Just wondering, could you use a front-wheel drive car and do wheelies with the back of the car in the air? :lol: Also, searching the forum, I found something about pop-up spoilers on the 3000gt and 3400s. I tried this but couldn't get it to work. :boggled: Any help would be appreciated.
 
You'd never get enough upforce to suck the back of the car off the ground. What makes cars wheelie in GT3 (and, in M/B's case, at LeMans) is that the front of the car gets pushed up on a "ramp" of high pressure air. But to lift the rear would require a wing made to generate lift, like an airplane wing.

Can someone explain this to me?

In that race (and a couple of other races) the was an incident involving a Mercedes (i think) where too much air got under the front. It started to do a wheelie and then took off. It went 50ft in to the air and landed about 100ft away in the forest.

You mean like this? Elliott Sadler got turned around at 190 mph and the upforce from under the car picked his car up in the air like a speedboat, and he flipped a couple times. It is basically the opposite of what happened at Le Mans.
(don't worry, Elliott walked away. These full-body stock cars do have their advantages when it comes to wrecks)

DQN, you're right, it was a CLK-GTR. I remember watching it on speed channel, it was shortly after I got Need For Speed III.

If you run an FF with zero downforce rear and 255 downforce front, and run reverse-ratio gears in your transmissions, it could be done. I might try it tonight.
 
It wasn't a CLK-GTR, it was a CLR, two different cars, the CLK-GTR's and CLK-LM's didn't have that design fault that allowed the air to lift it up like that, the CLR's while potentially far better proved a dissaster.
 
No, actually, he was shaken up, but not seriously injured.
