First of all, I know that there is a general thread for GT5 car sounds. However, considering that PD staff do read these forums, they do need a better way of deciding which cars to fix (if they ever do it, that is).

Mods can close this if you feel that this wishlist can be put under the general GT5 sound thread :)

Do include a reason for the fix intended! Anyways, my list:

1. Pagani Zonda R '09 (V12 engine, sounds like a V10, and not loud enough)
2. Enzo Ferrari '02 (Horribly wrong to have the sound taken from a flat-plane V8)
3. Lamborghini Murciélago LP640/670SV (Similar sound to the Gallardo, which is a V10, not V12)
4. Audi R10 Tdi Race car '06 (Generic engine sound shared with the Minolta and many others, a quieter, diesel recording would do much better)
5. Peugeot 908 HDI FAP '09 (Similar to the R10)
6. Mclaren F1 '92 (Vacuum cleaner sound)
7. Mclaren MP4-12C (Same as above)
8. Mazda 787B (Overrated IMO, the real one has a much more raw sound)
9. Dodge Viper (Way too over-synthesized, and far too quiet)
10. Corvette C6 Z06 RM (The titanium exhaust shouldn't include chiselling off 2 cylinders from the engine :yuck:)

I really believe that if PD included the sound from superchargers, turbos and various other specific sounds, the sounds would be fine.

As a stop gap, making the engine and exhaust louder would do wonders.

I agree with you on the Dodge Viper. I was so disappointed when I first heard it.

Jaguar XJ13, Ferrari 330P4, Tommy kaira ZZII and anything sounding similar to it, Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 TC and anything sounding near it. I think I just covered like half of the cars in the game with those last two. By the way, I would keep the Murcs sound, not for the lack of realism but because it sounds plain awesome anyway.

^ Let's hope PD puts the current Murc sound for a Gallardo sports exhaust, while updating the Murc's sound, two problems solved :sly:

The main rotary engined cars - Mazda 787B, Furai, RX-7 and RX-8;
Some LM cars - Toyota Minolta, GT-One, one of the Pescarolos.
And of course Ferrari Enzo or any Ferrari, any of the Mclarens and the Corvette C6 Z06 RM.
Also any of the Subarus.

They have the BOV for turbos, not sure about Superchargers

I could say all the cars in the game, and make you the list of 10 cars with nice engine sound...

Very good list, the SV needs changing as well, I would also add the citroen c4 rally car, aston martin db9 and bugatti veyron :(

I'm surprised you didn't mention the Mercedes Sauber C9. If you think the McLaren F1 sounds like a vacuum cleaner, you'll just plain out hate this cars sound. I think they should've kept the same sound from GT4. Back then that sound was actually closer.

Has anyone heard the sound of Camaro SS '00? It's so silent that you can't almost hear it.

All the Ferrari (except F1's) and Lamborghini need a sound overhaoul.
Reason: as you know, they don't sound anywhere close the real thing, not by a long shot. More powerful/ferocious sound needed, also get rid of the whine synth/vacum cleaner PD. That's your problem.

^ I think you nailed it.

I would add almost all American cars to this list.

The 2010 Camaro sounds HORRIBLE
Also some of the older Muscle cars, such as the Cougar.

I would say lets dump about 300cars from this game and fix the rest. :)

Do we really need 20+ evo sti skyline rx7 miata... etc.

1.)Toyota GT-ONE (Sounds nothing like the real thing)
2.)Sauber Mercedes C9 (Also sounds nothing like the real thing)
3.)Bugatti Veyron (Also sounds nothing like the real thing)
4.)Jaguar XJ220 (Sounds really strange)
5.)Chevy Corvette C5R (Sound needs to be deeper)
6.)Peugeot 205 T16 Rally Car '86 (Sounds like all the Evo Rally Cars)
7.)Peugeot 905 '92 (Does not sound like the real thing)
8.)Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak (Sounds like the Peugeot 905)
9.)Audi R8 Race Car '01
10.)Chevy Corvette ZR1/Z06 RM (Sound also needs to be deeper)

I mainly want the Sauber and GT-ONEs sounds changed. They're so unbearable.

Excellent thread. Here are my top:

Viper GTS: It has the same sound since GT2. Sounds nice, although it is a strange sound that doesn´t match the Viper´s V10. This car was my major dissapointment, because I was really looking forward to enjoy it in GT5.

Viper ACR: Sounds strange. Like a big 4 cylinder of some sort. The good thing is that this car can be fixed. I´m not sure if it´s the sports or semi-racing exhaust, but one of these has the real Viper sound.

Viper SRT10 Coupe: It does sound like the Viper, but the sound is too soft. Doesn´t really need to be fixed though. Plus, just like with the ACR, either the sports or semi-racing exhaust makes it sound like it should.

McLaren F1 The stock sound is just a modified version of the Cizeta´s sound sample.

Ferrari Enzo: The same sound sample that the 458 was used.

Mercedes 300SL (Gullwing): Sounds like a 4 cylinder when stock. The sports exhaust makes it sound like a 6 cylinder, though. Curious enough, this car sounded amazing in GT4 when stock. It had a nice old inline 6 engine sound.

Viper Oreca: Has the generic racing V8 sound. It´s cool, but it is incorrect for this car. Plus it´s a way overused sound in the game.

Corvette C5R: It´s funny that they had the time to incorrectly change the Viper Oreca´s sound putting a racing V8 on it, but used the generic vaccum cleaner with the C5R.

Cizeta-Moroder V16T: BEFORE YOU INSULT ME, PLEASE READ. This is probably the most faithful engine sound sample in GT since GT4. It sounds like the real thing! But for some reason, in GT5 there is a "cut" in the sound when reaching above 5k rpm. Then they filled in the sound with the same sample. This didn´t happen in GT4. It´s like the problem thet the LFA had before they fixed it.

Murcielagos: I haven´t updated GT5 since I got a new PS3, so I don´t know if they been fixed. But when stock, they sound like having a V10. Actually, it´s the same sample used in the Gallardo.

BMW M3 E92: Sounds ok, but the sound is too high pitched. For some reason, it´s missing that grunt. Listen to the Standard Street M3 GTR, that´s how it should sound.

BMW M3 E46: It uses the same sample that the E92 has. So basically, we have a stock M3 with a V8 on it. It makes me scratch my head, because in GT4 it did sound fine. The exhausts don´t help at all in this case.

BMW Z4M: They used the same sample that the regular Z4 has, but of course, it revs higher. It´s sounds nice with chase cam, but it sionds really weak in cockpit view. It sounds nothing like an "S" series engine, but more like a regular "M" series. It´s funny, because like I mentioned before, PD already has the sample from the S54B32 engine used in the E46 M3 from GT4.

Jaguar XJ220: The car sounds great, but I can´t figure why PD changed the sound on it since it already sounded like the real thing in GT2, GT3 and GT4!

Citroen GT: I´ve seen videos of the test mule running, and it´s clear that it has a plain big block V8 in it, just like it states in the game. So why did they use the same sound that the BMW M5 has? They could easily use that generic racing V8 sound they use in various V8´s in the game. It´s funny how could they fail in a car that they basically designed.

Bugatti Veyron: I don´t understand. When you start the car, it sounds like the Veyron. When in idle, it sounds like the Veyron. Passed 1500 rpms until the end, it sounds like a V10?!! It´s like they could only record the car starting and idling. They could have easily filled in the sound with a soft and grunty V8 sound like the old Camaro or something. Although a W16, strangely, the Veyron sounds like a V8. Reffer to other car games that feature the Veyron. They got it right, although they lack in sound quality.

I can´t think of any more now. I actually have to bow in respect towards PD, becasue I´ve seen hundreds of cars in the game that have had their sound fixed. Most of these had an incorrect sound in previous GT´s. So again, the efford is much appreciated.

WERE ARE GETTING THERE PD!!

THIS +INFINITE

I also HATE how the C9 sounds!!!

The Sauber Merc has the WORST engine sound of them all... It hurts my ears!!! :ouch::sick::yuck:

Not to mention the GT-One has the same engine sound... 👎:grumpy:

PD... DO SOMETHING!!!!

Corvette RM models. The Semi-Race exhaust on the vettes sound like a V8 at least, but the RM model forces you to run the full titanium race exhaust.... which sounds like a straight piped rotary. :yuck::yuck::yuck:

Many other V8 powered cars suffer from the sports & race exhaust "cylinder loss" sound issue. SLR, Mustang, Camaro, etc. and the Vipers are all sorts of messed up.

There are many (many many) cars in the game that sound bad, but only two of them sound so bad that they give me a legitimate headache every time I use them:

The Chaparrals.

I wonder if they could upgrade sounds in a update.

^ They did with the LFA, so it's just a matter of IF they want to do it.

By "cut", do you mean that they stuck on two samples and used separate ones for certain RPM ranges? I think I've noticed a similar thing on the Mazda Lantis with semi-racing exhaust - it sounds a lot quieter to begin with, then buzzes well and truly up again. And I do agree that it is a great sample, although finding sounds of the real thing are a lot tougher :sly:

Here's my list of 10.

1. Lexus LFA
2. Mercedes SLS AMG
3. Mercedes C63 AMG
4. Ferrari F430 and F430 Scuderia
5. Ferrari 458
6. BMW M3 E92
7. Peugeot 908
8. Aston Martin DB9
9. Subaru WRX STI
10. Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution

The M3 e46 off course they used the v8 m3 e92 sound wtf
They can use the csl sound.
Because its not a Japanese car they don't care

LOL That would make sense if the japanese cars sounded good.
They should also change how some of the cars sound with racing exhaust.

"Vtec Kicks" need revising!
Subaru Impreza's are some of the coolest sounding cars ever, not in GT5.
Camaro and Corvette Racing exhaust have more Vtec kick then Honda. -__-
The 787B sound amazing in real life, not that great in GT5.
Zonda R Sounds good and all, but it needs fixing.
Dodge ram sounds JDM with racing exhausts,
The turbo sounds are good, but when compared to FM4 they are garbage.
The 908 and R10TDI sound nothing like they should.
Rotary in general, Sounds amazing between 800-3500RPM and then they get wild sounding in the high RPM so IMO the RX-8 at least is fine.

I really believe that if PD included the sound from superchargers, turbos and various other specific sounds, the sounds would be fine.

As a stop gap, making the engine and exhaust louder would do wonders.

it's all about using a surround system and having the sound setting in the GT5 options menu set to small theater. turbos and superchargers sound realistic. You can tune the sound of your system to your liking by adjusting front to back volume. back speakers make exhaust front make the engine, turbo and supercharger sounds. Refer to video below as well

The F1 cars definitely need an upgrade. Like most games they can only seem to muster up a whiney annoying sound rather than anything approaching a realistic representation of what they actually sound like. Having seen the F1 cars this year at Silverstone there's a ridiculous amount of potential. Awesome grunty bassy notes, ridiculously high pitched whines..... the current sounds are just the bare minimum, if that.

I just don't know how/why they can't capture the real essence of these kinds of sounds. Even Codemasters F1 2010 does a pretty good job at least replicating what watching it on TV sounds like (but the TV audio massively misrepresents the power of the real thing to begin with). GT5's audio for the most part is like 8 bit audio in comparison to that!

That´s it! Thanks. I couldn´t explain it in my own words.
