got my copy (PS3 version) a couple of hours ago. question for you guys, what difficulty and driving assist settings do/will you use? and how long a weekend and race will you go for?

mine: custom difficulty, basically expert but with racing line, corners only. i also went for long race weekend, and 50% race length. i've been thinking aboutnp doing a 100% race length but this will severely eat into my time for other games.

F1 2011 isnt out for another 3 days for me. :( But for f12010 i had all aids off except RLine, hardest difficulty.F1 2011 ill learn to race Without Rline. 👍

Sorry for going off-topic, but how does the game perform on the PS3? The framerate is actually my only worry at this moment. I hope to get my copy tomorrow, my local gamestore often sells games 1 or 2 days before their official release dates :)

^ were there ever frame rate issues in a game on the PS3? My concern however, is it won't look as pretty (graphically feature wise) as a modern PC. But sometimes, frames per second, is what matters most.

This is exactly the case with F1 2011, in my opinion. Graphics took a slight knock, but I really don't even notice it now after playing for several hours. The game feels good to me.

The framerate is constantly too low IMO. I find it hard to believe it's even 30fps, and that's while I was doing time trials. Compared to GT5 it's embarrassing.

When I'm driving the F1 car in GT5 it really feels like I'm in the car, the car is responding instantly, I can watch for brake markers and know just when to hit the brakes. In this it's hard to read the markers, and as you get close you can literally see them jumping as each frame is rendered. The low FPS and slight input lag make me feel like I'm watching a 24fps movie and not in total control of the car.

For a game that ONLY uses super-fast cars, you'd think a good game studio would value smooth gameplay over graphics.

I'm also really pissed that they STILL have registration closed on their official forums, so no one can even go on there and discuss the game or get help with issues!

*Note that I'm pretty sensitive to FPS and have only played the game about an hour. I've read that the car seems more under control the more you play so I'm really hoping that's the case.

the longest, hardest and most realistic setting, bye bye weekends! Hope I can get 3 or 4 races down before Forza 4 comes out.

I just got my copy on PC, plauing with 360 pad. i had a quick race with the McLaren on highest difficulty, i set 1.28.xxx, AI were doing 1.23.xxx, this is much harder than F1 2010. I was using similar setup to 2010 so that may of been the problem.

Getting lots of oveersteer in high speed corners on exit. Plus DRS and KERS is actually a little tricky to get right at first. We are not used to racing with extra things like that.

i played 2010 on highest difficulty settings.

For now i have put AI to Professional, all aids off, and started the Career in Force India Team. 1st practise i set 1.29.xxx, Petrov set 1.27.xxx, Hamilton + Jenson 1.27.xxx, rest were off pace 1.28.xxx and below. I tried hard and thought i nailed the DRS and KERS but still way off pace even with softs and rich fuel mix.

Also braking points have reduced, on my first 5 laps i was cutting corners all over the place as i braked to early (F1 2010 breaking points).

This is quite a tough game.

20% race, Hard difficulty, abs, no traction, no lines. Its perfect for me, the pace of the cars matches mine, and the fights are spectacular.

Season 2(same team: Williams) 50% race distance, custom- Legendary, no TC, ABS, Manual. Won the first race also, even after immense pressure by hamilton, i was heaps stoked.

I was playing on Legend AI but they were completely demolishing me so I lowered to Professional. I think I'll turn off the racing line after practice 2.

I lowered to Intermediate and i beat them too easily, i managed a 1.26.7xx with Force India (stiffen springs and Roll bars, reduce rear camber).
Race was really good as i started from the back, i got DSQ in Quali (game didnt say why, but i think i cut a corner too much), managed to get up to P6.
Fuel indicator in Car Status isnt accurate. Ran out of fuel in last lap, it still read optimal, but fuel light was flashing.

Going to use Pro AI now.

I did P1-3 in Melbourne last night. Expert difficulty, no assists or lines. The best I could manage was P13 in qualifying and I am using a G27. This game is really challenging when setup that way. I was forced use all the time in the 3 practice sessions because it took that long to memorize every breaking point, where I could hit KERS/DRS, and when to go full throttle out of corners.

I probably wont win any races for a while, but playing on the hardest settings really pushes you. If you lose concentration just for a second your lap is worthless. I'll try the race tonight so we'll see how it goes.

I've just being playing with pro AI, no assist apart from abs and driving line. I never played 2010 so kinda new to the game still learning some of the tracks but I'm pretty happy on those settings.Got a couple of 4th place finishes and I'm with force India so doing ok. I'll maybe take the assist off when I win the championship... :)

Also have any of you guys put all assist on, I did just to see the difference nearly broke my wrist. My DFGT just jerked to one side, I think it was the braking assist I'm not sure. It was in the rain I chucked the car into a corner and the assist's must of tried to correct it or something.

PS ^ Zohsix your hardcore lol

Legend AI; all aids off except pit limiter; occassional racing line when learning track; cockpit view with sometime Roll Bar Cam view when in heavy rain and spray; or to see more of compeitors cars around me to avoid collisions.

Hardest part so far was setting up G 25 wheel (not like 2010) :grumpy: (see G 25 set up thread)

Hard settings and no assists. First race I qualified 6th and finished 1st in the Williams car. I admit though I accidentally cut a few corners during the 20% race and it was weird that I didn't get a penalty or anything.

So far on expert there has been no accidents at all. Nobody makes a mistake in the race. Actually thinking of changing it to pro or hard to see if there is more drama. Not even a single local yellow anywhere.

I wanted to play on expert, but they were just too fast, that's with me doing as perfect a lap as I could. I haven't attempted to change any setting yet so there may be room for improvement.... for now I'm using Professional and it feels just about right, they're not ridiculously faster, and once in a position I can stay there, maybe make slight progress forwards (but I am in a Williams so it's about right). Trying China now, a new track to me and the AI are still a bit faster, really need to nail the circuit to be at all competitive.

It's a tough, but consistent driving experience and really rewarding, and even quite realistic, except for some appalling AI when there's cars bunched up, they just ALL decide to slow down in the middle of the track rather than take obvious paths round the other cars.... which is disappointing. Hopefully it will get fixed, along with the shocking framerates and low res textures and jaggies on the PS3... we can only hope. Either that or GT5 Spec 2 will finally let you set a 200 degrees steering angle for F1/Le Mans style cars so it's got a believable steering ratio so I can finally drive the F1 cars in the game!

everything off and AI on professional. When i'll get in a top team i will turn it to legendary, now in my lotus i'm not good enough, i'm learning the game.
