Why does Nitrous Oxide/NOS gets the thumbs down in most any GT forum? Well, the prospect of "just pushing a button" to make up for inferior driving skills isn't very well respected. If you want to use it in real-life, then fine, but with the excpetion of non-professional drag racing contests, it's forbidden in just about any form of motorsports.

Another problem with NOS added in. As soon as/if the AI passes you your going to hit it right then if your on a straight or not and slam into the wall causeing the AI to be way ahead of you. And there is giong to be some problems with hitting the wrong button from people using it so much.

Another anti-(anti-)aliasing issue pops up when you use multiple methods of input from your PS2 to your TV: For example, if you plug the PS2 outputs directly into your TV's a/v inputs, then you'll get a better picture than if you plug the wires into your stereo deck and then then the TV, I've noticed.

Gran Turismo is the Real Driving Simulator. Most professional racing series do not allow for nitrous oxide, thus it's not in the game. This isn't a street racing game, it's game modeled after more professional styles of motorsports, not pick-up races on the main drag of your home town.
No professional road-racing organizations have ever allowed Nitrous Oxide to be used in their racing cars. Not CART, FIA, USAC, nor IMSA, and not even NASCAR. Drag racing is another thing all together, and even the highest classes of NHRA and IHRA forbid the use of nitrous. Drag racing had it's chance, it was pulled from GT2, not enough people wanted it in GT3, so it's fair to say it's a non-issue for GT4.
Oh yeah, I don't notice a ton of jaggies, but sometimes long curves tend to appear funny due to the pixellated format of a TV screen.
