Hey everyone,

some of you may remember that i asked a while ago what 3D TV would be best for Console gaming, but many said i should wait til next year... which i will be doing.

Anyways,

Im not looking to get a new TV, but a LED FULL HD TV.

The one i currently have is a 32'' HDTV Ready

This one has caught my eye, especially a used one which is around 480 euro -500 euro!

http://www.amazon.de/Samsung-UE32C6000-LED-Backlight-Fernseher-Full-HD-schwarz/dp/B003AWSN9U/ref=sr_1_2?s=ce-de&ie=UTF8&qid=1290013805&sr=1-2

How much is LED better then LCD? What do you guys recommend.

I also using my laptop on the TV , using HDMI.

Thanks all

Chris

At that price range it doesn't matter if you go with led or fl backlighting as your budget precludes local led dimming.

LED and FL backlit screen all things created equal look the same unless the led one is edge lit.

That tv is clearly edge lit and the backlight is generally very uneven. Anytime the screen fades to black the 4 corners will look like flashlights.

But a regular lcd without local dimming won't come close to even the cheapest plasma in overall image quality.

Local LED dimming is another story entirely and the contrast is extremely good and destroys basically everything except for kuro's and vt25's

The best bang for your buck here is probably (and usually) a plasma.

BTW there are no LED tv's yes OLED and LED backlit LCD tv's but no LED tv's

hey man, thanks for your answer,

its kinda confusing to understand what you wrote there, since im not really into TV's hehe

Sooooo, what should i get know? Did you check the TV in the link that i provided? Any good?
Its somewhat bloody as hell confusing... everyone calls them LED tv even though its just the back light thing led... retarded. anyways,

I read around and it says that Plasmas burn out faster then regular once?! True fact?

Could you just recommend one, with a link provided, that would be just awesome

Chris

Technically plasmas half life are 50,000 hours and lcds both led and fl backlit are the same.

Amazon is a pretty good place to start for tv's

Rule of thumb is that samsung has greatest input lag and panasonic has the lowest input lag and lg is somewhere in between.

If you are going to be using this tv at a normal distance the 720p shouldn't bother you. I personally bought a led lcd tv at 1080p and ended up returning it and going with a 720p lg plasma just because the contrast was so miserable. At 5 foot viewing distance you could tell the difference.

This one for 720p

I would go with this one if you just have to have 1080p. (though it is 100 over your budget)

I pretty much just picked the cheapest one of each category because thats just it every plasma at the low end is roughly the same and they are all pretty good.

ok, great thanks! Even though, its not the price that kinda bother's me... its the sheer size of that TV (42'' inch is just too much for my room and for the distance that im playing ps3 or using the Laptop with it.
Got my racing setup like 1, 1-5m = roughly 5 feet.

The thing is, the ps3 games on my TV looks so colorless and not so... sharp or fine like on my friends 26 inch FULL HD tv.

Gonna take my ps3 with COD and GT5 P over to my gf place, her dad has a 50 inch LED 3 D TV Full HD and a regular 50" FULL HD TV.
Going to see the differents.

But i guess i should stick with Samsung regarding TV's...?

Well, I have this one, and it's great for games. The 100hz is important for games, and it's so much smoother than most LCDs. It's definitely worth a look. :)

Hey I play a 42" at 5 feet and it is great. In comparison to a 32" 4x3 crt it is essentially just 1/3 wider.

Perceived sharpness is more a function of motion blur and contrast as these are all fixed pixel devices. With the exception of gt5 1280x1080~ every other game runs below 720p COD the prime examples at 600p.

I would actually turn it off as it is adding at minimum 16ms of lag. However if you have to go lcd getting the higher refresh rate models will have lower input lag when the smoothing feature is turned off (not lower than plasma but lower than 50/60hz lcds)

Thanks, I will try that. I suppose it depends on what you are playing really.

Plasma technology has improved a lot in the past years, the burn-in issues are not a problem now...I was in the same dilemma, but considering I will buy a TV being the main purpose gaming (GT5 of course) I will get a Panasonic P42S2...search in the web which TV is better for gaming, and plasmas are reviewed over LCD´s big time (specially due to their speed)

The main issue with plasmas now is that they are great if you will use it in a dark room, otherwise, get a LCD or LED

Hope this helps...
