I've been contemplating buying a Driving force pro wheel for a while now, but not sure i'm ready to dish out the money. :odd: It seems that I'm not getting the most out of my lap times with the DS2, maybe a wheel is just what I need. Has anybody else had this problem?

Also, to anyone who has a wheel, do you know what the major differences are from the DF and the DF PRO?

the major difference between DF and DF Pro is that on DFP you can turn the wheel 900 degrees(2 and a half rounds) just like a normal car. The only game I know about that supports this is GT4. I know there are people here that have DFP, so they probably know more than me.

How much rotation does the regular DF have? I heard it was 400 or 360, not sure its right, but that doesn't seem sufficient enough to drive a car

Yeah it is very expensiv. In norway DFP costs 1076nkr (exactly 158.38 US dollars). How much does it cost in sweden(if it is there you live) and other places?

120 euro = 987nrk
not bad. Which country did you buy it from? Are you happy with it? Thinking of buying one my self

Bought mine for 120 euros or so (Sweden/Stockholm/webhallen) and luve it. I dont accept anymore GT4P with a DS2. Same goes for my friends, they refuse to play GT4P with a DS2 as its not the same anymore : ) once you taste real honey you dont want to go back to lemons: )

So , the prices got a little bit down. I hope it's going to work fine with the DS2 for me tomorrow when I'm playing GT4: P.

Yeah same here, I have preordered the game, I'll get it tomorrow. I want DFP, But I really have to save some money to buy it because I don't really got the money for it now.
I remember I bought a poor wheel at Playstation 1. It was so sensetive... Really ruined the game with that wheel. I haven't really tried a wheel on a game since then. How is the DFP? It is not sensetive or is it?...

I'm going to wait for GT4 to buy the wheel.

I'm assuming it will be a little cheaper by then and maybe there will be some kind of official "pack" including GT4 + GT Force Pro, thus decreasing the price even more.

I really hope it's worth the wait.

But sticking to the subject, even in GT3 the wheel is worth every Euro (or penny or buck or whatever). I believe you are missing most of the action by using the DS2.

By the way, about that video. That probably isn't the most representative of the GT Force Pro wheel, since it's being used with GT3, and not making use of the 900 degrees capability.

Thanx for all the input guys, I think i'm gona buy it ASAP, kinda broke rite now:irked: now i know that it enhanced the experience, but did it actually improve your lap times by 5 sec or so? because I tried to imitate what a wheel would actually do, by slowly turning the analoug stick left then back to center, but my hands are just too shaky to actually do it at 100+ mph

also do you think that gt4 will have an option to change from 200 to the full 900 degrees of rotation? just in case i dont like the 900

I bought it on Amazon.de for €112 i think.....Very good wheel, but the 900 mode is sooo unusual with GT3.....haven't played GT4P :(

PS: You can switch between 200 and 900 mode at any time. Just press select+R3 ( i think) and right paddle all at the same time 👍

It improved my laptimes by 2-3 secs, but i can control understeer or understeer muuuuch better with it 👍

thank you puricele7e, very exited about it, i didn't know you could use the 900 in gt3? i thought i read somewhere that gt4 was the first game to support the full 900 degrees... huh...just an added bonus for when i pick it up :D

If I understand right you can use 900 degrees at any racing game, BUT it will now be the same as
games(GT4 is the only one i know about) who support the 900 degrees feature.

it depends on your personal level.
if you are already close to perfectness with the DS, then the wheel will not bring much gain timewise.
if you still in the learning curve, then your times will be significant better, given a second or one and ahalf second are significant to you.
but you can be sure that your times will drop first, you need some time to get adjusted to the wheel.
personally, i needed two weeks to match my previous DS times and from then on, times went stadily better.
not talking about the level of fun, believe me, once you´re used to the wheel you will use your DS only in cases when a wheel isn´t available.

well, Flinx, i'm not neccesarily on the learning curve. i'm pretty good, but most of my (best lap) times are around 10-15 seconds worse than the best time on gt-times.com. I don't know if that's good, but it ceartaintly isn't bad. I'm hoping that the wheel can bring me under a minute at laguna, around 55 at midfield, a 132 at ssr11 is pretty good. I'm preparing myself already, i'm gona buy an old car seat and make myself a cockpit!! i've got the plans down, all exited about it :D

which brings me to my next thought:::i know there are already some pics around the threads, but since this is a wheel thread, maybe you guys could post some Customized rigs? ya know, pictures of cockpits you made, if they work good or not, would be interesting!!

I'm very much from the school of making it as realistic as possible. I've got the DFP and picked up GT4-P last night - the wheel works a treat, much like a real car, in that for driving at high speed you really only need half a turn of lock for most corners, but in tight spots you can use all of the lock to turn the car more tightly.

The only real issue I have with that is that the 'self straightening' effect you get coming out of a corner isn't as strong as it probably should be, which can make it pretty ugly getting out of tight corners.
