Which is your favourite? Football, or Motoracing. I can't stand football myself. In motoracing, when a car drives by at high speed, you get that glourious noise from the engine. Sometimes it will be a scream, sometimes a rumble, but it does'nt matter what kind of car it is, it is certainly going to be exciting. When a car crashes, you here the almighty smash as the car plunges into the wall, or another car, and then sometimes there is the screeching of the tyres, and the engine screaming in agony. Then, if the car launches it self, there will be a huge crash when it crashes back down to earth. And the overtaking is always exciting, as you never know if the driver will mess up or succeed. You never know if he will dive down the inside or fly round the outside. It is all a guessing game. In football, in my mind, you get none of that. But this is just my opinion. Which is your favourite, and why?

Poll please.

a few things first, your are from England so therefore I assume you are talking REAL football here (or soccer to those who are wrong), I think you should clarify that as about 60% of people on this board think of football is that sport where you get dressed up in pads and helmets.

My answer is motorsport anyway.

Football by a long shot. Motorsports in only good in small doses but I can watch football all day long, today being an example of that.

Pity the polls not public.

Motorsport, no doubt. I cant stand any of the 'footballs'.

just for the record, in soccer people don't dress in helmets and pads. That's American Football :dunce:

Yeah in the poll where you've put "Not where people dress up in helmets and pads, thats is soccer, not football!" No that isn't soccer, you need to change that so it says "thats American football not football" or "not soccer".

Its 50/50 for me. I can't split them. I kart and I play for a football team so both play big parts in my life.
My bookshelf is half motorsport biographies and half footballers biographies.
My wall's is signed pictures of Damon Hill and Nigel Mansell with pictures of Sixfields (the stadium where Northampton play) and a signed pictures of John Frain scoring a free kick in the 93rd minute at Wembley.

Can't live without either.

Motorsport. But then, being in North America, neither sport is big here... but motorsport tends to be better-received here, and it has better coverage on the airwaves.

I'm sure that soccer is an amazing sport, though, even after those shootings...

I dont think I can change it!

Motorsports > Soccer/football/whateverthehellyoucallit where people run around kicking that damn ball > queer eye for the straight guy > The View > Rosie O'Donnell > ballet > gouging my eye out with a fork > and somewhere way down the line American football.

Motorsport / Soccer and American football

I find it hard to watch soccer on tv, but when i'm actually there, it's a great experience. Same goes for motorsports with me. Ive actually used F1 racing to help me fall asleep. As for American football, I can watch on tv for some reason. It really all depends on what you like because football is an awesome sport imo.

Motorsports> Soccer > Football (where people dress up in helmets and pads, not football!)

Motorsport>Formula One>Le Mans>Super GT>D1 Grand Prix>Moto GP>A1GP> Ilse of Man TT>WTCC>FIA GT>BTCC>AFOS>Formula 3>GP2>every other motorsport> Soccer>EPL>Spanish La Liga>Italian Serie A>Bundesliga>MLS>Other soccer league>Beach soccer>Street soccer>Australian rules football>rugby>football (a retardation of a foot growing out of ball)>another football game (uh... whachamacallit again?)> American football (where people dress up in helmets and pads, not football!)> Anybody who says football is American football (which has to wear helmets, pads, ball guards and jockstraps) 👎

:)

I could piss you all off and say...

Motorsports = Hockey > everything else

hope that says what I'm intending. :dopey:

Eh?

Motorsport, as always conquers all. I grew up around NASCAR, love GT and SCCA racing to death, and occasionally F1 (its a bit of a bore, IMO).

Then again, I love soccer too. They've been showing the EPL here in the US on ESPN2, which is nice, and I usually watch it when I can. That being said, American Football is easily, without a doubt, my second favorite sport. I personally am horrible at it, and I certainly don't pay nearly as much attention to it as some of my friends, but I still love it to death.

So yeah:

Motorsport > American Football > Soccer (don't worry, soccer is easily my third favorite overall)

I picked motorsport.

If the two were on at the same time, I'd probably watch the motorsport. Unless it was some crap small town race where the drivers were pathetic while on the other channel there was a top level Premier League or international match playing - in which case I'd watch the football.

But if I could only watch one from now on, it'd be motorsport.

If it was American football I would have picked it. But I choose Motor Sports.

I'm going 'motorsport' on this one.

And just to piss on an anthill:
american football > rest-o'-the-world-football. :p

Motorsport is owning soccer by exactly 11 times more.
Motorsport>All
What about a thread for specific types of motorsport? (As in, which series you like the most)

Would you expect otherwise on this forum?

If the forum was dedicated to Europeans only then it'd be a lot closer because football isn't that big in America but on a forum dedicated to Gran Turismo, motorsport will always win. If you go to BBC's 606 and ask on there it will probably be 11 to 1 in favour of football.

Yeah, it does make sense. Many members here are even willing to pay a lot for having a close simulation to the real thing. I mean spending money on GT5P as well as buying wheels and cockpits, its just a big investment!

Motorsports > Classic sports with cars for "players" (see Top Gear's Aygo Football for an example) > Any other sport

I feel exactly the same way. I love cars more than anything, but the racing aspect can never acheive the drama, highs and lows of following a football team or watching almost any match at any level. The best motor race I have ever seen doesn't come anywhere close to the best football match I've seen in terms of excitement and passion. Although that other team from North London, the ones that wear white, I'd rather watch cars with no wheels race then them (attempt to) play football.

Depends on the Motorsport. I generally only watch F1 now. I couldn't care less about A1GP, WRC, Nascar, V8 Supercars, etc.

However, I'd watch any football match. So shockingly, I'm gunna have to go with football.
