Hear people saying it is cheating, others say it can't compete with M/T. Which one is it? I notice that some people aren't reving the throttle before launch they just put on the e brake and launch. Also wtf is up with this ghost launch bull?

AT is consistent.

Some cars absolutely hate being run in automatic, others (GT-R, I'm looking at you) can be run faster using manual, but not consistently, making automatic the obvious choice, because while manual CAN go about a fender quicker, it's usually a fender slower.

Ghost launch doesn't leave any faster. People just like to think something works.

I would'nt recommend it. Some cars require you too shift early in order to stay in the best power band, and AT always shifts at redline.

Ghost launch bull. How is it bull?

So you pull up to the line, and here this person pulls up looking like casper. Suddenly he presses start, hits the throttle then hits start again to launch out of casper mode.

The fact that people think it gives you the upper hand on a unrealistic level shows that the person pulling up has the desire to cheat you out of a race rather than match up reflexes vs reflexes, gears vs gears, car vs car. Its the principle. They dont have faith in holding down the brake or e brake and letting it go on time. Thats why i dont hold my brake all the way down because it takes longer to release due to the moderation on the L2 trigger. I have beaten people fair and square then when they get fed up they go and use ghost launch. Example: I raced my Skyline R32 against a RUF and beat it. Next race the guy had the nerve to say "Imma have to ghost launch cuz your car is 4WD and its faster" So is that not ********? RUF's are beasty...period. There was no need to ghost launch when all he needed was the right tune.

So I guess you all ghost launch? Right? You guys scared of quicker hands, cars, what? Im my rooms people get kicked for ghost launching and most of the time its because everyone else voted on it.

Would it bother you if a person cant beat you without ghost launching then when he does he goes and talks **** like it was all him?

Dont get me started on the ones who drive around in ghost mode either. There just redonkulous.

ampire
people think it gives them an unfair advantage when it probably doesn't do anything

In most cases it does because of boost pressure. Notice how your launch is slower when u dont let your boost rise in the bottom right corner. In ghost mode that **** launches on point evertime with very little wheelspin. I wonder why? Lol

Wait... I think I misunderstood for tree. But TBH I never really encounter ghost launchers

boost stays the same regardless of ghost launching or ebrake launching. i want to say you are slower leaving the line because you use the regular brake (which is proven slower). ebrake launch = ghost launch

AT only works for those cars that come out of their powerband at redline. So using AT on Vintage Muscle cars is just stupid.

As for me, I have always used MT. No sometimes it isn't consistent but makes dragging much more fun IMO.

Many years ago playing gt2 I always used manual but now I use auto to keep the back of my hand from hurting behind the index fingers Sure it's easier to use but you loose that advantage by not being able to control shift points and being forced to launch in first gear in cars where 2nd is usually better.

Ghost launching sometimes confuses the ghoster , I prefer people don't do it but I can live with it.

Lol yea i thought that some people would confuse what Im saying with the ghost tree. I love the ghost tree. Whoever pioneered the ghost tree needs to get recognition for it.

some cars are auto cars and some are manual many of us like to take the fast manual cars and make a auto that competes or beats them manual ones.... some cars are a quick shift car depending how you do your trans an so on.. as for ghost launchin it is faster it gives the person no lag from releasing the brake the car is wide open no brake and then boom go.. we dont run it if you do we usually tell you to quit and if you dont you get kicked... its easier to press a button then time a release...ghost launching is when you pull up hold brake and gas and hit start your in ghost mode wide open keep holding gas and release brake then hit start to take off... cars launch harder this way react quicker... so its a no no!

Pretty much BS! :)

I just didn't know what he meant with "bull". I know ghost launch, but ghost launch bull? Wasn't sure about that.

And yeah, it gives you an advantage. When the guy is handicaped by ghost lag, then oooook, maybe.
But most time, I simply don't go ghost when I'm the tree.

I've only recently reverted to using auto solely for consistency during testing sessions. I prefer mt for racing though. I have no problem with people who choose at though. It is a game meant to be enjoyed however you choose. Some people lack the coordination to be able to drive and change gears at the same time. I hold nothing against them so long as they aren't using aids to gain an unfair advantage.

Before anyone takes this out of context-I don't disapprove the use of driving aids either. They are meant to assist drivers of lesser skill keep up with the rest of the pack and make it a more enjoyable experience. You know if you need to use aids or not. If you are using them to gain time and be the fastest on the tt leaderboards or using srf to drag that is what I mean by gaining an unfair advantage.

Online I'll personally use manual only if I can be consistently faster using it. The point of racing is to win, if auto makes you faster then there's no reason to not use it.

Which basically means that I'm not touching it for 1/4 drag in most cars. Longer runs, sure. Cars with powerbands that don't work in auto, sure. A GT-R? Hell no, I run .020 slower on most runs in manual.

I just like to use mt because it makes the game more engaging to me which is more fun.

i use A/T in awd cars out of sheer laziness haha

This could not be said any better... And yes i have tested ghost launching. Pending on the car and reaction. Gives from a quarter car to a full car advantage.

You all must be running with the regular brake instead of the ebrake then. Ghost launch = ebrake launch. Your boost stays the same, gas stays the same, ect. The only advantage to ghost is the button it is assigned to. If you change the ebrake to a button that you can get to the verge of having on/off, you will be equally as fast.

I don't think so.

ghost launching- all else even, the person ghost launching will get off the line milliseconds before the other guy

automatic- some of the fastest drag cars in real life are auto

You can be perfectly even with different methods of launching, now that we have a timed 1/4 mile, it can be PROVEN that it is all based on the rpm you launch at, even if the cars are duplicates. -_-
