Which view is best for fastest laps.

I did a search on this and did not turn up anything. I would like to know what view you use when you are racing. I have always used the roof cam view, where all you see is the road in front of you.

However, I can not beat Mission 26 for the life of me. That 90 second wait is excruciating. I watched Famines video and I still can't beat it.

I was just wondering if using a different view and getting used to it will make a difference. I remember in GT1 and GT2 I always used the view where you could see the whole car. But, I did not like this view in GT3 and GT4.

What's you opinions?

I always use the bumper cam view (except for the F1 car where the roof cam is really 👍 ). I think the bumper cam is less distractiing. But you do have to guess where the corners of the car are at times...
 
I allways use in-car view. Yes it is hard sometimes to use full width of the track (or not wanting a bit more :) ), but after few tries you learn and orientate how far you can go.
 
Using in car and roof quite a bit.
In car is my usual from all the oher GT games, and the ability to look round on the Dpad is great.
The roof is good in that you can see where th car is and also gives the ability to see past cars you are racing against.
Overall, the in car view is fastest for me assuming I am not in the middle of a pack of cars.
 
I have tested with this a few times, i ran the nurburgring a few times 1st i used the exterior view where you can see the car, then the roof cam for a few then i used the bumpercam, overall ive always thought the bumpercam was best but this proved it for me, i can drive better with it, and lap times are better too!
 
In car view for me, just find it allows me to position the car far better and also allows a better view of some of the corners with late apex points.

I have tried to use the roof cam a few times, but it seems to be set to high for my liking on a lot of cars. I tried it on the M3 GTR and it felt like I was sitting on top of the roof, I felt quite sick and ran into everything.

For me In car is a bit like using manual gears, once you get used to it you just can't go back.
 
I'm using in car view with my wheel if I wanted to play normally
but if I want to play seriously I will use DS2 and rear car view

Yeah I agree with you.

I use also the bumper/in car cam. I can better find the turn-in points 👍

How do you change the views, i am only using the in car view on GT4, I CANT FIGURE OUT HOW TO CHANGE THE VIEWS

I beat that horrible :yuck: mission test with the bumper-cam.
But there is one thing. :boggled: When I do the Nurburgring :drool: in my
787B, I am just all over the track :lol: I find that when I use the roof-cam, it
steadies me. :confused:

Select, or just go to controller settings and change it into what you like. I changed the 'change car view' button to R1, because that was always the button to change view for me.
 
I use the bumper view exclusively through all the GT games, that is until 2 of the driving missions. It uses a Le Man type race car and in bumper view, it is too low to the ground where I cannot fully judge the corners. I ended up using the roof view just for those two. Otherwise, all the racing I've done are in bumper view.
 
Hmmm, this have given me an idea for the next poll on my website. 👍

But anyways, i use the roof cam because it has always been my preferred (sp) view in racing games and i find it the easiest. :cool:
 
I use the in-car view 👍

I only started doing this in GT4, reason being that I need the large analog rev counter when I use a manual gearbox. In GT1 > GT3 you also had the large analog rev counter with the outside views.

Manual driving will give you an edge over automatic driving, and its easier to do it well on the inside view. Just takes a little getting used to.

(+ on the inside you get the rear-view mirror and all the cool noizes such as the NOZ and wind)

No. In Car is not actually in car- it is Bumper- the one you use. Roof Cam is the one "where you see the hood", but you don't see the hood, you see the hood and the roof. And the whole car is just that, the whole car- also called "rear view" or something.

I, personally, use the bumper cam, but wish they had a view from the driver's seat- that made me very disappointed in the gameplay experience. I mean, even NFSU2 has a REAL in car view. I find using the roof cam is too strange because you are SOOOO high above the ground. Although it is sometimes useful in rally races because you can see how much the car is drifting...
 
I use bumper cam. I tried roof cam but like others have said it is too high. if they had made a bonnett/hood cam I'd have gone for that even if my times were reduced :)
 
I use bumper-cam as well.. I found with the roof-cam, that if the car had an antenna, it was sticking up right there in the middle of the screen. Found that a little off-putting. Try it with something like a Honda-Fit (yeah, that little car)... The antenna looks about a foot wide...
 
Why isn't there mirror when using Roof cam??! I preffer roof cam, but sometimes i want to see whos behind me, so i have to switch to bumper cam... Is there a way to see the mirror in roof cam???
 
bumper-cam? think you mean in car view as some of those bumpers are very high, like mounted on the windscreen! (windshield).

I like the in car view in GT4 because you get a real sense of how the car moves on the road and you are able to react to it better when you are just about to loose it aseptically when using the wheel (good for MT gear changing as well). The view in car when braking hard is a very good effect in giving you a visual reference in what the car is doing and weight transfer. Following a car round the ring is awesome you have to wait for that bit of track you know is coming up to pass, bit like real life planning your next move rather than roof/rear cam where you can see that little bit more of the track. That’s my VIEW on this subject!
 
Bumper cam for me.

It surprises me the number of people who don't like that view and go for the outside behind the car view. What I want to know is in real life do they fit a trailer to their cars and drive them from there by remote control!!!
 
For me the best one is the view where you see the bonnet/hood of the car. Almost like bumper cam, but you still se the hood/bonnet of the car. Behind the car really does not work good, and the surroudn sound also sounds crappy in that view ! :yuck:
 
If we're strictly talking lap times, then there's no doubt that the bumper cam is the best. On tight circuits, there's no better way to judge an apex. In a way, it's unrealistic, but I think it's the closest thing to driving a single seater race car...

Yes, I also think it is the closest thing...

I use the bumper-cam all the way, always have. And MT.
Some say they can see the drifting better in rally and all that, but with the bumper-cam you're not distracted by the car itself, can see the whole track, and you should be able to feel the back end of the car as it slides about.
I would like to see a real 'in car' view, but bumper-cam is the next best.
 
In-car [or bumper] view for me. Has to be for a MT, and also sounds. I always play with no music, just sound effects and i think they are the best in this view.
 
Well, I stuck with the "in-car" bumper cam view. I like it the best anyway, and I finally beat Mission 26. Now, if I could only beat Mission 29, so I can get that Toyota 7 ;). This one seems harder than 26. The best I have done is 1 second gap to first. I really don't see where I can make up any extra time over the 1-second run. Oh well, I just keep trying :crazy:
