Which cars in GT5 sounded realistic that should be in GT6 unchanged

Despite having sampled and recorded live engine response sounds. The actual sound intergration by Polyphony Digital into GT5 hasn't been optimised and syncronised accurately. Most of the cars sound nowhere near true to the real cars. I think there are exceptions like the Nascar cars, the Nissan GTR and Ferrari 458 at redline that sound pretty much spot on, and shouldn't be adjusted for Gran Turismo 6.

In my honest opinion they all need to be redone. If they leave any alone the (C6 or C5 I forget which sounds "just ok") Z06 and the GTR are the only cars, that I can recall (shows how much I have played GT5 lately) that are even remotely close.

None. Even the ones where PD did take an adequate recording of the exhaust (which is a small list in and of itself), none of them really sound "right" because PD didn't record any sounds in addition to the exhaust (intake in particular, but that's not always the only thing neglected); nor is the way that the sounds are scaled along the rev range very good.

I've done a comparison between some of the more accurate sounding cars right here.

There's still a long way to go for PD when it comes to the sound department. As you can see, there's still plenty of room for improvement, and instead of keeping the sounds unadjusted, I feel they should always work on improving them.

To be honest, I have my doubts on whether PD will change the sounds for all the cars again. And even if they did, they'd still be terrible. But hey, at least they're aware of the bad sounds.

WoW look at all the tape on that ZondaR.

On topic, I hoping that GT6 sounds a lot better. The engine sounds in GT5 are pretty bad in every car unfortunately. Let hope it's much better in GT6.

Really?
Do you think this:

...is a good representation of this:

No, they're only vaguely similar. The real one sounds much different, with a completely different level of detail. What is your listening gear?

GT5 NASCAR does not sound like this

I think the #99 Ford Fusion 2011 is the closest in GT5 and the Jeff Gordon cars are ok, but I agree, needs work :) And I *Hate* the way the engine noise is way off balance to the left or right. Those things are LOUD and you should hardly have any sense of the noise being so directional.

I'm allowed a differing opinion, right?

Off course you are.

Your the only person I've read that has said all sounds are good and not to change any.

What sound system are you using? Anything specific that makes them all good?

I have no sound system what so ever. As for them sounding good to me, well, I can't really tell the difference between the real life thing and the thing in the game.

Best to stay in that state of mind. Don't go looking for comparison's and all will be good.

We've proven quite a few to not be accurate but I struggle to believe you have heard all 1000+ cars in the game in detail in real life!

It's not just a matter of accuracy, but mainly realism due to lack of detail (number of sources, apparent lack of insight of what causes noise in cars, etc) and "texture", although the sound engine/management/general sound physics system appears to be significantly better than the competition in most areas.

Other sims might have realistic, but inaccurate and "flat" sounds which sound natural only when using certain views or running at a certain pace.

You're trying to imply that there is at least one car in GT5 that sounds realistic? An example would help.

This, definitely this. While many games manage more realistic engine sounds, it's the same sound no matter the view, and, most of the time, the engine sound is not the same as the exhaust sound.

I have to hand it to PD for being one of the few racing game developers for actually having differing sounds, no matter how crap the sounds actually are.

As I've said before the C6 Z06! Also the GTR sounds realistic and so does the newer Impreza's as they are the Japanese models with the smaller higher revving 2.0 engine which is not as deep and rumbly as the 2.5 is!

How about Miura? Zonda C12S 7.3? Lister Storm? Aston DB9 (Premium, don't know about the standard one)? 458? LFA? XKR? ZR1? 787B?

Well, The final 4 listed should be tweaked a bit, but they're still relatively close to real sound.
