I've been searching around but I havent had much luck with this. If I'm asking in the wrong place or asking something thats been asked a million times please point me in the right direction. I'm wondering which headsets people are using while racing online. I'm looking for one myself but I'd like to get an idea of what everyone around here is using.

I've looked at the one sony makes for the ps3 and it has mostly positive reviews but the negative ones are pretty negative. It seems thats my best bet though as far as price. Any other suggestions and/or observations based on your own experiences with this headset or any other ones that work well with the ps3 would be appreciated.

use the sony one for the ps3. not the cheapest but works great. better that wasting your $ on a cheap one to find it blows, then have to get another

I agree. Just bought mine. Been using a cheap one, now everyone can tell a difference.

Wired all the way - look at tritton 720's or pros...I've used both...they are awesome! Not quite as good as the astro's but super nice!

You won't regret it...I have over 500hrs played on the ps3 in battlefield bad company 2 alone...it's also great to talk in the racing lobbies :)

I've used the same £20 one for all games I've played online since I started... no point in buying really expensive ones if you ask me.

Hi!

I run with a set of Turtlebech PX 21's they are the usb type so they never need to be recharged. They sound really good! :sly: They are pretty light too! They run around $80.

I use Turtle Beach PX21's, they are very good i highly recommened them since they arent too much, £50, and the sound quality is very good, and you can easily chat while playing :D

Recently picked up a set of Logitech F540 and think they are great.

Wireless for audio and chat, which has been rock solid, no drop outs. Battery is good too for around 8-10hrs (I charge mine over-night). Cups sit tight on the head and cancel out a lot of background noise. It can get quite warm in there though!

Also has multiple inputs which is pretty useful. Audio quality is very good, though I've heard it said they miss low end bass. It sound to me more like mid-range is weak, as bass sounds pretty good. Audio and chat have their own volume controls on the head-set which is very convenient. Chat microphone quality is excellent.

They are somewhat pricey, but having had them for a few weeks, I can say they are good value. I am prepared to be critical when it is necessary (especially with audio gear), but I have found the F540 a joy to use.

I got a 30$ motorola bluetooth from my cousin works great. Nothing I can say negative about it other then the fact it doesnt last for like 8 hours straight

If your looking at Tritton's and Turtlebeach's make sure you check out Astro A40's. I own the A40's and they are epic. You can use them on PS3/X360/PC and they sound pretty damn good. Bit pricey though, but if you play FPS's its worth it. If your only going to use them for GT5 i'd look at something cheaper.

I run an Astro Mixamp and a set of Sennheiser HD555. Fantastic sense of surround sound, which is not really utalised in GT5. MW2 on the other hand.....

If I need to chat with mates I just hang a cheap Gioteck EX-01 bluetooth piece off my collar.

I have Sharkoon Xtatic 5.1 Digitals. Pretty impressed with them but I'm sure there's better out there by now.

I have the Sony bluetooth one, around 60us I think it was. Only gripe is that it makes your ear hurt after a couple hours. Its almost like the rubber piece that goes into your ear is to large or something. Sounds great and works great though I would buy another one.

Sony Bluetooth Headset 2.0. Works great both in reception and recording. The only problem I have is I tend to forget I have it on and nearly walk out of the house with it.

Turtle Beach PX21 here. Just got them recently and the sound is excellent. I have used them racing in my Lounge against a friend with the same headset. The chat audio quality is better than any phone conversation I've ever had. Really outstanding. I dunno how much of that is attributable to the headset rather than software but in any case they work really well. They are lightweight and comfortable too so you win all round. 👍

I also added the Turtle Beach DSS sound processor for watching movies and that works nicely too. Doesn't compare to a true surround sound setup of course but it's a very acceptable alternative when you can't have the volume cranked for all to hear !!

Wrong forum.
Also wired headsets are impossible to use when you have to recharge your controller. If you use your wheel all the time but controller for the menus will it use less battery or is it just being turned on that takes battery?

I have the official Sony bluetooth headset and the only thing i don't like about is that it doesn't fit in you ear well.I think they made the earpiece too large. Also with this being this way it's hard to hear what others are saying even with the headset's volume turned up.

To be honest i don't even use it anymore because of this.I'm planning on getting something else, but one thing is for sure i'm going to make sure it fits snugly in my ear before buying.

It depends on your needs.

If you just want something so you can chat then a bluetooth headset is ok, but there is the battery life and forgetting to charge it before a session, as well as others can hear feedback/ game noise from you, depending on how loud and how close you sit to your tv. If you don't care for that then this is the option.

If you want to be able to hear and produce clear chat, let your online racers hear only their engines, the folks around you at your house hear no engine unless they want to of course, and have a comfortable set that's always ready to go then I would have to suggest Turtlebeach PX21s or better. IMO, in the long run your money will be better spent here.

The new version of the Playstation bluetooth headset works great. The sound quality is very good andits improved a lot over the original, which I had until my dog ate it. It is lighter and more comfortable than the original.

I have a giotech ex-01 used it for 5 hours without sign of battery dying. Great headset can hear everything everyone hear you and its cheap.
