Well there's only 3 races left and Schumacher is only 2 points behind Alonso. He has seemed quite cool all year but the pressure seems to be getting to the current champ Alonso. Can he hold onto his lead or will he slip and let the retiring Michael snatch it??

Michael Schumacher. It's the final race and winning it would ensure the championship for either driver. Alonso and Schumi are rounding the penultimate corner when Alonso tries a Schumacher-esque dive and tries to collide with MS. Alonso misses and smacks into a tyre wall while Schumacher cruises to victiory. Alonso starts complaining that Ferrari and MS forced him to do it. The End.

Michael Schumacher will, because I don't want him too. That's a theory that served me well for 6 years, and though it let me down last year, I suspect it will hold true.

Alonso will, he hasnt delivered the goods since Canada so its about dam time he does, Renault will be really up for it and Alonso wants this championship. Its gonna be close but i think Alonso will get it with 1 round to spare.

I hope it's Schumacher, but only because I'm pretty tired of the freakin' Alonsomania, especially here in Spain.

I think he's frustrated at the circumstances, because he wanted to beat Michael in a straight fight, but he has been penalized for seemingly negligible infractions. That, compounded by rare failures at Hungary and Monza, have in a way taken the championship fight partly out of his hands. Remember, he was cool as a cucumber last year, when Raikkonen was surging in the second half. There was never panic.

I think he can still win. The Renault should work well at the final three tracks, and they have 3 weeks to test. Also, with the exception of Indy, where tires were the story, Ferrari hasn't done too well outside of Europe this year.

Although I think that Renault is still competitive, and I really wish that Alsonso will make it, realistically seen, I think Schumi will make it. He's so motivated to go off with another championship title that he's kind of hard to stop. Ferrari is still up to the job perfectly, and with them presumably qualifying in front of the Renaults, I see Alonso lose by a few points.

Going on your Fisichella prediction I’ll just ignor your predictions for the rest of the year, and presume them incorrect. :p

I think Schumacher has the momentum swinging his way, and both Alonso and Renault seem a bit stunned about the current situation – no-one really thought this would have happened before we went to the Americas.

Hmmmm this makes me think... will he pull off something like zidane?
You mean, do something incredibly stupid, thereby taking himself out of contention at the worst possible time? Schumi would never do something like that. Oh, by the way, does anyone have the tape from the 1997 race at Jerez? I haven't quite got around to watching it. Probably just another typical race, with no significant historical impact.

I'm going to go with Alonso, the way he seems so pumped up, especially after Monza and Schumi's announcement. Yes he has pressure on him but so he did at Imola 05 or Turkey this season, both times he beat Schumacher. ;)

I'm sure the FIA will find some way to screw Alonso out of the title because of Schumi's retirement.

My money is with Schumi, he has the momentum. I'd like to see Micheal win one then Alonso win one (race wise that is) so it's all taken down to the final race of the season like it was in the Raikkonen vs Schumacher season

The momentum is clearly with Schumacher. I think he will go on and take the title, but it will still be close. It'll not be down to Schumacher on his own though. I can see Massa taking points away from Alonso. Alonso seems to have a distinct lack of a teammate to help him out.

Michael is like an ageing lion, they're at their feircest when they sense the end. I hope he can go out on a high this year.

Yup, Fischella just plain sucks. The only time he's half decent is at the start of the season, and it's only because Renault have a knack of making a good car in the off season, so he has a car advantage. But as soon as the teams sort themselves out and even up, Fisi is left biting the dust.

Alonso....I think
Although I am a Schumacher hater!!! I would like to see him win it all and go out on top. His comments after the race were the most real Ive seen him since his days with benetton, so you might say I like him a little more now. We'll see I guess......................:sly:

Schumi and Ferrari have the momentum at the moment, we all know what a devastating combo that can be. You get the feeling that at Ferrari they are coming to the end of an era with i suspect more than 1 key members of the team about to 'retire'

Renault on the other hand seem to be stalling, they've had a few suspect rulings over certain matters (mass dampers, Alonso/Massa quali at Monza) and with Alonso leaving for another team at the end of the season i just don't think they'll have the motivation as a team to get the job done. I could be wrong.

Whoever wins, i'm sure we'll have a great, close finish to the season 👍

I voted for Schumacher, although I still "personally" think he doesn't deserves some of his titles. He did things and got away with it, got the best car in the field etc etc.... but I must admit, he's a d**m good race car driver.
I think ferrari payed off Renault to let Schumacher become world champion and retire in style. :sly: hehe.

No, you’re wrong. But prior to him, when things like that went on it was just accepted as part of the sport. It was only in 1997 when the FIA finally decided there was something wrong with that.
