Which one do you like better, and why? Which one do you think is better, performance-wise?

I raced my friend's M5 against my M3 and smoked him, but his wasn't fully tuned up and my M3 was. But the power/weight ratio is much higher in the M5. You think it would have beat it, fully tuned?

Maybe.

It is not what you drive but how you drive.

If you can't handle the cars power you will have issues keeping up with someone in a weaker car around the turns.

But i like the M5 better(well i like the 90's one), don't like current BMWs.

The E39 is a wonderful car. Really understated and a highway beast in M5 trim.

ontopic : M3 is better for tight corners but at high speed tracks M5 is faster.
Can't choose between them since i love both of them. In Gt5 i have 4 of each.

Oftopic: i would love to have as many bimmers as nissans and mazdas in gt5 !
E28, E30, E31, E34, E36, E38, E39... bring them !!! :)
I know its just wishfull thinking :/

i would buy an M5 for everyday use if i could but regarding "racing" the M3 is better.
raw Top speed doesnt matter to much, Both wont exceed about 300 kmH due to aero.

I would say the M3 for racing couse of its allround balance. (But i feel that the newer models are to HEAVY)
M5 is more of a Modern Muscle car.

But i realy wish they put in the BMW1 Series M Coupe (Stupid name for wat should be BMW M1 but an older legendary bmw was already called like that :p)

It’s small, powerful, and relatively light by today’s standards.
Topgear Calls it the M3 E30 Rebirth :)
Perfect Weight balance, 3.0 6-cilinder turbo , 340hp , 450Nm , 0-100 4.9Sec , electronic limited to 250Kmh :/ and STILL VERY BIG 1.495 kg for a small car... (In todays bmw numbers thats super light :p )

M3 is faster

Agreed, just in considering the nimbleness of a street car applied on a track, horsepower is not a single perspective to determine that the car is faster than those with lower output of horsepower - in most cases, the car which is going to be tested for trial run on a track is also required to be tested its quickness of rotation in cornering, the M5 is surely superior to M3 in the horsepower, but the car is bulky and heavier, which crucially affects the speed of turn.

People sitting in the back seats will like M5 better. :p

Edit: you can add ballast representing 3 passangers and play being the ring taxi :D

i agree with this person. why is there only 5 (estimate) bmw's in the dealership and loads of hondas no-one likes? even if you dont like bmw you must agree there should be more & not only brand new one's ! Im a m3 fan but the m5 is powerfull. which 1 better for 1/4 mile drag if they had standered tune but maxed guys?

Achem... No one likes Honda's :dunce: I love them.

M5, it's faster, and so much more fun.

The M3 does have better handling, but it lacks the power of the M5 to make it a fun handling car.

On the track, I prefer the M5, the noise is better too.

I'm not sure if you're talking about stock cars, but my M5 fully modified and tuned on Sports Softs is faster than my many M3s fully modified.

And that's on tracks like Cote D'Azure and Laguna Seca. Overall, I still believe the M5 is faster, and if you want to prove me wrong then I'm happy to learn and change my opinion. :)

I use an M5 for drifting sometimes, but considering stock cars i find the M3 is a nicer drive - well balanced and easier to throw about on the twisties.

The first time I used the M3 I had to check no driving aids were on, I was that surprised by it.

Would that mean you were on Racing Softs or the car just lacked power? :P

I'd say M3. It's lighter, more nimble, and more all-around.

But to be honest, I prefer the M5 for some reason. I love the M3 to bits, but it's just that the M5 is one of my all-time favorites.

I've tested stock versions of both cars on 5 circuits. The results?
M5 5
M3 0

Having said that, I preferred driving the M3.

Don't use RS  it would've been stock from dealership.

I just remember that it handled very well, almost too good. But then I tend to use older cars more, so probably came from a being in a Honda Z or something. It wouldn't have felt underpowered either!

In the game : M3 because it's FR and kinda awesome. I like to drive that kind of car on the track. However in real life I would take a M5 because it's more versatile.

If driven professionally, M5 hands down, however its little brother is very good at driving fast easily...

wowie I feel the same way :D

I own an E30 M3 myself and I wish they would have this car in the game. I prefer the older BMWs over the newer ones, although I like the look of the new M5. The new M3 feels heavy, although nimbler than the M5.

I wish they had the E39 M5! Anyways let's not turn this into a Wishlist thread. :P
