When will the rain stop?

Currently doing 24hr le mans with 908HDi and I was leading by 35sec at hour 5 when it started raining. Took on Intermediate tires @ 5% road wetness and full wets @ 72% all this while maintaining a 30sec gap between 1st and 2nd. At hour 14 and still raining and in 4th place. Speed 8 and C60 Judd are 1sec a lap faster in the rain and Im pushing as hard as I can without losing control of car. Average lap time of 4:06:324 and cause of this rain im 1 lap down. When does the rain stop if it does? I dont imagine its the same for everyone I just wanted to hear some good 24hr action stories cause mine at the moment sucks being in 4th while -1lap @ 14:37:> and with a BMW V12 LMR on my tale running around same lap times.
 
Like matty said it may not stop, I did the 24h le mans a while back & 23 of those hours it was raining -_- I dont know what BHP your 908HDi is but I used that car & I stayed 1st the entire race?
 
Also try using racing softs, believe it or not they are very fast in the rain.

Well, there's that too. I was actually going to suggest putting the Inters back on as I think they're better than wets in A-spec. But Racing Softs are probably better than either.

And if you become desperate, you can cut corners, but what's the fun in that?
 
The grip reduction level in A-Spec defaults to 'low', so slicks are faster than either inters or full wets 100% of the time, regardless of the amount of water on the track.

When I did 1000km Suzuka endurance, the race was competitive until it started to rain - the AI pitted for wets, I stayed on slicks and began lapping 10-12s/lap faster than the AI.

I don't think Fogerty was too concerned with when the rain was going to stop, but moreso with who was going to stop it.

I wonder if he ever found out?
 
Wets on front, Soft slicks on the rear. I was so much faster with that combination in that exact car (908).
 
Didn't spec 2 make it impossible to drive with slicks in the rain?

I tried to run around the Ring in a Caterham with Racing Hards while it was raining after Spec 2 came out and I couldn't get above 30 MPH and I had no traction at all!

But the 908HDi has different torque etc so it might be the car.
 
As Eric Draven sung: it can't rain all the time, cant rain all the time.... Clearly he hadn't driven a 24hr race :lol:
 
I find it hard to believe that it can rain for 24 hours in June, which is when the Race takes place.

Although it is possible for it to rain in June, and that it is entirely possible for it to rain for more than 24 hours, Excessive rain during the real 24h race in June is not very plausible.

I guess it's a part of the "un-realism" that follows the presence of LMPs and Group Cs in the race.
 
I ran it last weekend and it rained about what you are talking about, started 5 or 6 hours in and rained until about 4 hours to go. I ran it with the Speed 8 and I ran with softs during the rain it was a couple of seconds a lap faster.
