What's your "sit" time for the 24hr races?

Making progress towards getting to the 2-24hr races. Not sure when if ever PD will put in race-saves. So I'm asking how you have broken up the races without leaving the system on for days on end. I'm kind of thinking 4/4 - 4/4 - 4/4. Don't know how monotonous that's going to be though.

Thanks!

Ed

I dont understand the question.
You say the 24h cannot be saved, but you say 'without leaving the system on for days' meaning you turn off the system?

As far as I know: if you're gonna do the 24h, you will need to turn on the system and leave it on at least 24h. Drive 24h, you can pause but that will only result in leaving the system on for longer.

Am I missing something here and is it possible to turn off the system during 24h and then come back and do the rest?

Doing the 4hr Nurb and it is GRUELING! Sit time = how long are you racing per stretch in the 24hr races? I know very few are doing it in one 24hr stretch. What are you finding easiest and shortest? 2 days 12 hours, 3 days 8 hrs? 2-tens and a four? What's been the best?

There were 4 of us doing it and we did 4 lap stints on the Nurburgring pretty much constantly over a weekend. It was good each of us trying to beat the fastest lap until it rained after 15 hours and was torture after that.

i havent been able to sit through the first endurance let alone a 24 hr one

hoping the race saves come with the next update

I would never be able to sit for more than an hour and a half. I'm gonna wait for in race saves until I do any endurance races.

Yeah if there coming,'does anyone actually know if it's true or is it what people just want to see

Well, I did the 4hr Nurb. Stated at 9am finished about 3pm. Had things to do in-between but couldn't sit for more than 45 min. 27 laps at about 9min per lap including pits.

Kept it interesting by going full map and attempting to catch and lap the "next" guy in-front of me. Really wanted a competitive race and figured I'd get one using a car that was 50hp lower than the S2000 GT1 Turbo.

I did the 4 hour at the Ring in one sit down. I paused once every hour for 5 minutes to text, drink, piss and move around a little. Did it in a Calsonic R35 GTR SuperGT car on racing hards, but won easily. It was tough! I'm not going to do the 24 hour races until a race save faeture comes along. And even then I might just not bother at all.

I've done my fair share of these 24 hour races and find that they generally take me 8 days.:boggled:

I only attempt them when I am sure to have some extra time on a weekend. For the weekend days I would normally drive for about 4 hours. For the other six days I would only drive 2 or 3 hours.

A game save for GT5 would be nice, but just pausing the PS3 works pretty well.

I was thinking of getting some of my friends and just doing it when I get there. That will be fun.

Will Sony replace my PS3 for free if it breaks during this race?

NO they won't and its getting hot in UK now, time for the YLOD threads to start popping up again!

I have once driven for 6 hours straight in Nürburgring 24h race in GT4 because all my friends fell asleep. Got really surreal lapping that Spoon S2000 again and again and agaaaaain... :p

I did mine by doing it in 3 days. 8hrs/day w/paused - very makeable.

This is a big issue for me. It's usually around 85-87 degrees in my gaming room in the summer and I have a early 80GB model. That's not to mention the seemingly random power cuts we get here every few days.

If not for that I wouldn't mind doing 2 12 hour stints with a break in between for eating, etc.

I've found that even four hours is too long for me. Didn't really mind the other level 25-28 endurance races too much, but after I did the roadster race in one sitting (with small breaks in between), I said to myself that there's no way I'll do any of the level 30+ endurance races without in-game saves. If they never come, I'll never do these. Might change my mind about the 4h Nuerburgring, but I'm most certainly not for any of the other races.

Not sure exactly how I'm going to handle it without race saves. PD says they have content but are waiting for PSN to resolve "all" their issues. So who knows. Tuesday, I'll start about 8am and run the 6hr Suzuka with a ton of breaks. That'll leave the 4hr Tsubuka (I HATE that track!), the 9hr and the two 24's. I'm guessin the 24's will have to be done over 2 days; 8am to midnight then another 8am to midnight. Do the first that way and see what happens.

There is no way in hell I am doing the A-Spec 24 hour enduros unless they incorporate game saves.

1. I have a life--House, girlfriend, dogs, friends, career. I don't have the kind of time to sit in front of a game for hours and hours on end. I shouldn't have to pause the game, which means leaving my system on for SEVERAL DAYS STRAIGHT, to finish one of these. Let alone the amount of electricity the PS3 sucks up. As I'm sure you all know, it is a thirsty, hot machine. There would be a significant spike in my electric bill, I'm sure.
2. I am not burning up my PS3 for a game. I should not be required to risk the health of my system. I feel uncomfortable enough leaving it on for 24 hours straight for the B-Spec 24 enduros. I think Sony should offer some kind of protection for selling a game under their name that expects us to do this.

If a game-save feature doesn't happen, I'm never going to do them. Simple as that.

What I did is I did the race in 4 to 8 hour segments during the day, but I only did a 24 race once and I won't do another 24 hour event until the summer.

My friends and I are going to do the 24 hours of Le Mans Legit 24 hour style. We will be doing 2-4 stints (roughly 1-2 hours each depending on many factors) We are all super excited. We will be using the 908 for stability reasons.

Best way to do it. :)

I did the 24 h Le Mans in two stints of 12 h:

Start at 10 am saturday until 11 pm (1 hour break for food & bathroom)
Same for sunday.

I did 4h Nurburgring 3 times, each time I did it in one go.
Nurburgring is a fun map, I can never get bored of it.

i wouldnt drive longer than 2 hours per stint. Concentration and more important fun is going to fade after that.
Best option is to have a couple of friends and share the driving on a weekend eve or so (remember to bring drinks...). At least it can safe you 5-8 hours less you need to spend on your own finishing.
