Where is the Pit Stop secret ?

Hi 2 everybody,

I have been playing Nascar the last weeks and I have seen something that looks strange for me, the issue is as follows:

It is a race where a Pit Stop is mandatory, I am leading the all race, I enter to Pits, load fuel and change tyres, someone else enter at the same time and some others make 1 more lap.

I see on the map the one who entered like me leaving first even though he enter pits maybe 2or 3 seconds later, I am still waiting on the pits even when my pit crew has raised their hands showing that their work is done. By the time I leave the Pits, the one who enter with me is not visible in the map at all, meaning he made a gap of maybe 6 to 7 seconds.

I´m finally released from the pits, I start to run again, make 1 lap and pass everybody who stops now for refuel, etc, I start to close the gap with the new leader and by the time I reach the pit stop area while racing, surprise everybody is out and I have lost 4 to 5 positions.

So my question is, Where is the secret to make a fast Pit Stop and avoid that my precious leader gap is sent to the garbage ?

If someone know the answer pls let me know, I have lost so many races because of this issue that ain´t fair that being the leading guy in the race after the pits I am not able to finish even 3rd.

Tks to all and keep running.

It's a penalty for entering the pits too fast. Just slow down to about 30(?) MPH before going in and you'll be fine 👍

This. If you steam in then it holds you back at the end of the stop.

What I usually do is put when I need tires, get no fuel, and exit. I do that until I get low on fuel (roughly 1/8-1/16 of a tank), then pit for fuel when it starts to get into the red.

Thats just me though.

Thks Mr. Dinosaw and to all the rest, I guess that´s the reason, I was entering Pits on the 3rd Gear LOL, I guess is not F1 2010 right !!!!

Now I know why I was hold in Pits for sooooooooo long.

Cheers and keep running

I regularly enter the pits at around 110 to 120mph with never a penalty so unless he's going alot faster than that, its probably the gas like others have said. Daytona does not penalise you for speeding unless you are going excessively fast. I have proved it over and over again to other people so I know this to be fact. I'm talking NASCAR cars btw, not sure about other cars.

I think the game holds at 47mph when it auto-drives the pit lane, try slowing below that when you enter. Also bear in mind that the pit crew rely on some piddly little handheld fuel canister and gravity, rather than a high-pressure hose like most race cars would use, so it takes aaaaaages for your juice to glug into your petrol cap.

I enter at below 100mph to be safe, as pit speed limit can vary. Things that affect the speed limit for you are: whether there's another car in the pitlane when you enter, and whether you are in the first couple of pitboxes. Both of these will mean that the speed limit is lower than normal.

With no other cars in the pits, and assuming you're not in the very first pit box, you can enter at a maximum of 125mph, any faster will give a penalty. If your'e in the very first pit box, with no other cars in the pits, it'll be 118mph. I don't know what it is for if there's other cars in the pits, but it is less, which is why I go for about 100mph usually.

(Only applies to NASCAR at Daytona. You'll get different results with other cars, and at other tracks too.)

EDIT: If you're racing at Indy and not Daytona, I also have the speed limit figures for there. I'll post them if needed.

You're probably entering the pits too fast. Find out the normal pit cruising speed and try to slow down to that. Some tracks are different think. Only if the game told you this.

Exactly this. I couldn't remember the exact figures but I have tested this extensively myself. Thanks for laying this out for everyone.

Hey DrifterJoe, thanks for your input, this info give me a good picture and yes I was talking about Daytona circuit, I forgot to mention that.

By the way which will be the Pit Stop speed limit for the Indy circuit ?

Tks in adv and keep running.

NASCAR at Indy: Assuming there's no other cars in the pits- speed limit for the first pit box is 161mph. Second pit box is 185mph. Third pit box onwards is 197mph. With other cars in the pits- speed limit for 3rd pit box onwards is 185mph.
