Ok today I checked my bank account and I had been paid extra money, that is not mine. Well we have no idea were it came from, and from what I can tell the place it came from is a distance from where I live. So what would you do. Keep it. Or sort it with the bank.

Doesn't hurt to confirm with the bank who sent that money....Sometimes the description of my deposits are confusing....

You should ask the bank about it, even though they might already be on the case. Don't be surprised if it disappears before you get around to dealing with it.

^ That.

Heard of people in similar situations who spent it and ended up with a headache. You should ask the bank about it.

I only clicked on this thread because the title lead me to believe the discussion in here would be about Klondike bars.
Anyway, you should probably notify the bank. I'm pretty sure you can get in trouble with the law if the government finds out you have money that isnt rightfully yours, even if you did nothing unlawful to get it. It will seem suspicious if someone finds out about the extra money and you didn't report it.

I've been given too much salary before, I asked if they knew they'd over paid me and they said it was OK and I could keep it. That was in cash though.

If it's in your bank I doubt it'll stay there for long as the bank usually rectify these problems quickly. If they don't, the money is yours.

If you spend it the bank will ask for the money:ouch:. Confirm with them first.
