since no one semms to want to ask the next question
how about mitsubishi lancer7 vs 2001 subura wrx sti

if it`s the normal wrx sti the evo VII.

the normal wrx sti isn`t that much of a rallycar....

Ford Puma will win :)

what about honda SI vs dodge neon (in NFS:U i'm not sure what kind of neon it os :dopey: )

Neon

Fabia WRC vs. Octavia WRC

Note: Pick any year your heart desires

Nissan Skyline

Toyota Supra

Mazda RX-7

Which year, and which one? So it's two questions, really. What's the best year for each of those cars, and which of those 3 is best?

I say the 2002 Spirit R RX-7, would be the best year. I believe it'd be faster around the track then both of those cars.

Gentlemen, the rules of this game are simple. You pick a winner and optionally provide a reason why the car you chose wins. AFTER you pick a winner, you propose two new cars. Optionally, you provide a venue for the race.

Got it? Great. The last valid question was ultrabeat's.

Fabia is newer than the Octavia, right? Fabia it is.

Next challenge.

The cars: Saturn Ion Redline vs. Acura RSX Type S

Venue: Road America

M

Not too familiar with Saturns being from the UK and all but I reckon they RSX Type S would win if it's anything like the same as the Integra Type R. The saturn has it out gunned on torque but the top end power and extra ratio of the Acura/Honda would make up for it a bit and I'd hazard that the honda's chassis is better in the twisties and is probably lighter and can most likely stop quicker too. The integra has a reputation over here for being one of the best handling fwd cars ever.

If that's good enough then how about

BMW M3 (manual) vs Porche 997 Carrera

Venue: Donington Park National

The Porsche, it weighs less and it handles better. While the M3 has just a little bit more power.

Noble M14 vs. Ferrari 360

Venue: Suzuka

M14 because it's less skitish on the limit, has more grunt and Noble rule :)

Mondeo ST220 vs BMW 330i

ST220 probably, because it handles better through corners than the "ultimate driving machine"

Lambourghini Diablo GT vs. Lambourghini Gallardo

Venue: Santa Pod Drag track

Diablo GT. Quicker to 60 and lighter.

Koenigsegg CCR vs McLaren F1

Venue: Nurburgring Nordschliefe

Mclaren f1, can't touch the legend !

Schuey's F1 car VS FTO Lemans car

tahiti Road track

the F1 car, since F1's aren't even close to the same class as LeMans cars, not even LMP1s...

Koenigsegg CCR vs McLaren F1

Venue: Nurburgring Nordschliefe

I want another opinion on this matchup, with more than just "McLaren F1 is a legend..."

Big Mac still rules. But it will do it all on the main straight. Most of the north loop is 'slow' corners. At low speeds (less than 100 mph), the F1's ground effects aren't going to give it any signifigant advantage over the CCR. I wager a dead heat between the two, maybe with the CCR ahead a little because it has slight more advanced suspension tuning.

Until the long front straight, where the CCR's open top aerodynamics is simply not going to be clean enough to catch the closed F1. Even down almost 200 hp, I believe the lower weight and superior top end of the F1 will still do it.

Next up: two eras collide

Porsche 550 RS Spyder vs. Porsche Boxster S (3.2)

Venue: Nurburgring F1 circuit

M

I think I disagree. The CCR is only open top if you take the roof off for starters and even the standard (if you can call it that) CC can top 240mph, just like the McLaren so it's cd must be close to if not better than the F1.
Then figure in 10 years worth of chassis technology advancement, 1.3g lateral accel, better brakes and a whole lot more power and I reckon the CCR would have it, provided that monstrous power doesn't make it undrivable.
If you see a McLaren F1 being driven hard it just looks a little uncomposed with too much body roll compared to more modern stuff. It's still a wonderful peice of engineering and extremely fast but it's no longer the ultimate road car I think.
Also, a £50k Ultima GTR just spanked it for the world 0-100-0 record by nearly a whole second with a 6.2l 640bhp naturally aspirated chevy V8 in the back :)
British cars with american muscle, gotta love em 👍

Edit: I just looked up the drag coefficients of both cars. Macca has 3.2 and CCR 2.97. Also the 0-100-0 record was set by the LM edition with less weight and more power (53bhp to be precise) than the standard F1.

Fair enough. I wasn't aware ther CCR had a targa panel like the F50. Open top cars have huge aerodynamic drag losses that limit their top end acceleration.

The standard F1 road car is tuned 'soft' because Gordan Murrary wanted to build a road car, not a race car. Thus it had to have a degree of compliency. It certainly wasn't soft because McLaren couldn't figure out how to make it firm as hell. That in mind, I actually believe softer spring rates will probably serve the F1 at the Ring because many sections of it are quite bumpy. Firmer isn't always better.

The one area where the F1 will have a big advantage is ground effects. They spent a lot of time and money managing air flow and getting a huge amount of downforce on the car without the need for huge spoilers.

Anyway... back on topic.

550 Spyder vs. Boxster S... anyone?

M

If you look at the lines of the car it was always meant to have a roof, whereas the F50 doesn't look like it was.
The CCR also has adaptive dampers and clever anti roll bars.
I'd have thought it's aerodynamics must at least be on par, it has lower drag and potentially greater top speed so I'd imagine it has enough downforce.

The reason is the track....its a dirt track, alot more to consider than a tarmac track

550 Spyder vs. Boxster S... anyone?

Spyder, it has marginally better poise but a big advantage on power.

Lambourghini Miura vs E type Jag!!

E Type Jag....
Bullet proof reliability on the track, were as the Muira...

Cars: 1968 Shelby gt500-KR ( the KR is important ) VS. 2002 SVT Mustang
Event: 1/4 mile drag

1968 Shelby gt500-KR: 14.57@99.55 mph

2002 SVT Mustang: est 12.9 sec @ 111 mph

So the Mustang

DeTomaso Pantera vs Lancia Stratos

^ Must disagree with that....

The information provided by Shelby was incorrect on that engines hp...only insiders knew its true potential. Shelby had the 68 gt500kr listed @ 335 hp, but it actually made closer to 400 hp. Car and Driver had it run 12.75 and that was on its original rubber....

Maybe, but if you google for "14.57@99.55 mph". You will get many different pages all stating that is the time for the gt500-KR. But how about my comparison?

^^ as for the Pantera and the Stratos

Detomaso Pantera 310 hp, 380 ft-lbs. torque - 0-60 miles 5.5 sec top speed 147mph
lancia Stratos 190 HP , 167 ft-lbs. of torque - 0-60 6.2 seconds, top speed 130 mph

The Winner is Pantera !!! ****guitar riff ****
