I've been on a racing game binge lately and I'd like to know what aspects of racing games are done best by what series. I'll put my choices from what I've played, which is console only games. This can be for any type of game to, sim or arcade. So, which game do you think is best in these categories?

Best Career Mode: Forza 3

Best Modeling of Cars: GT5 for the Premiums obviously. I don't think anything is remotely close. Standards are a different story

Best Looking Tracks: Motorstorm Apocalypse for all the destruction that occurs/GT5 for a portion of tracks/ F1 2010 for overall consistent visual quality.

Best Weather Effects: PGR4 because of snow/day/night/rain fog across so many different tracks. Variety that is still unequaled today to my knowledge.

Best Night Racing: Shift 2, headlights illuminating the track side look great IMO.

Best Selection of Cars: GT5 for sheer amount/Forza 3 for most with a cockpit view

Best Selection of Tracks: Shift 2 perhaps, I struggle with this one. Forza 3 has only 1 city track and I do like those. GT5 has a decent variety but not a lot of tracks in number.

Best Modeled Cockpit View: GT5

Most Immersive Cockpit View: Shift, because of the reflections reminding you
there is actually glass in the cockpit, unlike Forza, GT and most other games I've played, + the little bugs, marbles and other debris that kick up combined with the helmet cam

Best Online Component: Forza 3

Best Damage Modeling: Forza 3/Shift 2 about a tie to my eyes.=

Best Physics: Not a good judge in this area, I'll leave this blank for now.

Your selections?

You forgot the best police elements. With that I'm going between Most Wanted or HP2 (both NFSs)

iRacing for Physics, Online, Car Model, and Interior.
Burnout Paradise has the best Damage still.
Tracks go to rFactor for number but iRacing gets the nod for better tracks overall.
Sound goes to GT5.

iRacing definitely gets the nod for the strictest adherance to reality. The cars and tracks are amazingly detailed, the graphics are above average for a sim and, as far as I can tell, the physics are absolutely spot on. If it weren't for the vast amounts of repetitive drudgery required to progress in the game, I'd play nothing else.

Career Mode : GT5
Car Modelling : Ferrari Virtual Academy (F10) > GT5 Premiums > The rest.
Cockpits : See above
Graphics (General) : iRacing, F1 2010, Dirt 2, Shift 2 (PC) - Hard to say, massively based on opinion and i like them all.
Physics : iRacing, Ferrari Virtual Academy for Formula 1.
Online : iRacing - Really no competition here.
Damage : Dirt 2
Car Selection : GT5
Track Selection : iRacing/Rfactor - iRacing has by far the best quality, Rfactor has by far the biggest selection.

Best graphics/carrer: GT5
Best physics: rfactor/gtr2/isi engine
Best online: rfactor/gtr2/lfs
Best sound: Forza 3
Overall: rfactor

Note: I can only vote comment between forza 3 & gt5

best career mode: Forza 3 by a long mile. In gt5, when i 1st started out I recall grinding a lot on the same tracks with the terrible used hyundai I got form the dealer. In forza 3, that calendar keeps me busy with many events. For instance, the mustang only events just make me wanna giggle insanely

cockpits: GT5 for the cars that have them

Best selection of Cars: I'm torn. GT5 has 1000+ cars only 200 are premium. I'm hooked on cockpit views so this brings down gt5 to 200 cars. Forza 3 has like 500? but gt5 still has more cars....

online: I cant really vote. Havent done much in either

Looking forward to acquiring shift 2 shortly so I can give better comparisons.

I don't understand why people like the sounds of Shift 2, i found them to be really unsmooth sounding.

You rev the engine from low to high and you can hear a crossover between samples, and you change gear and it makes some weird clunk noise and it just doesnt sound anything like how a real car should. Almost all the cars do it, and have that digital sheen all over them. Some cars sound good, but then some cars out of 140 or so is hardly making up for things.

Average at best.

I'd say best sounds go to Dirt 2, F1 2010 or the NSS 2010 mod for Rfactor.
