Im sorta new to the whole GT5 thing, Ive been playing it for maybe 2 months now and just recently got online. So for the first month Id been playing it as the game came stock, with no patches or updates.

One of the things Ive noticed, is that while the game has a huge number of cars, it has a huge number of 'really good cars' that simply arent in the game.

For example, Ferrari 355, Ferrari F50, Lamborghini Diablo, Diablo SV, Arial Atom, Radical SR3, SR5 etc. Morgan Aero 8 Just to name a few.

Im still loving this game, dont get me wrong... but I just find it odd that some real classics, and some real unique cars are missing but there is a huge amount of Daihatsu's or Civic type whatevers... and dont get me started on the 43 different types of Nissan Skylines. I cant get a Ferrari F50 but they sure have every model skyline ever thought of it seems.

I know mate but for future reference use the search tool :). Its at the top right of the forum screen in that yellowey box. There are threads that already talk about this :) you will get used to it.

Welcome to gtp 👍

It's part of Gran Turismo. If you played the previous games, you would understand. Most of the cars that you would probably consider cool, like the Lambos and the Ferraris, are fairly new to the series. And modelling one car takes a while, so don't expect many cars that you want to all of a sudden appear as DLC. And cars you consider uncool depends on the opinion. I love all the Skylines and Imprezas.

:trouble::trouble:It just boils down to what you think is cool. I personally think the inclusion of the Samba Bus is epic and dare anyone to disagree. :trouble:

If your title is your question, the answer is: How are we supposed to know, we just play the game.

There are a plethora of reasons why a certain car has not made it in the final game, which I am not going to list out. But there is no doubt that PD has a soft side to JDMs, hence it plagues nearly half of the car list.

It's over half the car list.

mygranturismo.net lists Japan at 648 cars of the 1089 listed in the game. Add on Infiniti, Lexus, and Scion, which are all listed as American cars (except the Premium Lexuses and that 1 Korean Lexus), and it's more like 70% ...

Oh, and the European cars that have the JDM version in the game instead of their home market's version.

A hallmark of the GT series has always been its ability to include "ordinary" types of cars. Many of these ordinary cars can be tweaked up (in-game or real-life) to become better performers. There's a challenge to getting a Daihatsu or a Civic (whatever) to become a little superstar.

If GT just included supercars without everyday point A to point B types, I would get bored with it. I need a challenge. That being said, I'm not opposed to seeing more supercars show up in the game in the future.

Also, OP, please note that it takes time to include a Ferrari F50. PD can't just create new cars in a week like they did 15 years ago with GT and GT2. It takes over 6 months, from what I understand, to include a new car in GT5, especially if it's Premium.

Because Kaz is a FOOL.
There are NO good reasons for 1k maitas and skylines. There is NO good reason for Standards either ! It's all about marketing and money.....

It is easy to call anyone a fool.

But is not polite, nor nice. Especially when you talk about person that went from full-anonymity of thousands of japanese young game-designers in the early 90's to the respected status of one of the most exceptional personas in the overall game-industry of today with produced portfolio of the series that remained the best selling series of the platform that marked the era we today know as "modern gaming".

I will give you just 3 good reasons for Standards which are all reasonable, justifiable and logical from every perspective except one that tends to be over-critic just because it can.

1. Polyphony Digital employs less than 40 modelers at this very moment of time, and during GT5:P and GT5 development there were less than 30 of them

2. Standard cars are important part of the GTPSP > GT5 compatibility and their inclusion was planed in order to allow that particular feature

3. Having 1043 cars in game - despite many of them being Japanese cars (surprise: Gran Turismo games have been made by team of less than 100 people before GT4, with whole team being less than 70 persons during GT3 development - all being Japanese) - is better than having just 230.

Also worth noticing is how accusing Polyphony Digital in favoring Japanese cars is totally crazy because those guys are Japanese and most certainly very proud about their country's automotive heritage.

Calling someone a fool and dragging superficial argument of "marketing and money" without taking more probable reasons - all related to actual game-design, fulfilling a promise to multi-platform players or simply being proud to ability to virtualize sheer portfolio of vehicles of your domestic manufacturers and by that "save them for the future reference" - is nothing but very ignorant. Sorry.

I'm sorry but whats not cool about these little baby's,

+1 👍 + Those many japanese cars are standard cars, they don't count. :sly:

Speaking of fools...

Wow.. I mean.. I know you are but what I''m I...:dunce:

Standard cars in GT5 are a complete failure.. 100's of the same model car is a waste..

Kaz, sold out BIG TIME making GT5.. Why do think we need all these updates..??

None of those are GOOD reasons. They are PD's reasons.. Money and marketing are the real reasons.. What' truly ignorant, is how (fanboys) defend what is clearly obsurd. Sorry to you..👍 You are buying the Bull spit PD is selling..

Well, the fact is I'v never played Forza..

I love GT games.. But Kaz (fanboys) who defend him like a GOD, are Funny.

Kaz has admitted that GT5 was unfinished and wanted another 2 years for it. Sony forced him to release it early. If you were one of the ones complaining that GT5 was taking too long, all the shortcomings of GT5 are because of you as well as Sony.

BTW I own a Jeep and a VW Jetta, just in case you want to redirect from the discussion and say something about what I own.

Almost 7.5 million copies sold, yea that sounds like a screw up to me.

So what do you drive that makes my Mustang a piece of ****?

Dude, Flame however you like.👍

So Kaz needed 8 years, instead of 6. Why can't you understand? That makes no sense. It does not take 5 or 6 years to make a game.. Add in the fact most of the cars are(leftovers).

Kaz needed more time because he lagged. He gave in to Sony. (for money)👍

The Guy screwed UP.. GT5 should be better, and it has nothing to do with me..Blame Kaz and Sony, pal. Not the consumer:dunce: "Sony Forced Him" What with a gun or Money? :)

Clearly I poked fun at (Mullet boy) because he flamed me, and called me a Forza Fanboy.

There is an old saying that applies to your way of thinking. It goes like this, (don't let the truth get in the way of a good story).

So get rid of your copy, and get off GTplanet while you are at it. Everybody wins.

So can you read? Where did I say it was a POS.

I said that explains your quote me..

Polyphony Digital is a subsidiary of Sony. When they demand for a product to release, you can't say no or I need more time forever. I'm not going to justify why it took them so long to release the game, or why that the finished product is still a work in progress. But, I'm sure he was under pressure from people with much more important titles than his to released a finished product.

Why is so hard for you FANBOYS to admit. KAZ screwed up.?

This forum needs honest people. Not your blind fanboy love..

The game will not improve if you sit around worshiping KAZ.

Take your own advice Jack. 👍 Go flame somebody else TROLL.. I flame Back.

Are you a video game designer or programmer?
How the hell would you know how long it takes to make a game?
I have a better idea, quit playing the game and go to design school, then video game programming and make your own version of whatever car game you want, then you can put whatever cars you want in the game, hopefully all premium models.
It should take you about the same time to graduate as it took PD to release this game.
Kaz sold out for money?
Damn skippy he did and I would too.
I guess that's why he can race at any real track in the world he wants and drive real world supercars and your stuck on a video game.
Who's the fanboy now

Kaz did not screw up. That's why we never admit it. He gave us a great game. I'm sorry if he didn't live up to your expectations. So basically if all the standards are taken away, does that make it a complete and finished game? You are asking too much from a company that consists of less than 100 people, trying to model about 4-6 cars per 2 months and maybe a track or two. And 1 car takes about what, normally 6 months to model?
The way I'm seeing it, you're a GT fan that's just frustrated that GT5 isn't as good as say, Forza 4 or NFS Shift in terms of cars and tracks. Those games outsource their models, hence Forza 4 has like 500 cars complete with interior views. GT5 is all in-house. And the Japanese cars? They are in Japan, which is easier to model? That's why a lot of foreign cars in the game are Japanese spec. Don't forget, the GT series is the one which originally introduced a lot of Japanese cars like the Skyline and Evo to North American and European players. And you talk like Kaz is taking it easy and just playing with player's money. He has a lot of deadlines, from Sony. So if you are not satisfied with GT5, get an Xbox 360 and Forza 4 and enjoy the game.
