My issue is sorta hard to explain, so lets hope I explain it well enough now.

My issue is that I cant feel any transitions from grip to no grip when going through corners. Ill set an all too real scene for you: coming out of the second corner at Australia, illl begin to apply the throttle, like they would do in real life. The car willl grip fine, and then in a split second Ill be facing backwards or a wall, and I didnt feel a thing about a loss of grip through my controller (something I can pick up in GT5 rather well).

Why cant we feel the car begin to slide? The only clue I get is a rapidly spinning car, and by then its too late to save the slide anyway, and I end up losing a front wing.

Did you set the car up? The quick setups are quite useless in 2011, they're changing the wing angles and that's it. Might be that you're not having enough grip at all. Or you're simply applying too much throttle. :D

I generally make my own setups, although that may be part of the problem because I'm crap at it. But even if I don't change a thing, it still will.

And I feel I use as least amount of throttle while still being able to pull half decent lap times.

Is your throttle deadzone still at 0%? Might be worth setting it to 1% or even 2% in case it's too sensitive.

You can change that on Controller?

And I think the root of my problem is my ham fistedness and very early DRS activation in practice :dunce: It would still be nice for a bit more rumble though...

I'd think so since the triggers are having some sort of sensitivity, haven't tried, tho. :)

I found that the setups is kind of confusing. When you change something, it says something like "a higher value increases grip, a lower value increases traction". I thought that traction and grip where pretty much the same thing. So if my rear end go out when I get on the throttle in the exit of a corner, do I need more grip or more grip in the rear?

I have tried to alter the values a little, but I haven't found any changes at all in the handling of my Lotus..

Ok, so that means if I lose the rear end out of the corners I need more traction.

That'd be a good start, indeed. But losing too much cornering grip will make you drift away towards the kerbs. :)

Practice and no that track. and the car. you will know what corners you can floor it out of and when you cannot. just like where to brake and how much brake. just memorize how you the track and the car work together

I spent the whole first practice session for the 3rd race of my career (China) trying really hard to get a grip of the Lotus. I fiddled around with the settings but there was no noticeable change in behaviour. The car understeers into fast corners, unless sometimes in long sweeping bends if I enter the bend at a slightly lower speed, and get on the throttle in the middle of the bend, which causes the rear to go out in a high speed drift. But the worst is the oversteer that happens when I exit hairpins and slow corners (1st & 2nd gear).

I just can't find the treshold for when the rear will spin out. I first have to straighten the car out a lot, and then carefully get on the throttle. Sometimes I get trough it thinking "That was slow, I could have used a lot more throttle", sometimes the rear steps out while I get on the throttle. It's quite annoying:ouch:

Oh ok. I will wait to get online until they do.

Also, how can I tell if a race is of "20% or greater distance?"

Referring to the use of option and prime compound tires.

Nvm: I found it.
