Which view do you use?

I used to drive Bumper Cam only, then I switched to Interior. I still use Bumper for drifting though.

the "physics change" I mention is only on dualshock but interior view seems to defo give more grip and a slower loss of grip, possibly to counteract the slight "disconnected" feeling.

I don't think the physics actually change but rather how your steering inputs are managed (because they can't be direct on a controller) they are "interprited" for controlling a vehicle with dpad/analogue.

I might use interior more if the wheel and hand movements were remotly realistic.

Interior/Cockpit. I feel like I can see the rotation of oversteer while its just beginning to happen before it transfers across the slip angle, so that on a good day I can really put the car on a knife edge.

I use the interior camera, even when racing although i would probably be a bit faster with the roof camera.
I used to choose the roof camera on standard vehicles, but when their simplified interiors came out they worked so well that i dropped the roof camera completely...

I've always used the bumper view, as it's truly the most realistic FOV experienced in real life cockpit.

It's beyond me how all you guys using the cockpit cam aren't annoyed with:

a. the SEVERELY restricted vision of the ground in front removing the the true sense of where the car is on the road.

b. the totally ridicules A-pillars, which don't APPEAR that bulky in reality as your eyes are focusing outward into the distance which eliminates everything inside, unless you're glancing down (which is different because the human eye can focus almost instantly, then refocuses outward again)

c. the annoyingly delayed motion of the drivers arms and wheel, as well as the predetermined shifting motion

d. the rear view mirror isn't as clear as the independent mirror in bumper cam mode

All these things take away from that raw feeling of being in control of the car and my surroundings. I really appreciate the effort PD has put into the premiums though, as I look at the beauty of the cars when not racing, just like I do in real life.

The perfect view for me would be something in between bumper and interior view, preferably right in front of the windshield with "interior sfx" and slight view of the hood and user selectable options for the gauges and so on.

But I'm fully content with the bumper view for now, as I actually feel almost fully aware of the balance and centering of my car, I'm looking at setting up a triple screen cockpit for the ultimate in immersion and sense of speed in a few months time.

Sooo... A lot of people use the bumper cam and pd spent years modelling the cars. :ouch:

I use the chase cam for racing because I can see my car and the cars around me better. 👍

So how do you feel about the 800+ standards in the game then?.. they all provide a unique difference to you?

I don't use them all that often, other than the LMP's and Formula GT. If the cockpit view on them is really bad, I may use hood view. But generally I stick to premiums with cockpit view.

And the number of cars in this game is stupidly overhyped. I would take 1/3 of the cars for any number of improvements to the racing.

For me, having done trackdays in my own car, it feels right. There HAVE been times when I couldn't see the apex of a corner because the driver's side A-pillar blocked it, so I'd have to learn where it was!

As for the on-screen wheel, idk why it doesn't bother me much, but my Logitech wheel does partially cover the on-screen wheel.

As for the mirrors, I just thumb the d-pad to look, lol pressing back is like having eyes in the back of your helmet.

Bumper view, it may not be as pretty as a premium cockpit, but it's more effective for me.

I've been using the bumper cam since GT1 and I use it exclusively for racing online . I'll use the interior view on occasion if I'm racing by myself. The hood camera is OK on some cars but since it lacks a rear view mirror I never use it for racing. Personally, I can't stand the chase view simply because I don't need to see my car when I'm driving it. I understand that many people use it for the simple fact that you can see the other cars around you.

Come on guys cockpit view is the was to play the game!! People say you can't be accurate?? Thats Bull! Its all about knowing your lines and positioning. You don't very often sit in the middle of the car so you have to learn the difference in perception of left and right-hand drive cars.
When i started back on need for speed shift (xbox360) i used the racing/best line and made sure the line was flowing to the middle of the car. So if i was left -hand drive the line would be to the right of the steering wheel and vise-versa.If you can drive a real car, reverse park etc you should be able, with a bit of practice to do it. I was the one of the only ones in that game playing online using cockpit view (used a controller though).
Thats why i've joined gtplanet in the hope i'm not on my own on this issue.
Add me if you use interior view
Logitech G27 no skid rec/asm/ast

I prefer the hood view... except there is none. I like the hood camera in DIRT and GRID.. I end up using the bumper cam or roof.

Bumper cam for the most part.

this is why I couldn't care less about the standard vs premium debate.

They all look the same to me this way :)

People who race use cockpit. People who play games use bumper or chase.

This of course is complete and utter nonsense, you're playing a game regardless of which cam you use, using cockpit cam does not make you a race driver, no matter how much you want it to so cut the BS.

Roof View because it is more true than the in-car mode. And this is coming from racing experience. If I were using 3 monitors or could use head tracking it would be a much different story. The in-car looks great but you have no peripheral vision, it's more like using a drag racing helmet.

Cockpit, almost always.

Occasionally I go to the bumper cam if I'm working on a difficult challenge where I want the extra visibility of the road. But for general racing I go for the interior view for the enhanced immersion factor.

I can appreciate what Jason is saying about head tracking though. Unfortunately it's difficult to be able to get true head tracking without a three monitor setup where you can use your own head to properly look through corners. I'm not even sure the PS3 has the hardware capacity to even run this game on three monitors pushing 1080P each.
