My current wheel (madcatz mc2) has broken repeatedly, and I think it's time to replace it. Any suggestions?
Also, could anyone tell me what it's like for steering with the Logitech Driving Force Pro? Is it slightly akward with all that rotation?

yes it's a bit akward at first but you get used to it.i moved my seat back a couple of clicks so my arms are a bit straighter this enables you to cross your arms over while turning.

I don't like the 900 degree mode for GT3 because GT3 was never designed to handle 900 degrees. I have owned the mad catz wheel, the logitech driving force wheel, and now I own the DFP. The DFP is by far the best wheel I have driven with, and it was well worth the $150 I paid for it. You can find it online for like $90-100 now, and you can buy them refurbished for $55.

My only complaint is that every once in a while in the middle of the race my wheel stops responding. It usually ends up in me driving off track before I can find the DS2 controller to pause the game. Then you have to unplug the DFP's USB connection and reconnect it. I'm not sure if a lot of people have had this problem or not, but I exchanged my wheel once because of the problem and it still happens. I'm beginning to think it's my PS2 or my game.

the same thing happens with my regular driving force. at random times in a race it will just lock itself at full left or full right and i have to push to keep it straight. I just pause and like you said, unplug the USB and then plug it back in and it fixes everything. kind of a hassle in a tight race tho, cuz the 2 seconds it takes to find the DS2 can be a huge loss...

I had an old Madcatz wheel with my PS1, it was "adequate" when I knew no better...

Then I had a driving force... worked wonderfully, able to feel the "sweet spot" in drifts etc, but then the power controller packed in, smoking!! Worked fine without power though, no feedback :(

Now have a DFP.. oooh it's lovely... finally made the jump from "toy" to "simulation", heavy beggar too, but you can really feel the limit of adhesion to understeer in GTR on the PC, prologue and TOCA2 are a joy with it. Can't recommend it enough, expensive yes, but hell it's worth it.

Minnesota - Where are you finding it so cheap??? There's none on Ebay that I could find, and the only other place with a half decent price was Walmart's US website @ $120 or $130. More for me though, since I'm in Canada.

Edit: And where would I buy a refurbished one??

Have you used the company that sells the used DFP?

Not personally, I did have a friend order one from them, but it was only 3 days ago so he hasn't gotten it. The website says they will replace it for you if it breaks in the first 30 days....not sure if the full manufacturers warranty is good or not.

Depending on the length of the factory warranty and how old the wheel is, it might still be covered.
Could you let me know how good/bad condition the wheel is when it arrives? This (so far) looks like the way I'm going to go.

Unfortunately, I will be in mexico starting on the 26th...I will be comming back january 2nd. Read up on the return/exchange policy they have...it seems like if you don't like it you can exchange it or get your money back.
