Does anybody know if the phsyics for wheel to wheel contact on open wheel cars (FGT, F2010, F2007) is accurate. From my experience it isn't but I wasn't sure. I know that in real life the faster car can jump into the air if there is contact when one of the cars is at a bit higher speed. Thus is evident in many open wheel highlights if you don't already know. Look up Mark Webber's F1 flip, or any number of indycar clips like Mike Conway's flip or Scott Dixon at Toronto or just an indycar highlight video from a Sonoma race on YouTube.

Also, if mechanical damage is on can I knock a wheel lose or off, knock off body pieces, or crumple up the suspension arms on my FGT? Perhaps post a picture of the most damaged you got your open wheel car. Thanks!

Nope.
I could rambling on and on but the answer is still: No, wheel to wheel contact (open wheel cars) is the same with covered wheel cars, same sound effect too. Visual damage is extremely limited, body will melt nothing will fall off.
I'm still waiting for the visual damage they brag about in interviews.

I couldn't agree more. Perhaps the only car with decent damage is the newer WC rally cars you find in the NCD. I was also greatly disapointed, I thought it would just like a race but it wasn't. The also don't have a fueling hose that most all major leagues but NASCAR use, that should be adressed as well.

Also does anybody know of plans to fix the issues of poor visual, machical, and aero-dynamic damamhe or know where I can sign some petition or something?

I actually blew a tire and crashed in the guard rail and my FGT caught fire. When it happens, you lose your car.

If you want damage, play TOCA 3/Grid, if it's fun you want, play NFS, if you want a driving simulator on the PS3, play GT5 alone in a time trial.

Not really buying that, can anyone confirm this?

FYI, he wasn't telling the truth. It was in response to the asinine comments and questions from the OP. Comments and questions that have already been stated, asked, and answered a million (and one) times before in previous threads that could have easily been found by using the search feature.

But you probably already knew that and are also being sarcastic, which makes this thread even better!

I agree, that seems a bit far fetched, to say the least, lol. But I do wish the cars could catch fire when you have mechanical damage on. If you were up on the chip to much you could see engine wear and if you blow there could be oil on the track. That could be fun.

Excellent. Now all we need is an animation of our driver helplessly flailing his arms in the air while ablaze

This argument is getting ridiclous. If you want features that should be in GT5, play another game. Yeah, that's the solution.

I am sick with such statements too!
Whenever somebody mentions legit criticism there is always at least one!

"WÄÄWÄÄÄÄ me plays best simulator - you go play noob game!"

I even tried it, blew out my FGT's tires, nothing happened besides it constantly spinning out untill the end of the races or a tire change

I think just about every other race sim arcadey type game has better damage than GT5. People cry about other games including the rewind feature, but in those games when you hit a wall at 120 you gearbox ceases to work almost at all, the suspension is causing severe pull in one direction, and your motor is just sputtering along about 3 mph........after one collision. Plus the car to car and car to wall collision physics are a big epic fail. No where near realistic, and the sounds of the collisions are horrible, unless using the hood or third person view..stupid PD. The damage in GT5 adds about as much to the game as B-Spec.....0.👎

This game is very unrealistic when it comes to physics, such as rollovers, damage, wheel to wheel contact, things like that.

Thats hardly an attitude that sells future copies of a game or improves a franchise.Good thing you dont work for sony or pd.

If that kind of crap keeps getting chanted without any recognition that there ARE issues and they need to be fixed. People will be leaving GT5 in droves.....Oh...hang on a sec. https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=176229

Do you want GT5 to be the game that people play for years and leaves a legacy and a reputation like GT4 did? Or do you want it to be a 2 month stepping stone that alot of people regret buying?

If you want it to be the first of the two. You have to be open to criticism and start accepting what people outside of your arms reach want from a title (and is reasonable to expect considering damage is not a feature in the rest of the genre, it is now a standard). Ill be honest bub, You and the 6 or 7 other people on this forum that think everything that drips out of kaz's rear end is gold arent going to cover the 80 million dollar costs of developing these titles. If sony want people to keep buying and keep this franchise profitible. They need to atleast polish what they are listing as "features" up to atleast the standard of what the rest of the industry delivers in every title they basically make. Dont make the mistake of thinking that the GT franchise exists like some holy deity that always has, does and will be. It is a business venture in a business world. It exists because in the past it has been very advanced and desirable, hence successful.

The current release feels very dated and to the majority of people, more like a chore than an entertaining experience. This sets up a very very big hurdle for the next release to overcome, and that is the sour taste left in the majority of consumers mouths after this bite. To get people to spend on the next one, First the this one will need to be fixed to a great degree to restore credibility to the name of the franchise. Then the next one will NEED to do everythign that every other sim does and more. Why that far you ask? Because that is what GT has done in the past, That is the reputation that GT has, and that is what people expect from the "king of driving simulators"

Amen^^. I don't think GT will change though. PD/Kaz don't realize or care how much better the other games are. They think GT is the only game out there. I'm about ready to trade my copy in, I'm 27 A-Spec and 14 B-Spec and just not having any fun. I thought online would save it, but its full of nothing but 1000hp 1000kg races that I hate. I just went back to FM3 and am loving the new cycled production car races, along with the new versus races online. PD could do soooo much more, but either can't or dosn't know how. I had enough of this. I played GT3 everyday until GT4 came out and was let down back then, now even more than that I feel screwed. Oh well Its just a game and I can choose not to play it.💡

true ChadSpeed, I went back to forza the other day too. I just find it more fun. Im going to miss alot of things about GT5's phyisics and graphics. But with every other aspect of the game so garbage its kind of like eating a REALLY nice $250 t-bone steak...straight out of the bin at the back of a restaraunt. The steak in essence is delicious and perfectly cooked and tenderised. But its taste is soured by the crap and garbage its sitting in...Id much rather walk next door where the I can afford to eat, The meal is cheaper, but not quite as perfect. But I can have a steak that might be a little tougher, it comes with a mediocre salad and some slightly undercooked oily chips. Overall, compared to eating the premium steak out of the trash. The mediocre meal at a table in the cheaper restaraunt gives a more enjoyable experience.

Great analogy, 100% agreed. I do love the way the cars move in GT, but like you said it surrounded by so much awful the good can only shine so much.

Even if there isn't good visual damage, I still wanted better crash physics. I mean, the cars should be able to climb onto each other or spin out of control after high speed wheel to wheel contact.
