I've done the b, a, and ic licenses as well as all the golds in beginner, amateur, and professional series races and as per usual with all the previous gt games I'm bored with it already, I suppose it kept me somewhat entertained for the majority of the weekend - it did it's intended job I suppose. Just feeling let down by this title, was hoping it would be leap and bounds better than it's predecessors but it's just the same old re-hash of the previous games and lets face it, it's really not that much better looking than GT4 on ps2 - keep in mind I'm more of a casual racing fan than anything and not a "fanboy" of xcrap or anything, haven't even tried Forza so flame on.

Which Gran Turismo are you playing?

GT is not really a game for "casual gamers", it is not a "pick up and play" game. It requires devotion and a somewhat actual love for cars, to really appreciate. It is almost like the World of Warcraft, of racing games. (except GT still has an attainable goal; and usually isn't played by people in their mother's basement)

Might I recommend the new Need for Speed for you? Hot Pursuit is pretty awesome, I bought it when it came out and finish 100% (all gold on everything) within a week, so it is rather short. But it is very "fun".

GT and NFS have two different definitions of fun, both of which, I do find "fun". However, NFS sounds more like your game. :)

I understand your point of view, and I've played GT3 and GT4 extensively, I just really thought the online content would be a bit more immersive, was hoping it would breathe new life into the series but it seems very sterile, can't even filter connection strength or set up a private room - whats with japanese developers and getting things online right - it's horrible. I really have a hard time fathoming this thing took 5+ years to make.

Maybe it's one of those games you shelf when you've got your fill. Then come back whenever you're in the mood. But like Morsolo mentioned, it's not the typical casual game.

I reckon GT doesn't work as an online "game".

The only way you can really play online properly with GT - in my opinion - is with carefully organised matches, to work out your own connections (and ergo, lag) and plan your own races. Almost as if planning a real race. GT could be a good solution to help race car drivers race with their team mates, even though they may not be close to eachother.

As for just having an "online game", for my points in my previous post (about how GT isn't casual and not "pick up and play")... I just don't think online - in the way you're thinking - work. (and I agree)

Again, NFS (or Burnout Paradise). They both have AWESOME online racing.

I've played NFS and burnout demos, not really my cup of tea, ahh well I still reckon I got my money worth out of GT5 77 bucks australian, and agreed jaewoot I'll end up shelving it for the week and perhaps give it another bash next weekend :)

Got it from Harvey Norman I see? :)

...if NFS and Burnout don't do it for you; which games do?

What? You already finished the game? How many hours do you play a day?

Well, if I finished GT5 I'll go back and finish what I stopped playing when I got GT5.

And you haven't tried Forza ? Maybe you should go try to finish Career Mode if you could. It's painful because the game is boring .. maybe it's just me. But no both FM2 and FM3 were boring for me .. I'm just saying .. but I like the series though.

Not to bash but I disliked forza becuause I couldnt use my G25.

As far as being bored with GT5..... online is where its at really. Ill play the hell out of it here while im deployed but when I get home.... I will not play it as much due to work and reality racing in such as.

With the Wangan and all type of human vs human challenges you should have hours of fun man.

Depends on what you like I suppose. GT is much more a hardcore game and the enjoyment for a lot of people doesn't come from just trundling through events. It can be about tuning a lesser car to compete with more fancied opponents or setting lap times. It all depends on what you enjoy.

Not sure what all the people who are saying they are disappointed were expecting.

Hey, MP is where 99% of my time was spent on Modern Warfare 2.
I haven't even touched online for GT5 yet and already love doing solo time trials - just love the green hell that much.

Honestly some people bought the game because of hype. I feel like you find your balance if this game is not for you. I respect Forza series, but when I purchased Forza 3 half way through the game I just had the urge to sell all my cars, and just modify cars to see how they handle and sell, after that there was no way I could continue with the races. And like stinger said, I guess this game is hardcore. Which is why I drop the Normal games.

If you don't have a genuine love for cars then this simulator may be misunderstood. Personally I love cars and everything about them. Old cars new cars it doesn't matter to me. I was out shopping one day at my local Sam's club and I noticed DFGT wheels on sale for 40 bucks. I couldn't believe it. I called every Sams club within reasonable driving distance (400 miles) and ended up buying 12 of them. I also have a couple G25 wheels as well. My point is just sitting down and driving does it for me. I don't see this as a game. It's a life style for me.

The physics are so perfect. Being able to fill up a garage with cars I will never be able to drive on tracks from all over the world does it for me. Is GT5 perfect. Depends on who you ask. It is for me. Gt is a evolving thing. Try to imagine the time and effort that has went into it so far. All the people who have dedicated their entire life to perfecting the GT experience. Some things will have to be left for another day. Kaz is a genius in my book. Not because he created GT. But because he even attempted to create the racing experience.

I love that he does not allow the GT community to dictate what GT will ultimately become. Our input is good but imagine if he tried to implement everything we wanted. GT would not be the same. Look at the intro for example........

to be continued almost level 22 B-spec 14
