Hi guys
I'm going into Edinburgh tomorrow and I need an answer.
Between "Game", "Gamestation" and "CEX"; who offers the best trade in price for PS2 games? I won't have that much cash with me and I want to maximise the amount of money/store credit I have.
Thanks 👍

I hear Blockbuster gives good prices on games. Better than Gamestop, at least.

Gamestop is terrible. But it doesn't matter because blockblister and gameslop aren't around Aldo.

The best thing to do is look up the shops you had in mind and give them a phone call. If they give you some BS about needing to see it in person without being able to give you a ballpark figure, then don't even deal with that store.

I just found this link and remembered this thread:
http://tivs.ca/

It's the trade-in value index used (or at the very least consulted) by a number of Canadian game retailers. The values are in $CDN, but a currency converter might give a ballpark estimate.

Cool
Thanks for that Boundary Layer
I'll take a look next time I go to trade in games ;)

Go to game. They are probably the only ones who take PS2 trade-ins at the moment. Unfortunately, no store will give you good prices for trade-ins. They tend to minimise the price they pay for your games but maximise the sell-on price. It's a sad fact these days.

Cash or credit? HMV seem to have the smallest mark down when you go for cash if you have access to one. Game will cut around 40% off at times to give you cash instead of credit which is really quite ridiculous, there's also a website (tradeyourgames possibly?) which offer good prices cash but you have to pay for postage and whatnot.

Generally out of Game and Gamestation, Gamestation are usually better on prices but it all depends on stock and such, I doubt any PS2 game will fetch much at all so it might be irrelevant. Don't be afraid to walk away if you feel you could get more somewhere else or aren't happy full stop (eBay them?).

Thanks for helping guys for that day I went into Edinburgh roughly a year ago.....
Anyway, most PS2 games are just being kept, but I can now start selling stuff on eBay without going through my dad now. 👍

I would say ebay, the trade in value at a shop is insulting. I got rid of my PS2 with all the peripherals and about 40 games (IIRC) for £60ish a year ago.

 didn't look at the dates, but still could be useful to others.

I will certainly be going to HMV alot myself now after my friend went around the major retailers with me looking for cash. Game dropped from over £50 to £30.20 when he asked for cash instead of credit! He ended up getting £40, but HMV do knock £1 off if the disc is deemed to need 'cleaning'. I was tempted to grab the disc off them and wipe it on my shirt then ask for the extra quid.
