Where Do Rockstar Go Next?

Unless they copy movies like Snatch etc. I think it's very hard to do a good story in London. I can't remember the last time a game set in London was really successful.

The Getaway had potential to be good, but they didn't make the Gameplay anywhere near good enough. Maybe they improved it in Getaway 2.

And I agree that they should set it out like Snatch or Lock-Stock. And make it almost as funny, in that English Underground Comedy way. I think it would be good, but I don't see anything being nearly as good as San Andreas. (in the GTA Series anyway)

The physics, graphics and storyline sunk that game like a lead pool que, I think that game was WAY overrated. I think London hasn't got the type of gang lifestyle that can be successfully emulated into a game.

With 'The Getaway' I think they spent WAY to much time doing the environment, (it was an ACCURATE model of almost all Central London for god sakes) and not enough doing the GAME part. They created this awesome environment, but then use a totally linear 'level' system, where one mission automatically leads on to the next. The only way you got to explore the map (with out any goals at that point) was when you compleated the entire game.

The second was supposed to be set in Liverpool, but when you spend (waste?) all that time on the modelling you my as well use it again.

I don't think that. It has quite a Gang Life. Probably second after America. Jamaicans, Triads, The London Mafia, Russians...It's just alot more Underground and less noticed than America.

And Russia would be all about Armies and Civil Unrest. Not my type of GTA game.

The Russian Maffia? The KGB? Holy **** man. Also yeah. The Russian Army. That'll make it way harder since the police don't do **** and the Army wouldn't rest until they got you. Imagine trying to get out of interogation :scared: ....... Not to forget the midget either

OMG, enough with the midgets already!

Yeah, it does have a big gang life, but I think it's just harder to successfully emulate their gang life in a game. I don't think I've ever seen such a thing happen and be a good seller. I think if R* did London it would decimate sales.

I'll admit. The whole midget thing isn't funny anymore.

Think about this though. You are being interogated at some Russian Army base. You escape to find no getaway cars, but fighter jets and helicopters.

It wouldn't matter what GTA comes next. Just make it easier to be caught. The cops are too easy to lose.

Exaclty. Like I said, America's gang life is more publicated, therefore sells better. England's (most notably London) gang life is also less marketable, not just because it is less known.

I really can't see Rockstar taking GTA anywhere else apart from where they've already been. New York, Miami and California/Nevada are the 3 most marketable places in America. London is the only other thing I can think of.

There are plenty of other places in America that everyone knows about, but I don't think there are many that are notorious for gang activity like the ones that have been done so far.

i really hope they dont do any asian country or british country or any where else than america! thats what gta is about american life but way exagerated. they also need to keep it in the new days because i hate olden day setting games. mafia anyone?

I strongly disagree. I think it would be awesome to do a GTA in any other country. Sure they can keep using the US, but wouldn't a game based in New Zealand be fun to you?

A game in Europe would also be great! 👍

I don't think so, as I said before it would be hard to emulate the gang life in any country other than America. Why? Because the American gang lifew is so publiciezed. Everyone know roughly about it, information is readily available to develepers etc.

For example tell me as much as you know about the gang life in London, now tell me what you know about the gang life in New York, I think you'll see the difference.

Ok, I see your point, but what about a GTA based in something like Russia? There's got to be a good way to add other countries in the GTA series, but I'll leave that to R*. BED!

One based in Russia would be good, but it would have to be set in the past, when the Russian Mafia was actually blowing stuff up (in there own country). Now 70% of the Russian Govt is, or is controlled by the Russian Mafia. I went to this restaurant in the Czech Republic a few years ago. About 3 years before I visited it it had been "visited" by the Russian Mafia, instead of fixing the restaurant they turned it into a museum and they left it bassically as it was. It was very strange, bullet holes were still scattered through the walls, tables and the link all splintered from machine gun bullets. It was a very odd experience. Anywho if they do a russian mafia type thing it should be like that.

The Russian Mafia is more notorious for acting outside of Russia, much the same as the Italian Mafia. The Italian Mafia was much stronger in Sicily than in America, but it was more notorious in Russia. A game in Russia wouldn't be good at all. Think about it. A GTA game in Russia. Just think about it. A big no.

I still stand by America or London.

I could tell you many things, but that's because I use to spend a lot of time studying all sorts of gangs. So I suppose that doesn't apply to me.

I see your point, too. I see an expansion of Liberty City. I see a bigger city, maybe other Islands apart from the 3 involved. How about those tunnels in ShoreSide Vale that were blocked off? Preparation for GTA 4? Who knows.

Next GTA could be like this:

- Miami
- Houston
- Mexico
- Cuba / Bahama / Jamaica

It could be pretty cool, having it loosely based different "countries". A lot of things you could do with that game.

Check it out - GTA: Jamaica

A lot of Jamaica is quite poverty stricken, but you also have the resorts. Seems like a good place to do it. Need health? Try some of the ganja, mon!

Or maybe something to do with the Japanese or Chinese mafia.

Jamaica would suck. Simple as that. A) There is no ganglife. B) It's too small C) Trying to get away in a rust-bucket, that lost it's WOF 10 years ago.

What about the Middle East? Or South Africa is pretty bad?

I havent read all the posts so I dont know if this has been mentioned but what about.

GTA : Sydney?

Actually, a hybrid GTA:Mexico/Texas would work very well. Think about it, you start off as a low level criminal in a poor part of Mexico, working your way up the drug smuggling rings that are rampant in northern Mexico, eventually progressing to live in the more upscale settings of Texas as you gain more power. Classic GTA storyline. I think this idea could fly, it sounds like it's R*'s type of thing. And, Mexico/Texas has not been done by R* yet, and there is plenty of gang life to play with in that area. I think that could be a great location for GTA4.

The Next GTA's going to London, set in 1969.
If you don't believe me, just wait.

Are you saying you know, or you think it is?

It won't be set in 1969 either. GTA 4 was confirmed by Rockstar a long time ago to be set back in the present. That is what brought the Liberty City extension rumours up. And the fact that it is 4, obviously after 3.

Mexico/Texas would be good, but nothing overly great. Houston? No. Jamaica? A definate no. Miami? It's already been done, but noone said something couldn't be repeated did they?

I'm still with London or a Liberty City extension.

I think they would make use of the airport so that u can fly to another state or country... For example... They wouldn't need a GTA:London.. if they mixed Liberty city (Or the whole NY) SA and London... That would give a different feel to each area making the game even more complete!! Though that means they need a big ass radio thing goin on cause they are in different places... But I think thats the way to go... I don't want a whole whole state like California... That would be boring cause the whole state has a theme of its own... Even if there is differences such as SA... BTW... What gang or mob goes out of state and has a international crime scene? Russian Mobs?
