Hey y'all,

Not sure if people talked about this, but seeing as we starting to see a new update on "New" cars for GT7, I wanted to ask all the good folks as to why we havent yet still seen the brand of KOENIGSEGG in this game yet?

Now I understand some folks her may say it a licensing issue or rights etc etc, but SONY and PD should have reasonable clout now to get such a great automative brand into this game. They managed to get Ferrari in a few GT versions back, so why not KONIG?

Players have been using their cars like the JESKO, AGERA and REGERA for years now in other gaming titles such as FORZA, NFS and ASPHALT/REBEL RACING mobile games and enjoyed playing with them.

I feel it a upmost necassity to have this brand in the game and make for some epic races within the later updates from PD. I am calling for more unique euro brands to be in GRAN TURISMO. Maybe even ZENVO????

We really don't know. PD probably hasn't approached them yet. As for all cases for a lot of other car brands, it's all down to licensing issues and... the money.

But they wouldn't be out of place in a game like this. At least some of the older cars like the CCX and the original Agera would fit in nice with the hypercar line-up of this game.

The monstrosity of the Jesko or One:1 though would be very lonely in this game as there aren't any other cars that "rival" them, unless cars like the Chiron are added alongside it.

If PD love their futuristic hypercars so much as evidenced by VGT, then you would think they would have a huge interest in getting Koenigsegg real life futuristic hypercars in the game.
Honestly its my #1 missing manufacturer. It wouldn't just be a pointless manufacturer to add one novelty car, they'd be adding a lineup of some of the fastest cars in the world to go up against Ferrari, Lambo, Porsche, Bugatti, etc.

It is enough for the PD to pay the royalties that the company requires. That was the answer Glickenhaus told a person a few days ago on Twitter, when asked when his cars would be in GT7.

Therefore, it is possible to conclude that the policy is the same.

PD probably doesn't want to pay. The reason is not known. Perhaps PD thinks that GT do the brands a favor when they publicize their cars and business through the game's catalog. Perhaps the PD finds royalties too expensive. We do not know.

We only know that Slighty Mad Studios, Milestone, Turn 10 and other developers manage to put a huge amount of cars and circuits in their games, but not the PD!

Hardly comparable Ferrari and Koennisegg.

One is the most iconic automobile brand in the world, wins and championships in F1 and Le Mans, the other a fairly recent very low volume car manufacturer with absolutely none motor racing involvement and most of us never seen one in person.

Some other manufacturers with much more pedigree still missing, like the already mentioned Lotus, Volvo or Lancia, Holden, Pontiac, Cadillac, Opel/Vauxhall, Bentley, Maserati...

I couldn't care less about having Koenigsegg in GT.
I already drove those cars in Forza Motorsport and I don't like them.

Opel/Vauxhall! Totally forgot about them! The Calibra Touring car would be an awesome return!

The Maserati Gran Turismo 08 is in the game, I know because I won some piece for it in the roulette.

It would be fantastic! But I have a feeling this car will never appear in GT again. The same goes for the Mercedes-Benz CLK Touring Car '00.

Why? Because they are DTM cars. DTM has exclusivity with iRacing. Legally, it remains only for PD to choose only one car from this sports league. This is in order not to configure the indirect use of the modality in a competitive game on the market.

As PD has already chosen Alpha Romeu, there will not be another one. That's what I read around here a few years ago and what I explained in this thread.

This is just speculation. I don't have anything concrete.

Someone who has more information or understands these legal agreements could explain further.

Isn’t the Alfa 155 a DTM car though??

Yes. That's exactly what I said. There is already a DTM car in the game. In theory, PD could not add more than one car from the league so as not to configure the enjoyment of the modality in an indirect way. That's what I read here, years ago. Motorsport leagues that have exclusive agreements with other game developers prevent the addition of more than one car. In other words, when GT4 had three to four DTM cars, it was because there were no exclusive deals with other developers like iRacing.

GT is perfect for Koenigsegg. In GT you can properly detune the engine so the cars become proper race cars (similar to homologated Forza One:1).

Reason why no Koenigsegg... Difficult to guess. Probably need to balance budget with range of the car list.

Sony is not like Microsoft, which can burn money like crazy on Forza (Game Pass playerbase very large for the game and tons of high profile brands/cars), they have a tighter budget. Also Forza Horizon is currently Microsoft's main, and only high profile game, while GT isn't Sony's top franchise (that would be God of War IMO).

Compared to NFS, Gran Turismo has a broader scope. EA can funnel resources towards modern cars. GT doesn't because Kaz won't. he'll add a few but he also wants things like the Barker roadster in the game, which is rare and expensive.

I think you mean Raceroom, not iRacing.

Where do you come up with this nonsense? GT5 at the time was one of the most expensive games ever. Nobody has ever said a Forza game comes close. Where does your intimate knowledge of T10 funding come from? Just because MS on the whole has more cash isn't proof they spend more money on Forza.

SMS has way more licensed tracks in pCARS 2 and that was on a tiny, tiny budget. Far less than GTs backed by Sony.

I thought Driveclub had some interesting high end cars - including a Koenigsegg - I wouldn't mind seeing pop up in GT: a Hennessey, Savage, Gumpert (what a name!), Marussia come to mind. I wasn't familiar with most of them but Google claims they all exist out there as actual products which to me is a bonus over futuristic concept studies that sometimes look a little interchangeable as if their designers all went to the same school together.

I'd take practically anything over more VGT cars. Literal ****boxes all the way up to high-end hypercars, megacars whatever. You nailed it, some of the VGTs look interchangeable indeed. Bland while still being over the top, it's ironic, but it seems the consensus is that no one really likes them except for young kids and Kaz himself.

I will say, some of them look alright. Some are atrocious, but others are decent. The Lamborghini VGT is kinda cool-ish.

Because PD no longer gives a ****.

There is your answer because we would have had Koenigsegg ages ago.

PD no longer cares about putting obscure brands like they used to.

Okay, boomer.

I can only imagine it's something like this...

Kaz: "We'd like to put your cars in our game"
Christian von Koenigsegg: "Great, I'm thinking of a number..."
Kaz: "I'm think of a lower number..."
CvK: "No"
Kaz: "k, bye"

Well said....

Now I'm jealous of SHMEE150, he is the luckiest sod to experience these cars firsthand, the tech/hardware in these cars are just mind boggling!

Further reiterates my point of why they belong in GT7 now more than ever!
