Why ask us?

You have access to the biggest information resource ever. The Internet. 30 seconds found me this link.

And I realise that your cuning plan worked in getting us to look up the information for you. Look for yourself next time :grumpy:

When I go up to fish in canada usually all I need is a copy of my birth certificate. But I havent gone in a while.

My uncles have started bringing passports. It used to be that you really didn't need anything.

By the end of 2008 you have to have a passport to cross the border. So probably just proof that you and your dad are related and something from your mom to prove you arent being kidnapped.

That's what we needed when i went to Montana anyway.

Coming into the US, the US Customs people are worse than the people who regulate the border going into Canada. Both of them you will need a passport or birth certificate. They will talk to everybody in the car to see what nationality you are and whether you are related. You will need to know where you are going and how long you are staying there. They will also want to see your drivers license or a personal ID from both of you. They will also ask you a few questions like, do you have any firearms, where are you from, what are you doing, how long are you staying, do you have any food, and do you have any animals? It is illegal to bring some foods across the border. You can't bring animals across the border unless you have medical identification they have all of their vaccinations. The main food they regulate are meats and fruit. They regulate meats in both directions and fruits into the US mainly. Canada is concious about whether you are bringing apples into the country. They won't allow you to do that.

Don't forget some identification from your parents so that the people at border know that you are related and have your parents permission to leave the country.

Ok, I went to Canada last year and I (somewhat) know the drill.

Name, Age, proof of birth (Passport or birth certificate), Reason for visit, Are you two related?, is there anyone else in the car besides you?, Drugs, Weapons, foriegn food, etc.

Since you're going with your brother, they might have to call your parents to know that you are crossing the border and that he's not kidnapping you.

The hardest part will be proving that you and your brother are related and that you have your parent permission to cross the border, the rest should be pretty easy.

do i need photo i.d cuz im screwed on tht because i lost my student card.

Yes, you need some form of photo I.D. because they want to see your picture on an ID so you can prove that the name on the ID is you. They will then check to see if the passport name is correct with that.

Steve, don't you have 2 photo ID's, assuming you still have your grade 9 student card?
