3D TV + force dynamics 401 + Logi G25/G27 + nice helmet (dunno who that would work with PSEye though) + well set GT5 = way to go

Santa I expect $50K from you

I waiting for someone to report they suffered a mild seizure, this tech to me is still vastly unsafe for the masses.

I'm sure it's safer than those naked-scanners that your government installed on every US airport.

I'm interested in hearing if there's any Panasonic VT20/VT25 owner who does NOT like the 3D mode.

yes 3D is awesome! (with a good TV) i can't play in 2D now

my 3D setting for a true orthostereoscopic experience (and full depth)

I got a VT20, at first it was headache inducing and looked ugly with all the ghosting and crosstalking, and I regretted having spent so much on it.

However... upsilandre's tips just saved my day, thanks a LOT!

The upside is that the depth is just amazing. The way the landscape and other cars look, the way you estimate distance and just feel like being in a space is really ... wow.

The downsides are clearly lower framerate (especially noticeable in sharp turns) and the lower resolution. Also, all menu and HUD stuff seems to be rendered in full 1080p and then downscaled which makes it look more ugly than necessary, fonts are jagged and such. Turning sharpness down to 0 helps a bit.

To sum it up, it is clearly a first-generation thing. Works, but with flaws.

I think I will stay with the 3D mode though.

I love the 3d on this. Finally got all the convergence nailed and in cars like the lambo the dash looks amazing and in the yank tanks ( meh i dont really like them ) the depth in the gauge housing is brilliant.

Overtaking etc is easier to gauge and it looks brilliant throughout.

Dont hate the 3d guys, its here now and does improve the games.

ARGHH i cant wait!!!! im getting a sony KDL-46NX713 tomorra and had to wait a WHOLE week! i cant wait no moreeee!

I would have gone 3D.
There was a 50" 3D with 2 sets of glasses and a Blu-ray player for $1500.
I opted for the 65" Plasma for the same price.....I feel I made the right choice.

:O!!!
i got my 3D tv the other day, and my gosh! it sooooo sick!! the only thing that i dont like that some of the text i.e. the drivers names in the loading screen dont seem as clear as the rest of the picture.
Oh i can play COD in 3D as well!!!! woooooo my holidays are ruined!

I was skeptical to try it out in 3D but I got a new 3DTV and there is zero chance I will go back to playing in 2D. It is fantastic. I think many people may just not have their TV set up correctly.
The TV I bought is a relatively inexpensive Samsung LN46C750 240Hz LCD. I put it in Game Mode and have GT5 set to parallax=9 and convergence 0.9. It is awesome, better than I could have imagined. You actually have depth perception and can really judge when you're coming into a corner, unlike 2D mode where you just have to get used to the track and know the corners are coming. It is very lifelike. As many people mention there can be some ghosting in dash view, which is too bad because in my opinion it is the most realistic and the view I like to use most. I have also heard it mentioned that the cars can look like toys in 3D mode. This is actually true, because it is so life like that unless you have a 150" TV to make everything full scale, the cars are smaller than they would be in real life. It's still very impressive, I couldn't imagine playing in 2D mode.
As far as the glasses and playing for long periods of time, I have no side effects from wearing them for long periods. In fact in my case I completely forget I'm wearing them, and get very used to the depth. I find the 3D much less of a gimmick and much more real that I though it would be.
I'll note that I also have a crazy-ass custom-built setup using my old BMW E36 M3 seats with Logitech G25 racing wheels, fully adjustable seats, fully adjustable steering wheel, shifter etc...

Got my first view of 3D today- 54" Panasonic VT-25 and I'm glad I didnt listen to the naysayers, it rocks!
Excepting the mental knowledge that 3D is played at 720P it looks great and it sure seems to make driving easier...I think part of it is having the front of the car stick out so you dont overdrive the turns by several feet. Just seems that much easier to judge things. The depth inside the car really helps immersion too. Cant wait to bump up to some wall etc and see if everything matches up distance/view wise.

yes 3D is awesome! (with a good TV) i can't play in 2D now

my 3D setting for a true orthostereoscopic experience (and full depth)

Cockpit view with "narrower" mode
Convergence: 0.9
Parallax: (size screen dependant)
65" = 6 or 7 (6 if you have a low interocular distance like 6.5cm or less, 7 if your interocular is near 7cm)
60" = 7
55" = 7 or 8 (7 if you have a low interocular like 6.5cm or less, 8 if your interocular is near 7cm)
50" = 8 or 9 (8 if you have a low interocular like 6.5cm or less, 9 if your interocular is near 7cm)
46" = 9
42/40/37" = 10

and if possible play at a distance x1 diagonal of the screen for right FOV
it's agressive but very realist (and unforgettable) experience. i played lot of hours without problem
need a good TV with few ghosting (for me VT20 with contrast 30 and brightness 20 for hide ghosting)
this will be better if we would can OFF the HUD (depth conflict with some element of the dashboard when convergence is 0.9) but not possible currently
I know this is an old thread, but I'm doing a lot of 3D testing now and would be curious what you think? I'm fortunate enough to have two systems capable of 3D, a 46" LED and a 720p 3D DLP projector as well. I only have one PS3 for now, and use an HDMI matrix switcher to send it to either or both displays.

I wonder how the PS3 initial video setup for 3D, where it asks you for your screen size affects things? Since I have a 80" projection screen and a 46" flat panel, entering a screen size in the PS3 setup is a compromise. I've tried it at smaller screen sizes like the LED, as well as entered 80" for the projection screen when I've set it up in the past. Want to know what that affects and what might be best in my situation.

The DLP projector shows little or no ghosting no matter the settings, but the flat panels seem much more prone to it. I tried a Sony 40" and am returning it since I can't get the crosstalk/ghosting to go away at all, even with parallax down in the 2-4 range. The projector can handle higher values. I wonder how PS3 screen size setting plays into this?

Should I tell it I have a 46" for best performance on the flat panel, which is harder to get right, and take my chances this will still work okay on the projector which is more forgiving. How would that choice play into your suggested screen-size dependent parallax settings?
