a) $5,000
b) $500,000
c) $5 million
$5,000
That would just about cover a 1964 Gibson Hummingbird and a new or near new Gibson J-200.
$500,000
Would add that to my investment portfolio and hope to be a member of the "millionaire club" by 2010.
$5,000,000
I would then invest the lion's share (75%) so that it grew fairly steadily. (I have to split it between 6 kids when I die, after all.)
I would buy another house out in the country. Of course converting the barn to a garage for the storage of interesting cars, guitars, and a professional quality recording studio set up.
I would buy the wife the fancy engagement ring, that I couldn't afford when we were courting. I would take her shopping and beef up her wardrobe and mine.
I've always wanted a nice Brooks Brothers Suit.
Then I would buy some interesting cars, (1962 T-Bird Sports Roadster, 1956 T-bird, 1957 Ford Fairlane "Skyliner", 1960 Corvette, 1967 Corvette 327, 1966 Mustang, 1964 Triumph TR-4A, 1968 MGB (Unless I could find a nice MGC), I see a "bathtub" Porsche 356, Porsche 928, etc.)
Then would come more interesting Guitars. (1959 Les Paul, Pre-CBS Fenders, Gretsch Acoutics, Guild JF-55 acoustic, Gibson ES-135, Gibson Es-335 and 355.
Mesa Boogie Amps, Roland Amps, Music Man amps, Early Fender amps, A Vox or two.)
That should burn up the bulk of about $`1,000,000 give or take a couple of hundred grand.
