Steering: Left analogue stick
Accelerating & Braking: Right analogue
Shifting:L2, R2
Look back:R1
Look around the car: D-Pad
Swear filter for online: L1

When I play GT5P, I usually drive the F2007. So I set up my controller to be as F1 as possible.

R1- shift up
L1- shift down
R2- accelerate
L2- Brake
square- E-brake
X- reverse

I shift up with X and down with square and dont't have my right thumb free for looking around with the right stick.

This config solves my problem!
But I would shift up with L1 and down with R1, so you only need to have one finger at the shoulder buttons.

I'm going to give this a try.
Don't know, why I never found this settings at myown... :D

I use a DFP Wheel and I've changed my gear stick settings.

I can only use the buttons on the back of the wheel to change gear, my gear stick is now used for reversing (push forward) and handbrake (pull back), I find this works very well.

Great f-ing idea mate! I hate reverse being the damn triangle button!

Left Stick: Turning
R2: Accelerating
L2: Braking
L1: Change gear down
R2: Change gear up
Right Stick left/right (look left/right)
X: Look Back
Square: Clutch (if available)
Triangle: Reverse
O: Handbrake
Select: Change View
R3: Real time adjustments (although I never use it, I always have all driving aids off, and don't really bother adjusting brake Bias) Hopefully in gt5, you'll be able to change headlights and windscreen wipers here.
D pad: Real time adjustments.

Think that's everything.

Left and right sticks, and L1/R1 for shifting.

👍 I thought I was the only one. This is probably one of the best settings since it gives you the best control of the cars´s reactions...although it is a little bit difficult to get used to at the begining. I´m using this setting since GT2, and I use it in every racing game that is possible. Works very nice ;)

Don't the controls you use depend on your physics setting?

I set my controller as the R2 (Noisy pedal) and L2 (stop) configuration with L1 and R1 as the shifters. This worked fine until you tackled a sequence of corners such as Eiger which would make things confusing and I always seemed to be in the wrong gear.

I switched to triangle and X for my shifter now and it works way better. The only reason I don't use the keypad to accelerate and steer is because the button travel is very short and I drive with professional physics. Meaning the rear end kept stepping out mid-corner and you had to correct it slowing your lap times considerably.

Ordered my G27 Today so F*&#ing excited... Hopefully will receive it just in time for the Demo of GT5 to be released on the 17th December
