How do you like the new Civic? I've been considering having my mom trade in her Malibu for one.

At 30 years old, I don't consider it the same kind of vehicle that an 18 year old would. It's a Nighthawk Black, manual, coupe EX with tinted windows. There will be no subs, fart pipe, rims/tires, etc. It It is a Point A to Point B work runner. Granted we bought it because it looks exponentially better than a Yaris or Fit, but we didn't buy it just because it was a Civic.

It rides like a small car - you feel every little piece of gravel on the road. Personally I don't mind that. Like I said, gas mileage for us in town is usually around 32, but now that it's colder, it dipped down to more like 29. If you are going to regularly have more than 2 people in it, get the sedan. The coupe is difficult to get in and out of (no surprise there) and the driver seat doesn't go back to where you had it set, so you will have to readjust it every time it's moved. Fortunately, the only one that is ever in the back is my 3 year old, so I just have him get in on the passenger side and leave my seat alone. Since you are in Michigan, I'd suggest getting the EX-L so you can have heated leather. I love it in the Pilot and wish it would have been available on the '07 Civic.

One year too early. Damn!

my daily driver is a 300E mercedes. 18 years old this coming year. gets mid 20s freeway, does everything competently if not very well, but not exciting in the least.

vintage BMW 2002 for fun. used one for nearly ten years as my daily driver.

I like how u can hit corners nice in the 300e allthough i almost lost in a couple of corners lol.Gas mileage is good when u drive likea regular person. But i like to go fast and hard gas isnt all that great in it .

-> Well here is my commuter/fun/only car:

2006 Subaru Impreza WRX Sports Wagon

^ Gives me a miserly (for a sports car) 27 mpg, and I average 'round 60 miles a day for work, school, and anywhere in between. :)

-> But I wish I'll own a 2nd-gen Fit, it could go along with my subie quite well. ;)

So again, who here drives a normal commuter car, and what do you do to deal with it? (Besides playing GT of course, haha)

I have a 2008 Chrysler Sebring Ugly Edition. Er, I mean Touring Edition, as my daily driver.
It's easily dealt with, since firstly although it's the drabbest thing since beige corduroy trousers and Morris Dancing, it's free, being a company car and all. :)
Secondly, I'm safe in the knowledge that once I'm off business duty I can leave it parked on the street where it can be pranged, scraped, dented and stolen without me having to worry about it, or using up valuable garage space, where I keep my own fun cars, a '95 Mazda Miata & an '81 Porsche 911SC Targa.
Makes the sickly Chrysler easier to stomach!

 👍

I do. '04 Nissan Altima. I still like the looks, but it's the farthest thing from "sports".
Yeah, those crazy Subaru Foresters… :p
I hear they attract lesbians? :p

Lately I’ve been thinking that it would be fun to own an old decommissioned Police Interceptor. It’s a big, stupid-ass car, cheap, and you wouldn’t care if it got scratched, and imagine how much fun it would be to punch the throttle to that V-8 while the suspension is half-heartedly trying to negotiate a corner. Plus it would be fun to see how many people slam on their brakes on the freeway.
I wish I could do that with a normal Crown Vic with steel wheels, but not with a old police cruiser. Way those cars get abused!
