So i'm not too flush with cash at the moment but managed to snag a used DFGT on eBay for £55.00 including shipping, which seemed reasonable. However, i'm now looking at set-up options and can't really stretch to a wheelstand (and to be honest for their simplicity, they seem a little expensive)

Considered making my own out of wood or dexion, but my handyman skills aren't often called on and i'm not sure it is worth the risk, once i've paid for the materials.

So I am considering a reasonably sturdy-looking TV table such as this one, and was wondering if anyone has tried something similar, but more to the point, although it looks fairly stable and wide, would it likely be stable enough to deal with the resistance in the wheel (which I assume is adjustable, but take an "average" setting), or will the whole thing rock from side to side?

In a way i'm hoping the wheel isn't *that* stiff, as surely it would be uncomfortable to use after a while?

If I do go for it, I will of course report back on how it goes. An admittedly basic set up for around £70.00 can't be bad :)

I got a heavy duty TV tray from Wal-Mart worked perfect for me:

Was only like $20

My grandmother actually has a TableMate 2 and that was the first table I tried. It's really flimsy and would not recommend it even though the shape looks perfect.

I did however see a post of someone who modded a TableMate 2 on this fourm and it looked sturdy. He extended the legs with like 2 x4's I'm going to try and find it.

Well what you have there looks pretty sturdy and on a par with the one i was looking at, thanks for the info =)
