My a spec career is 36 and my b spec career and other than slightly grey colouration. I thought the damage started at level 20 and by the time i am as far into the game as I am 98% it was almost full damage. Does anyone else have this problem as I have seen trailers with bits of car falling off.?????

The damage is in at the start of the game. It's just not very high levels of damage, that's all. Also, the sayings of extra damage as you go further are all wrong.

Damage is the same whatever level you are. The only cars that have doors etc falling off are the 3 premium rally cars (Subaru, Suzuki, Citroen).

EDIT: I forgot the Ford.

Not the only. The BLITZ Skyline's doors can fall of.

Thanks for that i thought i was doing something wrong. I only have one Aspec le mans 24 h to finish and the 24 h nurburgring to finish all races:idea:)

Implementing realistic damage models would mean a hell of a lot more polygones.
The PS3 simply can't handle that...
Same as for cars behind smoke.
I personally don't care that much, as I intent not to crash ;)
Damage is there, it just takes a few collissions for it to get visible.
Not realistic but hey, we'll just have to accept it.

If realistic damage is so hard to do how come the xbox 360 copes well with realistic damage in forza 4 when the 360 is not as powerfull as the ps3

The PS3 can handle alot, and it can definately handle some damage. If it couldn't all those code masters game's like GRID and dirt 3 wouldn't be able to handle it. PD just needs to implement damage into there physic's.

I know what your up to young man.

Peeps are funny on the webz. Lol.

Please stop the "realistic damage" threads. Or, just don't call it "realistic". You don't want realistic damage.

Lol I can see it now. We get true realistic damage and a wave of complaining threads will pop up.

"I barely touched the wall going around the ring on my 4h endurance and my tire popped, tie rod and sway bar snapped in half, and it was leaking brake fluid and coolant. It took 15 mins to limp it back to the pits, and by then the engine was overheated and the wheel destroyed. It took my mechanics almost 2 hours to complete the repair, so I lost all chances of winning. I want less damage PD!!!"

^^^^hahahaha nice one

gotta love how the front bumper/headlights morph like liquid LOL last time i checked glass and plastic shatters it doesn't change shape

Say you were a high valued car company (Koneigsegg, for example, and if it was in the game) would you want YOUR masterpieces all scratched, dented, and non-masterpiece-ical?

you'd think car companies would be more worried about the initial state of the cars, and in PD's case they look amazing, damage happens over the course of the race, it's not like it will permanently disfigure their "masterpiece"

I don't think I have ever seen decent damage in a game with licensed production cars. They are all pretty god awful, but Gran Turismo is lagging behind the others for whatever that is worth lol.

GT5 is PD's first real attempt at damage though. So hopefully it will significantly improve next game...

Also I wonder if having a driver in the cockpit tames the damage too? I mean the cars in Burnout can get smashed so hard that the cockpit caves in entirely. But how could a game like GT get away with that while keeping it's family rating?

:) did you see that video, Forza evolution of damage.. Forza1, 2, 3, and 4 looks all the same.. after crashing 200 MPH in to a wall car gets one little dent and scraches all over the front.. even there where they shouldnt be.. :sly: very funny...

but the best damage I seen so far is Rally games.. or GRID. everything else (including my favorite GT5) damage looks like crap.

👍 i honestly would love to see that in my GT5! and no complains! I promise! 👍:)

yes! I would have nothing against it (but thats why Im no marketing specialist) still :)
