Hello,

This is my first post on gtplanet.net. I'm posting because I want to join the sim racing world. I've been considering pretty much every wheel on the market and I'm having a difficult time making a decision. My number 1 choice right now would be this wheel:

Thrustmaster VG T300 Ferrari Alcantara Edition

However, after seeing a video comparison of the T300RS vs the new Logitech G920, I became slightly unimpressed with the T300, being that I felt that the G920 looked superior overall. Maybe it had to do with the configuration of the wheels. Because of that, I'm still considering the T300 Alcantara Edition.

I love the look on the Fanatec Clubsport V3 Pedals, as well as the T3PA Pro unit. I'm having a hard time deciding on those two as well.

What about the Thrustmaster TH8A shifter? Should I get it over the Fanatec ClubSport SQ shifter?

The Logitech G920 comes with a pedal set, and the shifter is only $60 more. It's a great, quality wheel at an affordable cost. Same thing goes for the T300RS, another great wheel. Now it's $299 on Amazon.com.

Fanatec offers the CSW V2 base, but is it that much better than the Thrustmaster Alcantara? They both have brushless motors.

I would like to know what wheels you guys would recommend and why. I've done a ton of research on google and other websites, been on pretty much every forum seeing threads about different wheels. I still can't decide what wheel, pedal and shifter combination to get.

Most folks that have used both the T300 and G920 have preferred the feel of the T300 force feedback. It is belt driven and silky smooth, but still powerful. The G920 is gear driven and so it is less smooth. It is based on old technology that first came out when the G25 was released. The T300 uses newer technology. That being said, the pedals that come with the G920 are better than the stock T300 pedals.

I recently upgraded from the T300 to the CSW V2 and it was a nice improvement, but keep in mind the cost difference is steep. I would say start with the T300 and figure out how much you want to invest in this hobby.

As to pedals, the T3PA pedals are proven and can be had for 1/2 of the cost of the Clubsport pedals.

The TH8A shifter is great, I own two of its almost identical predecessor, the THR8S. I have never used the Fanatec shifter but it looks great and has gotten great reviews.

Check out reviews by insidesimracing.tv. They are the best in the business.
