Now that the season is past halfway, I want to know who everyone is favoring and your opinions on the race to be the champion this year.

I'm rooting for Alonso and I don't really care if his wins seem boring. Schumacher doesn't look to have much of a chance.

There was going to be a poll, but I forgot check-off the option.

Same as last year, and the year before. Alonso.

Next year, whoever races with Fisi.

No faith in Fisichella?

I guess next year I will be split, but Alonso will probably still be my favorite for the win.

I'm rooting for Kimi but we all know it's Alonso.

Whoever can beat Alonso. Apparantly, he said that after a few laps on a MotoGP bike he could be competitive with the likes of Valentino Rossi. :dunce:

Nope. None. Besides, if he did do well enough to possibly win, he would want to move to Ferrari at the drop of a hat.

That might happen for me, if Renault gets somebody I don't like. I'm a Renault fan first, and Alonso fan second. However, if it's Kimi, or somebody else decent, I'll remain a Renault fan and new Kimi fan.

This year: Fernando Alonso.

Next year: Lewis Hamilton.
:)

I so badly want to see Schumacher stage a dramatic fight back, so that the season is decided in the final round.

I’m not really too bothered about who wins, but I’d be silly to bet against Alonso at this point.

Same as last year, the year before, and the year before that.

I've always been a kimi fan and its likely that i'll remain a kimi fan :dopey:

I can also say that im a big fan of mclaren but i guess thats because of kimi's participation in the team. I dont know if i will still be fond of mclaren if kimi leaves.

as for alonso, i dont dislike him as a person but i dislike him as a driver. He makes the sport boring by always winning (and same goes for michael a few years back). He does not have the blistering pace of kimi. He wins by driving pretty fast with a pretty reliable car. So the question is, whats more interesting to watch? a reliable driver or one that can win a race from the back of the grid? :dunce:

I want M Schumacher to win this season but chances are Alonso will take it. The only other current driver I think deserves to win a championship is Barrichello. It's a shame Honda can't give him what he needs.

Michael Schumacher of course! I really, really hope that Ferrari can get back up on that high horse again! Like Michael said, fingers crossed :)

I want Schumi to win his eighth title and then leave the sport. He is a legend, and I personally want him to quit after winning the title. He has done a brilliant job with Ferrari over these 11 years. But if Senna hadn't died in '94, he would have been the man for Ferrari in the late 90s and Schumi wouldn't have reached this far..... I am sure of this.

I don't mind who wins the title as long as they have to fight for it, and that they fight fair. I don't like these seasons where one person dominates and it all seems a bit easy.

I doubt it, I think Senna would've retired after 94 or atleast after 95. I remember reading that after the first two races of the 94 season Ayrton had called Alain Prost and asked him to come out of retirement because racing wasn't as much fun without his arch rival.

Also Senna was 34 years old in 94, I doubt he would've raced as old as Michael has.

Absolute nonsense, he had a contract with Williams until 1995 and he made it very clear that he wanted to finish his career with Ferrari, as he found it to be the most beautiful F1 team. He was even close to signing a contract with Ferrari for '94, which I wish he would have done. He told his friend Berger to let him know when the Ferrari would be championship material, as he could then make his move. And remember that Berger was also 38 when he quit, Schumi is 37 and still going, Hill was 39 I believe, Alesi was around 38 as well and Mansell even drove some GPs after having passed 40. Senna could not live without racing, he was addicted to it. I am sure his last season would have been either 1997 or 1998 and that he would have quit being 37 or 38. F1 is different from football, where you are pretty much done when you are 34.

I would like to see Kimi or Button win. I'm won't be unhappy at Alonso winning as I think the Renault is a great car and it's nice to see 1 of the oldest teams in F1 back in winning ways. However I'm a McClaren fan followed by Williams, McClaren always seem to push and try and beat any and all compitition whilst Williams have really fallen behind in the last 8 years. It seems to me that since they had to spend loads of money re-designing the car to the new F1 specs, I think in 98 after the terrible 97 season when we lost Senna, and the car turned red they have flaundered around. I expect they are low on funds and so can't allocate so much to developments.

I'm rooting for scott speed. Seriously.

I'd love to see Kimi do it, but really I want to see a competition, so lately I've been rooting for MS to catch up.

TMM
...after the terrible 97 season when we lost Senna...

Senna died in 94.

The 97 season was terrible because it took Mika Häkkinen until the season finale to get his first victory and I missed it. :yuck:

Wow, apologies I didn't realise so much time had passed.

Hell, I'm spanish... it's easy to guess who do I want to win the championship xD

PS: TMM, looking at your sig... it took me over 7 years (from 1998 to 2005) to complete the first GT... I was horribly bad back in '98 (I was only 10), and didn't give it a second try until last year :P

Schumi of course !... Mostly because he drives those pretty red cars though..

Thanks... I was 25 when I started playing GT... And the length of time in my sig is constant playing, I have raced every winnable car in every leigable race that it can enter... Hence the length of time taken...

I completely agree. I've been rooting for Kimi since 2002 since he replaced Hakkinen. Was a Hakkinen fan since '97 or so (cheered for Hill & Villeneuve before that).

At the moment, seeing as how Alonso just runs off with the wins, I just root for Kimi to get a decent finish, for Montoya to get a decent finish (I am a McLaren fan as well obviously), and last but not least, for Villeneuve to get into points. I don't care which place he gets, as long as he's in points I'm happy.

In fact, most of the races this season except Bahrain and Monaco I've just rooted for Villeneuve as he tries to get into some decent points as Kimi and Montoya aren't doing that well and usually have bad luck on their side.

Who do I want to win the championship? Mark Webber :)

Of the Contenders, who do I want to win the Championship? Michael Schumacher

Who do I think will win the Championship? Alonso

I hope schumi wins he's just the best driver in f1. Just be honest, Alonso only wins because he is driving in the best team. In San marino schumi holded him of his back for 30 laps and Alonso had a faster car! that guy is just a sissy. :yuck: Kimi knows what racing is too but he doesn't make a chance in the championship right know. Schumi should just take 2006, then retire or go to somewhere he got some more competition.👍
