Whats your car mistaken for?

I drive a 1990 VW Corrado, people usually think its something that's actually fast.
But seriously, most people assume it's a Scirocco but that's understandable since my car was the replacement for it and they are similar designs.

Funny, when searching for a picture of an Accent GS on google, my actual car shows up. :)

DON'T DISS ACCENTS!!! MY MOM HAD ONE! THEY ARE AWESOME! (srsly). But you want a bathtub? Here ya go:

Looks like someone shoved a toilet and bathtub together.

Whenever I drive the Ranger, people always tell me "Whoa, nice Ferrari!" I have to tell them "Thanks, but it's actually a Ford Ranger." I can understand why thay would make that mistake. Sometimes, when I walk outside I think to myself "Who parked this brown Enzo in my driveway!?" But then I just realize that it is infact my Ranger.

must be a 1st gen, my 2000 is often mistaken for a chevy s-10 :yuck:

I used to get pulled over and they can't find the car emblems and they assume it's a Datsun.

Most people don't even know that an Accord Type R exists

The lad at the gas station in Cologne does though. He gave us 5% off our fuel because it's a great car that he's never seen in Germany before

People keep mistaking The Cereal Box for a Commodore (They're both Australian but that's pretty much where the similarities end...it doesn't even really look like the VL that shares its engine), and someone recently asked me if my Suzuki Sierra was a Daihatsu Rocky.

For reference, here they are:

Mind you, the Sierra shot is before I set to it with the paint over the massive "SUZUKI" badge/decal on the back.

I got pulled over the other night.

The officer said, "Oh so sorry to bother you, we thought you were a BMW".
Have to admit it was dark and i did pass them doing around 50mph.

My Car....

that's an escort? ida mistaken it for a 190 from that pic (there's no such thing as a ragtop escort over here)

Murice: what is that, a steel mask R30? and I can see why they might mistake the bottom one for a Rocky. I think they share something besides design similarities.

Milford: they exist here in the states, too. I believe the Acura TSX and variants are actually Accord type/Euro R's with Americanization

Nissan SkylineN1: their even worse to sit in. I haven't seen a windsheild that tiny since I drove a Jeep Cherokee last :P

Ah, now I understand why "we prefer red" ;)

I've had all 3 of my cars mistaken for something else. My Magna:

The first thing people say/think is xB...

...It's really a xD, as in Door-hundred pounds lighter and has an instrument cluster in proper location.

It comes up when I've had a few parts/service requests. But that's what happens when the average person hears the word "Scion". But seriously, nobody's mistaking it for anything more upscale than that. Maybe a Kia Soul or a shrunken Walt Disney Monorail Car.

^ These are the most common responses that I get from clueless patrons. But I got an even rarer response like my car was an Aston Martin, or even a Saturn Sky. :indiff:

A Porsche.

And years ago, a Fiat X1/9, ghastly things...

To be fair, the MR-S does look a little Boxster-ish from some angles (no bad thing) and the AW11 was pretty much a Japanese copy of the X1/9, only less pretty, less rusty and more reliable.

Oh, that's wonderful. Almost every car is sitting still (I don't count that new BMW, that's digitally enhanced) and every single Miata is being driven. Nice.

Personally, my Altima often gets mistaken for Camry. At one point, even I did it. And then I was sad.

The Cereal Box (top) is a 1988 R31 Skyline GXE.

I always thought the Daihatsu Rocky shared proportions and design with something like a SWB GQ Patrol, although I will give them that a SWB version of my car would look like one. Mine's a LWB though.

it gets hard to tell with a lot of vehicles. I notice a lot of these mistakes come about because the badges seem to be missing (or at least, very tiny) about the only other way I can tell lookalikes apart is either the grill design, or the shapes of the taillights.

You know what pisses me off more than anything?! :grumpy:

IT'S NOT THE SAME BLOODY CAR REDNECKS!

I'm actually 75% serious and 25% tongue-in-cheek here. :sly: 👍

^ Um, it will be very hard to deceipher the difference between a ZX5 and a SVT. Only people who are in tune in the car industry or Ford fans would notice the difference. (But I would, the SVT is so far better looking) ;)

I know, I am partly tongue-in-cheek but occasionally when some idiot asks where I got the after market parts for the car I *sigh* and have to explain myself.

And the TopGear cool wall rules dictate that my car is not cool because of this. :D

^ Oh, I feel ya on that one. By mine being called a latest model BMW. :indiff:

I have a 2000 Nissan Xterra I got not too long ago and I have been on the mountain riding trails a handful of times and every single time I have some redneck saying, Who's Pathfinder is that?". We usually ride for about 10 minutes and stop and park off the trail a bit and have a beer or two and then continue, that's usually when people will stop and talk with us about the rigs everyone has and one of them will ask that about mine.
