Wheel and pedals used

Hi everyone,

What do you guys use as wheel and pedals for time trials?
Does it has to have a clutch pedal?

I am a newbie to GT Academy, any help is appreciated. Best of luck to everyone.

I use g27 and frankly speaking used clutch pedal and shifter maybe once or twice. If you want to be fast in time trials you'll have to use paddles for shifting. I could be wrong but I don't think that any of Top 5000 could use clutch and shifter.

I use fanatec csw with f1 rim and csp v2 pedals as I spend a lot of time on iRacing so thought the investment was worth it. The wheel makes no real difference, mines nice but it's just flashy, it doesn't gain you anything. The pedals on the other hand make your braking a lot more consistent with the loadcell. They were worth every penny.

only got a 200* wheel 2 pedal set up , used a soft ball to get more feel in the brake and a bungee to give more spring in the go pedal.... didn't cost much and having fun :)

I personally have a t500rs with f1 add on wheel. Beautifully smooth and tight..

.. Just got my rattly old g27 out to see what happened and I matched my time in 20 mins.. It really doesn't matter what wheel you've got for raw speed, but a quality wheel makes the experience more enjoyable

I have the T500RS. Not sure the use of the clutch is even an option with the cars in GT Academy.

No secret ingredient, just whatever you have, and with what method floats your boat.

DFGT and using the sequential shifter and right foot braking got me to Silverstone last year..best of luck practice practice practice!
How the hell did you manage that?! Was FFB at 0? I can't imagine using one hand to drive, let alone right foot braking too!

(I've got a second-hand DFGT bought for £40 so god only knows how good - or bad - it is)

I paid £20 for my 2nd hand dfgt and it was good enough to get me to nationals last year :) im sure yours will be fine

FF is at 10 I believe, not for sure though.

Any car I've ever tracked in real life has been a stick(until I experienced the beast that is the gtr), so its just what feels more natural to me, same goes for the right foot braking. Only left foot braking experience I have is from public karting places.

Nice buy on the DFGT, I guess its worth noting my sequential shifter is not in it's stock position. I cut it off the unit, got some wire and a taller shift lever, and mounted it to the side of my seat.

I'm been driving exactly that way since my stroke: one foot braking and steering with basically on hand. My right side is 90% paralyzed from my last stroke so I've just had to adapt. Pedals are left side orientated with the gas pedal to the extreme left. Only thing that really sucks is shifting with the paddles. Its really hit or miss with my right hand. Anyways, adapt and conquer, that's all I can do at this point, I don't have a choice.

You could remap the upshift to be on the LH paddle and downhshift with your left thumb on a directional arrow?

Logitec lap (sits in your lap) wheel. No peddles, nonsupported simple wheel. Acceleration and breaking controlled by shifter paddles located behind wheel. I only use it in automatic mode because it too combersome to use otherwise. The 'Logitec EV' selection in wheel type options works best for me... Button programming wise.

Had to dust it off to gold at GT Academy Spa LMP2 TT. Eau Rouge proved too tight and fast in left, right, left transitions to gold with controller. Over 157mi needed with lap wheel to refamiliarize and negotiate a 1:12.7 lap.

I've been using a stock G27 since last fall. I use whatever shifter the car has in real life. I've got no chance of making the finals in GTA, so it's just for fun. Though I can still gold the trials.

Might as well share since this is my first time doing these with a Wheel. I'm currently using the Logitech G27. As much as I like the shifter that came with it, the rusty old desk I'm using has no room for it AND I can't find anything that it'll sit on well enough to be comfortable so its all Paddles for me.

Bone stock DFGT wheel and pedals, she may be a little slow but for the price I got it for means she's a real keeper!

T500RS Wheel and Pedals.

No Side Shifter yet (THR8)

I use the paddles. Never an issue other then a few corners where i need the down shift on hard lock under braking.. but theres only a corner or two i can think of where i need to do that.

great wheel and set up. i love it. if i divorce. the missus gets the house but we've agreed i keep my rig... i could live in it right? lol

Fanatec Clubsport V1 on a modified Playseat with the pedal mount welded backwards.

Here's mine: sparco race seat disguised as a foot cushion (with edge of the sofa for back support), a mini-table acting as the cockpit surround (with two 7.5kg weights used as ballast - although one fell off even with FFB on 1 last night!) and the pedals underneath. If I close my eyes it literally feels like I'm sitting in an LMP1. And the missus thinks I look like an idiot.

I've fried the motors in every Driving Force GT that I've had, still don't know how.

What wheel you use doesn't matter. your best time will solely be decided by how many redbulls you drink.

I would have posted a pic of my desk, but I have spent all day cleaning up after GT academy, so the cans are gone.
