I ask this because , if like me you have been backing up your game saves daily onto a pc, you will find yourself with a collection of snapshots of the past that can be used in the future
allow me to explain
a few days ago I was saving credits to buy a Sauber when it pops up in the UCD ,so I have the money, the Sauber appears but so does the Bentley(not enough cash for both) I back up my save so I can buy the Sauber and fully restore and mod it, send it to myself, then restore my original save, thus getting the car and my money back.
Old news I hear you thinking!
Today I thought, why don't I reload that old save with both cars in the ucd but this time buy the bentley instead, so I did,bought the bentley, sent it to myself etc, etc
this got me thinking " why don't I just grind to 20 million then keep the save and i will have an endless pool of money to buy any car from the dealerships that I can dip into whenever i like?",
and that is what I intend to do, along with annotating my daily game saves noting amount of money on the save or a particular car in the UCD, thus allowing me to time travel backwards and forwards thru my game saves.
Am I an evil genius or what !

This thread is about the possible uses of archived save data it is NOT about car duplication how to dupe or whining about duping there are plenty of other threads covering those topics, try and stay on topic as much as possible please.

was thinking about doing that at level 40 when you can buy the X1s.. so I can have 1 in every color w/o grinding the hundreds of millions cr
 
My bobs are creeping up to level 40(39,38,38) so I reckon buy the time I have 20 million bob will be there.In the mean time I will buy up the other expensive cars as I go , the ferrari F1's the muira, the p340 etc
 
I like your thinking mate, I have been saving all my back ups into a folder on my mac, but I never thought of doing this. I'll be going 'back' to have a look see whats in the UCD later on, cheers for that 👍
 
I have the fatty ps3 with card slots. I keep 3 saves archeived for mining the UCD and gifting them back. Another tip, upgrade the car before you gift it to yourself!
 
I copy the contents of the USB drive I use to backup my save into a folder on my pc
The file tree should be ps3 savedata bcesxxxxxxx-game

I modifiy the name of the "savedata" sub folder to , for example "savedata/bentley/ucd/05/01/2011" so I know what is on any particular save


PS when picking the save to reload , you must make sure you rename the modified savedata file back to just SAVEDATA or the ps3 wont read it correctly
 
So this is seen as ok to do but yet everyone goes mad because some people duplicate cars for the exact same reason?

People duplicate cars to build up their car collection.

Anyone doing this is just doing the exact same thing.

I wish people would make their minds up instead of having a two faced approach about things.
 
I made a folder on the PC named GT5 Cars, inside this folder i make many folders by the name of the car it has on it. This way i don't need to modify game saves i just put the save into the folder for each car the save has on it.. and yes you can upgrade them before you send (engine rebuild, chassis,oil change and all trye types i do always as the norm), or send them as stock and upgrade with your own cash , then send the stock again to yourself the day after so this way you have both stock and upgraded , a few grinds around the Indy track pays for the upgrades.
 
P.S. The same trick applies to your free car tickets ..Save the file on the PC then collect the ticket , i save the car in the GT5 car folder and reload the saved file from the PC to gain another free car , i have lots of cars from doing this but they are not so good i don't waste gifting on them just yet.This is quicker if you use 2 usb one to hold the saved file one to transfer to the pc.
 
Are you guys saying that it is possible to have many different game saves (versions I guess) on the same PSN account/profile and reload any of them at will?

Not on your PS3 but on the PC you have to transfer the save file to the PC via usb or other media .. Then you can load the same file as many times as you like on the PS3. You can keep many different saves on the PC as long as you keep them in a different folder so the PC does not overwrite them. the beauty is you always have the car even after gifting as you just reload the save again and there is the car i guess if you can change colour of the X2010 you only need to ever buy 1 , just keep gifting it to yourself and paint it.
I have not tried this but in theory it should work, if you do not have a usb stick then create 2 fake accounts and copy your save file the first one, then buy the car and gift it to the 2nd one .. Now log into the first fake account but do not load into GT5 simply copy the save file back to your account so it has the money you had before buying the car and overwrites your game save which has spent the money. Now log into the 2nd account which use's it own GT5 save file recieve the gift and resend it to yourself.
 
So you would need 2 PSN accounts? Gosh, I am sorry, I know I'm dumb :dunce: Could one of you kind gents please explain this whole procedure? I've been grinding for a month now to buy the FGT. Almost @ $4 million so I really hate to screw this up :nervous:. Thanks!

If you feel the urge to whine about car duplication then please do it in the many threads allready running on this subject.
 
Ok, so I'm not much of an IT genious, as I'm only a kid, but how exactly do you do this? I get to the point where you copy the savedata to computer, but then I get lost! Who are you sending the car too, and how do you do the copying back to the PS3 bit?

The thing I'm most worried about is this affecting my Trophy information, as I've just hit 70% on it :/

Once sent to the other account log into it and take the gift go to the lorry and collect it do not use it though .Now buy a car and use it so you can send the gifted car back, then go into the garage and now send the car you just sent to the account back to yourself, remember though before logging back into your account to overwrite your game save with the save from your PC so you still have the money but now you get the car for free. Also remember to send the Paint and Museum cards from the other account to yourself.

That's genious! Is there a way to send a few cars at once? By that I mean you can only send one car a day, but is there a way to speed that process up?
