when you race, do you...

I have the phantom driving thing too...When I kinda just stare at the television my best laps come. When I think about doing a fast lap and analyze corners I screw myself over. Occasionally I'll lean or tap my foot but curling and tensing up my toes is the predominant quirk.

I lean with the car, tap my foot and make engine noises matching upshifts and downshifts. Anyone else go....
vuuummmmm (about to shift) duuuuuummmm ( shifting)
vuuummmmm ( accelerating) or am I "different" ? :thatsodd:

I know how you guys feel :p !I found myself at one point in time leaning within the corners as I was racing against my ghost at Tokyo and the closer I got to it,the heavier my breathing came!it was so intense!!I've also found myself shakin' my right leg up and down and also tapping my right foot at moments where the race would either just begin or where it would start to spice up with intensity!listening to some techno or as I listen to..Eurobeat,really helps I believe!it gives you the feel of an intense race,as if you were like really there!well, anyways,I've found that the biggest things that I do often during races is A.Not socialize till the race is over. B. Not piss till the race is over (there are exceptions some times :D!) C.Grit my teeth (with my mouth closed) if I'm getting really close to the wall. and D. this isn't somethin' I can actually help most of the time, but my heart begins to thump really fast,as if I may even have a heartattack at any moment (but of course I'm not =P) because of the intensity of the race!!!after the race I'm catching my breath for at least 20 minutes and it feels as if I'm swallowing something, but it's not goin' down ya know?have you ever felt that way?it's the intensity of the race!but that's just the stuff I do whenever I race, hehe

heh.i do that too AE86 driver:p

i have also been know to yell derogatorry comments at at my tv when im losing or if i lose by like .100 of a sec.!!!

oh yeah,I know how ya feel!that pisses me off soooo much !I was in this championship and I was beat by the RX-7 Type RS that wouldn't pit in until every 23 laps!!and when I was FINALLY catchin' up to him,it was on the last lap,and I JUST couldn't catch up to him,so I was beat by .073 seconds    !!!

I wheel the chair over from the computer desk and sit it infront of the tv. where I sit right on the edge of it leaning as forward as i can and no matter what anyone says to me it barely registers as I am consentrating so hard :p

i lay on a couch and i usually start driftin off to sleep....
eventually i'll realize i ran into a wall like 10 min ago and i've been tryin to go through that wall ever since

or I get up really early in the morning so no1 disturbs me while i am racing :D

*8am comes..... "David! David! where are you? come back to bed!"
*sigh* :p

I tend to swear at the television, sometimes loudly, to the annoyance of the ball and chain. :(

I lean with the corners and when I'm struggling (like, quite often) and having to push the car's performance the controller seems to float further away from my body as my arms straighten. :D

ive sometimes found myself leaning with the car

I lean and move and duck all over the place.

i once fell out of the chair leaning and stuff with Starfox64 .

with GT3, i lean toward the TV all the time - then i finish a race, and i can't remember sitting like that :thatsodd:.

It happens to me too. I am on lap 1, then all of a sudden I "wake up" and realize I am in lap 2 or 3, and I say, wtf did i do that? then when I really try to concentrate I crash or do the worst lap. I dont "lean"with the character but I just realized I am getting kinda stupid and slow in games. I mean, it takes me more time to get used from one control scheme to another, that happens with VC, I usually aim and then jump instead of firing.

I lean into the corners a bit with my head, and i am constantly tapping with my right foot.

So that's how you do it huh! That's the key to your blazing fast times? THATS IT? There must be something in the water over in Holland.

*note to self: Self, lean into corners with head, tap right foot, and switch back to auto transmittion. Import water from Holland.*

I find that my mind wanders and I think of other things other than the race. I've noticed this alot. I seem to be playing GT3 on autopilot so to speak while my mind just thinks of random thoughts. This is usually when I post my fastest laps.
This has happened to me many, many times. :o

I wiggle my bigtoe (left foot) and once I wiggled it so match that I got a big blister on the tow next to it.
Same time I also forget to blink my eyes and they will dry out, then start to run so badly I have to pause the race.

heh, i have done the eyes thing A LOT. When i finally remember to blink it feels like sandpaper and i can hear my eyelids crunching and scraping my eyes lol

My leg pumps up n down for some reason.. and if its a reaaly close race *ff stock cars pro* then i tend 2 grit my teeth hehe
some unknown reason... i tend 2 lead into the turn w/ my head... and then when i'm done.. i go* phew * friends call me funny, but, hey, thats how i race ;)

I sit right forward on my chair, elbows on knees. And when I'm trying real hard to get a good time I usually end up pressing my arms into my legs real hard, and holding the ds2 that hard it leaves an impression in my left hand :thatsodd: Also really sore thumbs
Don't think I have any of the moving or leaning, can't say I've noticed if I do that :confused:But Mr P does! he rocks back and forth when cornering, and curses at the tv with just about every single swear word there is! and has been known to throw the odd ds2 or 2 or 3 off the floor or wall if he messes up a real good lap. ( I don't know  )

I sit the same way. I don't really lean to and fro with the corners either, unless it's gonna be a REALLY close call with a wall or the edge of the track.

 I have been asked to rephrase this

Mr P SOMETIMES!!!!! leans or rocks back and forth in the corners only when it's a close call or pushing to the limits in a bend.
He said I made him sound like a retard rocking backwards and forwards tongue hanging out moaning like quasimodo      touchy git  :p :D

i usually find myself, when im in a tight spot in a race, to chatter my teeth without me even knowing. Then when i finish racing i find out that i've been doing that since the race started lol i sometimes find that open my mouth in awe when i race
