This is not the usual question. Ive been drifting on gt5 a while now and i noticed i have practically mastered the DS3. I want to move on to a wheel. Most people say the G27 and i think i agree. I know it may not make a difference but im only 13. could there be a different wheel to buy for me or would the G27 still be best? It will be my first wheel so I want to know. Thanks. :)

The G27 is a great wheel but if you're on a budget the DFGT is the way to go. $100 or less if you look around. Pedals aren't the greatest and but wheel itself is phenomenal for the price.

Yea, I have looked at it and was suprised. But, some people say its not the greatest for drifting. I want a wheel i can drift with well. my budget may be around $230 tops. What would you say then?

I think it's because it's just not as smooth as the G27. The G27 has 2 motors whereas the DFGT has 1. You should be able to find a G27 no problem with $230 but the best wheel to start out with is HANDS DOWN the DFGT, especially if you're just getting a wheel for the first time.

Why is the DFGT better to start with than the G27? The best wheel to start with is the best wheel you can afford.

If you can afford the G27 go with it. Everything about it is better than the DFGT save for having some bottoms on the shifter, not the wheel.

not making this easy are you?

Why? You said you wanted the G27 and most others recommended it. I own a G27 and can tell you it's a good wheel. You can afford it so go get. You will never regret buying up, but you will regret buying down when you could have afforded more.

No matter what wheel you get, buy or build a stand for it. My G27 slipped off the table I was using when I made a hard right and lets just say I had an icepack between my legs for about 4hrs!!

ok . . . well i think i may just go with the G27. I'll probably just make a stand for it instead of buying because the ones online are just too much.

Why not look into the Fanatecs?

Fanatec Carrera is only around $130 and that comes with a clutch and shifter...

I have owned mine for almost two years now and other than the slightly too light pedals it's the best bang for your buck.

Get the G27 later down the road you may want a clutch. As for a stand I went to Fredmeyer and spent $20 on this or you could just screw some boards together if you have any laying around

And the chair was $80 at Costco because I got tired of my desk wood one

The G27 is $221 on amazon

I have a G27.. If you want to put the money out, then get it. I got mine when I was 14.. Glad I did.. Having a clutch is worth half the price alone in my books. The leather wrapped EVERYTHING and stainless steal is just a bonus;)

Does that pull out or do you actually sit that close to your TV?

That's what I was about to say :p

When I first saw the G27 I made it my business to save up and get the whole thing with a pro stand. My first steering wheel. And my opinion the best steering wheel. The pedals work amazing as well as the shifter. Can't go wrong with an RPM meter that you'll practically never look at. Paddle shifters , AWESOME. The clutch works as if it's a real car. You will stall if you do not work the clutch right.
The most realistic and best steering wheel for my opinion.

I find the G27 quite a waste of money myself, prefer the feel of my wheel much more.

My cousin has a G27 and it's a bit too thin and light for my liking.

The Fanatec allows you to adjust settings on the go, lets you go from 90 degree steering to 900 degree steering and stuff like that and you can save 5setups, and it's MUCH cheaper.

But sure, your choice.

With the rotating and the button settings you can rotate te wheel the same amount and you have 10 buttons to save settings on

this may be what i would prefer, being a thinner and lighter person.

Totally up to you but don't just ignore the Fanatec line up, their new stuff like the CSR is probably the best on the market, and the Carrera is the best starter wheel.

ok, thanks for your time. Fanatec will not be ignored.

Sorry, just get annoyed when people think the G27 is the only wheel on the market.

I can move it anywhere it's just a cheap computer desk. I usually sit a little farther back but not much farther

True, but it somehow you break it or something happens to it your also not out alot not to mention how great Logitech's customer support is. It's a good wheel to learn on, and to see if you will want to continue. Save the G27 for a lter upgrade. It's his choice though.

Before, Fanatec has TERRIBLE support.

I love how someone jumps in and says how terrible Fanatec customer support is and they don't even own one.

Fanatec is a very good company.:)

My only dealings have been in ordering from them and receiving what I ordered in a timely fashion delivered in great shape.

MY CSR- elite with clubsports works flawlessly every time I use it which is several times a week.

Started with a DFGT and it was a good starter wheel but no comparison to my Fanatec. For the price it is a good wheel the G27 is better.

Basically get the best wheel you can afford and you will not regret it.

Good luck!!

If it breaks you have a warranty to get it replaced or fixed.

At least give him good info. CSW is the high end wheel, CSRE is the second tier, and then comes the CSR.

This ^^ absolutely !

"The Fanatec allows you to adjust settings on the go" -> is very important. so you can change on the fly (while actually racing) the degrees of rotation and so you can easily find the right setup for your personal taste.
If you want to drift with the G27, I can tell you by experience, the G27 does not turn back fast enough because of this 900°... It is much easier to drift in real life because the feedback IRL is so much better than that of the G27 while drifting. (While normal/clean driving/racing and even a bit on the edge of the limit it is very close to the real thing with the G27)
When racing with the formula GT for example, you can not correct the oversteer fast enough with the G27...

I own the G27 and regret it. I bought the G27 for the 3 pedals and the H-Shifter but I only use 2 pedals and the paddle shifters.

The G25/G27 and even the T500 are good wheels, but I would go for a fantec wheel because only with a fantec wheel you can adjust the degrees of rotation of steering in GT5.

If you drift it is better to have less degrees of rotation.

You said you practically mastered drifting with the DS3? I suppose you use the analog stick for turning. So you are used to being able to switch form full left to full right in a blink of an eye, imagine this with 900° of rotation...

DFGT is my wheel. It's great, nothing wrong with it. But no matter what wheel you choose, take the time to find a way to anchor it really solidly to something. There's nothing worse than a wheel that shifts around in the middle of a race.

The dfgt is the wheel you want if you don't want to use the clutch.some people think the g27 is a better wheel but the g27 don't got buttons all over the steering wheel and that means you don't have to take your hand off of the steering wheel and there is a round red thing which can adjust traction control, asm, awd cars torque split, abs, and brake balance when you driving.i never tried the g27 but to me,the dfgt is the wheel for you.
