I'm interested to see which of these games the GTPlanet community is most disappointed by. Yeah, I probably should already know the answer, but I'm just looking for numbers here mostly to try to see past any vocal minority.

Depending on how well this goes I may start a pole on which racing game the GTP community likes the most.

Also this pole closes in two weeks.

Edit: Note, pressing enter can accidentally post threads :ill:. So be wary of what you press I guess? Not saying that happened here... okay it kinda did, but I'll roll with it.

Edit 2 now unnecessary.

F1 2014. I enjoyed 2013, but 2014 was just worse, with harder to drive cars, no graphical changes whatsoever and the exact same bugs that there were before.

Need for Speed Most Wanted (2012) was a major letdown. It wasn't even close to be as good as the original one. It was such a tiny game.

GT5 was also a big letdown. Simulation mode is a joke, online was never good for me, car lineup was poor (basically GT4 + GT5 prologue cars + a few extra ones), etc, etc, etc... etc...

GT5 was indeed one of the most disappointing racing games I played of the GT series. The standards absolutely killed that game for me.
On the other hand I truly enjoyed GT6. So maybe you should expand the poll to separate GT5 and GT6.
I did not like Project Cars at all so I voted for that. Plus it was a buggy, unfinished game at launch.

That game felt like a simple void filler at a time when they were focusing on 2015's game instead. So dull...

I'd also put PCars forward. Proclaimed to be the pinnacle of racing games yet I had to trawl for months to find an acceptable controller setup. Like, how can you neglect a large part of your customer base?

NFS Shift (1 and 2) get put forward for being too far detached from the usual NFS series to have the same sort of tropes as NFS (arcade handling, Bro car parts etc.) But kept the name so had to keep the tropes to attract the usual crowd for NFS.

NFS The Run because of the lack of a free roam mode and any real car customization.

Forza 3 suffered for the same reasons PCars has, everyone I knew raved on about it being amazing. I just didn't enjoy it. Same with 4, to be honest. Didn't play Horizon, 5 or Horizon 2 and only had a quick play of 6 in a store.

GT6, some of GT5's great features were removed (where's my museum cards, PD?), the soundtrack was awful, I hated the lack of freedom when it came to first cars, and the online system was just poor, I wanted to just go back to GT5 and stay there. I've warmed to it, but it's still a very frustrating game at times.

My final nomination is the WRC series. Held out a lot of hope for them, none have been any good. I await DiRT Rally and ill at least try the new Loeb game Milestone are now doing.

There can only be 1, though so...

Other: the WRC series.

I could add those two options, but the first "Gran Turismo" option would remain as I can't edit the existing options anymore (that's actually a pretty smart feature). So you'll have a GT5 and GT6 option in addition to the first one, unless that's okay?

Need For Speed Most Wanted 2012
Grand Theft Auto IV (PC Port)
Hitman: Absolution

This. Even though it was only £8 when I got it, it felt just like F1 2012 with different engine sounds. Can't imagine how frustrated I would be if I paid full price for F1 2013.

2013 was the first of the series I got and I thought it was fantastic, especially with the classic mode. 2014 was just the standard game with nothing else remotely interesting, plus the new engine and DF package made the cars awful to drive coming out the corners.

It was never meant to be like the original one. It was always meant to be a different interpretation by a different company in a different era. If you expected it to be anything like the old Most Wanted and got dissapointed, it was completely your own fault. Because the game came out pretty much exactly as advertised. The latest Need for Speed though, that was not only a big dissapointment but also a heavily flawed game.

They put the Most Wanted name on it, so everyone obviously thought it would be close to the original. Most Wanted 2012 was just Burnout Paradise with a new city, worse damage and real cars.

I forgot '13 had classic mode but I thought the majority of the game would have been too similar to its predecessor.

I would agree with you when the game was released but Ghost Games are acting on negative feedback and providing free updates. The recently-announced legends update is the biggest and most impressive update so far.

Need for Speed Most Wanted is nothing like Burnout Paradise. Also, if you buy a game, only because you like the name, you should expect to be dissapointed. Did you seriously buy this game just because you liked its title?

The Crew at launch.

This thread should be in the Console and PC Gaming section.

No, I bought the game because I thought it was going to be a modern representation of what the original Most Wanted was and it wasn't

It was never marketed as such. It's a bit unfair to call a game a dissapointment because you got the wrong idea.

I understood it was meant to be different. But the fact is that it was a tiny game. I completed it in virtually no time compared to Carbon, the original Most Wanted, Underground 2...

Yes I think that would be fine if you added GT5 and GT6. Then people could vote between those. If the original GT stays, I think that will be fine. I would also change the title of the thread to "Which Racing game are you most disappointed by?"

I discourage anyone from explaining why game X was the most disappointing thing ever. This is because I want people to be able to vote anonymously and so to avoid any kind of fan war. Going on a tirade about why you were disappointed by game X isn't going to help that.
I'd just like to point this part of the OP out as being pointless.

Where do you draw the line on what a fan war is? Is it when everyone is screaming about how their game is superior or when 2 people acknowledge each other's side and try to make the other one see differently? How would cutting discussion of any game's flaws improve anything anyway, that being that this just becomes a needless thread for a 2 week long (???) Poll if there isn't healthy discussion.

Should really be in Console and PC Gaming forum.

Test Drive Unlimited 2 disappointed me the most. It should've improved everything from TDU1 and instead had some of the worst driving physics I've seen and an incredibly cringeworthy story.

NFS Most Wanted 2012 is a close second with GT6 in 3rd.

So you are saying that some games are worse than others because they are more difficult?
At a time when the cars themselves were actually more difficult to drive too.

I'm surprised that NO one did vote for GT6...yet
I expected the game to not be up to my standards so it wasn't really a disappointment for me.

lol @ Need for Speed fans raging over Most Wanted 2012. That was one of the best racing games of all time hands down.

I mean, Burnout with real cars and real lighting? What's not to like?

If I wanted a Burnout game, I'd play Burnout Paradise where I can wreck everyone's 🤬 and enjoy it, not Need For Speed trying to emulate Burnout.

I don't think NFSMW12 is a BAD game, it just didn't live up to my expectations.
