Hello drifters,

I´m a drift beginner and I was wondering that there is no thread of the famouse drift tracks.

So I ask you:

What is a good drift track?
Or what´s the best one?

I was trying to drift on Autumn Ring Mini, a bit on cape ring and a bit on Trial Mountain...

Thank you.

Use maps like Sukuba, Indy road course, autumn mini and if you wonna do hair pins take tzukuba.
Tokyo bay karts track can be very good aswell but be patient and keep up the spirit :P

Best Regards
Miko

First of all, what are you using? Controller or wheel? Also, try Suzuka East as it has a "slalum", wich is alot of S turns combines. Wich is great for learning direction change, and the corners are long so you can practice holding them.

That's like asking 'what's the best food in the world?' or 'what's the best color?'

It's personal preference. In all honesty, most of them are good for drifting, try them all out and see which you like best.

I´m using a wheel (Logitech G25).
At the moment I´m drifting with a Supra RZ with a bit of tuning.
I will try Suzuka East. 👍

Thank you, Tandems are far away... :D Takes a little time to get good enough for that.

I know that the question is a bit stupid, but I can find out, what´s the favourite tracks are.

I love Deep Forest... There's nice elevation changes i miss el'capitan from gt4 :indiff:

I love Deep Forest too. For drifting and for testing cars.
missing el´captain in GT5 was very, very disapointing for me too! It was my favourit track on GT4.

Great, start drifting on that track then, because I find once you know the racing line on each track you'll find it much easier to drift on and know how to take the corner. But remember that the racing line isn't always the best line in drifting.

👍 So true!
I love Suzuka East as you have to change direction rapidly, after a long turn.
It's really good for testing the limits.
Also try Indy Road Course, as it's just pure awsomness in replay as it is wide open, and it has almost every corner type. You need to slow down and speed up in the drift itself wich will help you controll and know the car even beter.

Atumn (?) Ring Mini is (IMHO) abit too much for a beginer, as it has banked corners wich is harder to control the drift in. Tsukuba also, but you can manage there.

Fuji speedway is really good, as again it has a really good combo of the type of corners. A really, REALLY long turn you need to shift up a gear to last the whole thing, and some banked, tight, and J turns wich will help you practice accelerating and braking during a drift.

Cape ring is also a very nice place, full version and North. It has banked corners wich you need to controll very much with the throttle, some J turns, some S turns, and of course the INSANLEY long up (on north, down on full) turn, wich will need alot of practice to prefect. You need exactly the right angle and speed to complete the full circle.

Also if you ask yourself what car you should be using, I have some explanations :)
There is (generally, not really in detail) two type of cars. Sensitive, and soft.
The soft kind, is the one wich you should practice on, as it isen't as snapback sensitive, and you don't need as much presicion to drift with as the sensitive, as it will be more smoother, and flowing with you.
Thos type of cars are the Supra RZ, 430 Scuderia, Aston Marting DB9 (I think, it's from the NCD), RUF BTR, Z4 coupe and normal, and that type of cars.

The sensitive kind, is the one more sensitive to steering. You can lose controll and have snapback alot more easily. Thos you should try after you feel you have prefected the drifting itself, the technique, and all the other stuff.
Thos cars are the RUF S2000 (I think? It's a convertible), the M3, M5 (ish, its in between),350 (370)Z, and Zonda R.

I sugest thos ones you learned how to drift to prefection.
Try not switching cars too often, as every car has it's own behaviour.
What I sugest, is seting your car to be a go-kart at first, as it won't effect the weight transfer as much. Rigity Improvment, and hard dampers is a good thing, when you start. Ones you feel yuo get beter, soften them up abit.
Remember, SOFT rear, STIFF front is oversteer. Vise versa. You should want to start off with toe at +20 at front as it is very stable. Ones you get the hang of the car, try lowering slowly to 0.00.

I really hope this help:tup:
PS!!! Let the wheel do the work. Don't fight it, flow with it. And remember, practice practice, practice.
👍👍👍 :sly::dopey::sly:

Deep Forest Reverse have a better flow than regular direction. But you will lose the entry for the 1st corner (one of the favorite corners on entire GT5 community).

Trial Mountain for those wall kisses

Trial Mountain Reverse also have a better flow in reverse than regular. Plus, the "tunnel corner" becomes a blast instead annoying.

Atumn (?) Ring Mini is (IMHO) abit too much for a beginer, as it has banked corners wich is harder to control the drift in.

Another track that i prefer to run on reverse. It have all properties and disciplines for tunning a car.

Don´t worry.
I´ve just read your big post! Thanks for all. 👍 I have to practise that things these days!

Maybe I upload a small Video with my drift-attempts.

I´ll be back, soon!

:dopey::dopey::dopey:👍👍👍
Great!!! PM me the video and Ill take a look!!!!:dunce:
Edit to previous post. Set to +20 at rear, and 0.00 front. Slowly get the rear to 0.00. Mess with the front toe for turn in.
