Who else dreads going to GT auto?

I'm at the point now where I barely wash/oil change my cars unless I need to. The prices for chassis and engine refresh for racing cars are too high. The HORRIBLE paint system that takes way to long to load. I have about 1600 paint chips now, and it's starting to take longer and longer for the initial screen to load up.

I really wish oil/dirt and engine chassis would just auto refresh after each race. Gran Turismo is a driving simulator, not an oil changing simulator dammit. One more thing, Why does it take SOOOOOOOO long to load up? I mean, it's loading a car, a few ps2 quality people and a white room. What could possibly cause it to take so long?

I don't mind changing the oil and washing a car every so often, but I don't use the chassis and engine refresh unless it's a chrome line car because it's only 500 credits. Other than that it isn't worth purchasing and I've never painted a car because the whole idea of paint chips is garbage.

I spent $2,000,000.00 cr on buying 15 of every tuning part so i can sup my cars up by using the items menu. Seems to take a min or two off the tuning and only took about 20 mins to buy all those. Plus i can install various parts very quickly to just about anything. Do the same thing with the paints when I know the exact color to use

If you're getting worked up about a little flaw in the game, you should really go see a doctor.

That being said, you're the first person I have witnessed to be annoyed by such a little thing. Everyone of my friends on PSN play GT5 and not once have I heard this complaint.

I don't see how you can dread "going" to a virtual place while you stay seated in a chair listening to The Entertainer on a piano. It's an awesome song too, reminds me of Charlie Chaplin somehow.

Well Dread is a bit of a strong word, but I thought it sounded good. So by dread I really mean I feel slightly annoyed and hesitant.

Considering I only spend 1-2% (maybe 3-4% if I'm painting multiple cars that day, and I can't make up my mind on the color) of my GT5 time in GT Auto, it's the mildest of inconveniences at worst.

Besides, part of driving - unless you only drive rental vehicles - is maintaining your ride. If it takes a minute (or even two) to give a lovingly abused car a little rightfully earned TLC, then that's not so bad. It's faster than a real-world oil change, and can be done while you take a few sips of a beverage or something...

That being said, even if you get rid of the loading time the whole "paint" system is a huge comedy of errors that's not even funny anymore.

Could you save a bit of time here and there by getting rid of a bunch of your paint?

Otherwise, you can always just sell and buy replacement cars instead of maintaining them, because that's the only alternative I can think of.

Peace...

Still, not know why it would be annoying to go to a virtual place.

Because to achieve optimum results for your car you have to wait around 14 seconds each time for it to load.

14 seconds out of your day is something worth ranting about? I remember complaints about real things.

Take 14 seconds.

Multiply it by 2, because you need to get OUT of GT Auto as well.

Say I bought 10 used cars in a day. Multiply this by 10. Already, we've jumped to 280 seconds (or 4.66 minutes). Times this by 365 (days of the year) and you would have wasted 28.388888 hours, or MORE THAN A DAY on loading screens. This of course doesn't count all of the OTHER loading screens on GT5.

The only thing that annoys me a little is that the same tacky music plays every time. Same with the tune up shop also.

They let us change the music for everywhere else in the game but not these places =(

Heck, if you include all the other loading screens, and don't forget the time it actually takes to start up (and quit) GT5, and I think that actually leaves zero time left for actual driving...
:guilty:

(I believe you can only have 2,000 cars in your garage. If you've had GT5 since release day, at ten cars a day you only have eleven more days to buy cars before you can't buy anymore - not counting when you sell and replace the cars you sold - because that's on you. So, your time spent waiting for GT Auto loads should start to drop off within two weeks. Hang in there - you've almost made it!)

He's not the only one displeased with it, but might be one of few that's vocal about it since it's not an enormous issue. If we had a poll seeing how many want to keep the sluggish GT Auto complete with all the lame animations we've had to watch a thousand times already, and how many would like to remove it, I'd be willing to bet that removing it would win by a landslide.

Further, people should be vocal about flaws in the game, even if trivial. PD needs to know where they've screwed up so they can improve either GT5 in future updates or improve these blunders for GT6, and they can't hear about where they've screwed up if nobody ever says anything. Even a small screw-up is still a screw-up.

The whole oil change and car wash thing is one of those things that sounds great on paper but gets old real fast in practice. It reminds me from back before the release of Grand Theft Auto IV, when people were posting about "features" they'd like to see in the game. Many of them were absurd, but sounded great to some folks when typing it on a message board. For instance, they wanted cars to run out of fuel and for us to need to stop at gas stations to refuel. On paper that sounds brilliant, but it would get old within half an hour and within an hour every player would want to burn Rockstar developers at the stake.

Try having almost 1100 standard cars. If I try to load it online it either takes 5 minutes (really) or freezes the game completely.

I don't think i'm even close to the OPs number of cars owned and paints, but I don't mind the loading time. Wasn't the old PS games took longer to load? I don't want to judge anyone, but it doesn't mind me because I see it as a recreation thing to do so whatever I can play with the given time is fine by me.
