I've noticed recently, after playing GT4 for a bit (bit as in, well not enough) that in the wheel of the day section the wheels are labeled by a manufacturer code. So if it's a VW wheel it will be called VW001, or a toyota wheel TO001. But then there are some wheels that are labelled PD001 and usually these look like other wheel manufacturers wheels.

Example

Those wheels were labelled PD when I bought them and I don't think there is a manufacturer called PD. So i'm thinking that this is a way thad PD are sneaking other wheel manufacturers into GT4.

Or am I just crazy?

Oh also, also!

Does the wheel change depending on tyre type?

The wheel size changes according to tyre type, although the choices seem to be the same in wheel of the day and the wheel manufacturer's.

But have you noticed those PD wheels? I mean am I just missing a manufacturer that starts with PD?

polyphony digital perhaps? ;)

Well apart from that. :p

Is anyone able to identify the manufacturers of the wheels on that MR-2? I see someone else spotted some SSR's in another photomode pic, so maybe those wheels are a clone of another manufacteres wheels?

Slightly off topic :

I've bought a set of wheel of the day wheels for one of my cars, I'm not keen on the wheels now I have seen them on the car, does anyone know how to change back to my stock rims?

Cheers for any help chaps...

What's more intriguing... have you guys seen a pic showing a light blue VW Karmann-Ghia with Porsche's classical 5-spoke wheels? Where did those come from?!?

I Haven't seen that, but I've seen a vintage Beetle using the Porsche rims you mentioned before. Maybe it's from that PD rims section..

I saw the Karmann pic on pimp_racer's site, but it is down right now. So, to avoid any doubts, i found this pic (a REAL Porsche 911 - 901 Series) with the rims I mentioned...

These wheels have a popular name, but I honestly can't remember... Anyone?

Back to topic... do you guys believe that Polyphony is using the PD code to make non-licensed wheel designs available in the game?

[Edit]: Icefroz just took some pics of his Volvo Station Wagon... with these wheels!!!
Check it out...

Hey while we're on the topic of wheels. Is the wheel purchasing system like it was in GT3? In GT3 you were able to buy a set of wheels and be able to use them on any car in your garage as many times as you want, is it the same with GT4?

Porsche Fuchs, very classy wheels!

I've played a little bit, and I don't think anyone has found a way to swap wheels that were already purchased. The only way I can think of is to buy them back if you ever see it in Wheel Of The Day list.
To me, this is kinda fun. Because I bought a set of US WRX stock wheels for my AE86. Or you could get VW wheels for your Honda Beat... etc.
