Where does Watkins Glen rank for you in the GT7 track lineup?

Don't touch the line at all. Enter ASAP. Works for me.
I've tried coming in very slowly, completely clear of the line all the way around the corner, and still got a penalty. I've come in full chat and apexed the corner but then kept it tight and entered the pit and got a penalty.

Let's see, I would rate The Glen in my top 10. It is an absolute joy to run on and so much fun going through the chicane as flat out as possible! The course just begs you to take chances. I love challenging road courses that offer speed, technical, long, and something you have to drive (Not just turning left!). I've never been a massive fan of NASCAR, turning left all day is boring! I get it, they run inches apart. It's just not exciting to me. And, I've always been a huge Endurance fan. Reliability of the car, dependability of the crew, endurance of the drivers. Nothing compares to it! Purest form of racing if you ask me!

Spa by far has to be my absolute #1 for real life tracks! There is just nothing that compares to it. High speed, technical corners, elevation changes, long demanding track, and probably one of the coolest S curves of any track.

As soon as I exit the penultimate left hander, I stay all the way to the right, slow down and go round the corner with 2 wheels on the inside kerb. Very cautious but I've avoided the penalty so far. The start of the line is so hard to spot if you try to move over later.

I wonder if it's where you actually cross the line into the pit sequence. I haven't tested it fully but did notice if I entered on the right hand side I got a penalty so next time I stuck to the left hand side nearest the pit wall and didn't get a pen.

Might be irrelevant but worth an experiment.

I'm pretty sure that entry needs to have a better "border" in the game's code. The AI clearly cuts the line in their racing lines.

But pretty much what you said, stay inside of it and you don't get a penalty.

For me, definitely top 5, in the company of Monza, Sarthe, Trial Mountain Reverse and Kyoto. I also like Fuji and Autopolis very much too 🙂

The track is ridiculously beautiful when driving on it during dusk to nighttime settings. For me the glen has this certain charm about it that you can't quite find on other tracks.

A good new track really does reinvigorate the feeling around a game. Haven't seen this much universal acclaim since the yet to be matched excitement when we got Spa all the way back in GT5. Watkins Glen is particularly good for racing due to the high speed inviting overtaking opportunities, and the characteristics allow for multiple line options for many corners enabling more action and allowing you to avoid dirty air in ways you probably cannot at other tracks.

It really is a great track and it does a lot for both the track and GT that it is finally being appreciated on such a large scale. PD need to stop sitting on tracks like this and show us some more love. Those tracks teased in the trailer? Pikes Peak? Come along now.

A similar question. Does anyone know if you're allowed to cut across the pit entrance lane markers if you're NOT using it and instead are headed for the finish line? Or is that considered out of bounds?

That is allowed, it’s the racing line. You only get penalised if you are making a pit stop.

Is that true in real races too? Seems mildy dangerous as people entering the pits need to slow more than people simply taking the corner.

Yes, the pit commit line is well before the turn so they stay to the right instead of moving left for the racing line.

My first time on that track was in Project Cars 1 and it’s been one of my favorites ever since. Definitely top 3 in GT7.

It's right up there with Nurburgring, Deep Forest, and Trial Mountain as a driving course under the various lighting conditions. It flows so well and it's great for the big chunky cars.

I put it in my top 3. I just really like the flow of this course. And as a bonus its also the track that is physically closest to my house haha. I've driven to it once, but never drove it.
