Just a question. I noticed a friend was banned yesterday (playnthru) and I can't imagine him doing anything to merit what evidently is a 30 day ban. I myself was banned once legitimately (don't drunk post) but another time very randomly when some mod decided to go back and look for sorta-swear words in posts.

But that's all beside the point. Mainly I'm wondering, are moderators all powerful? Or is there some higher level to appeal to? Is that Jordan?

Can a ban be set freely in terms of time period ? Like in specific hours or days ? Have someone ever been banned in short period like 24 hours ?

@Jordan Always wanted to ask this, since you are the almighty ruler of GTP. Does that mean you can actually break your own rules and not get any sort of penalty?

The site is my own private property, so I can do whatever I want to it or on it, just as you can tear down walls or spray paint graffiti in your house or business.

An online community like GTP is no different than a bar or pub. As the owner, I can come in and get as belligerent as I want. I can throw bottles, break the TV, never clean the bathrooms or fix broken lightbulbs, yell at people, and I'll never get kicked out.

Of course, as TB mentioned above, that would be an incredibly stupid and foolish thing for me to do. Why? Because nobody wants to hang out in a dump with an entitled jerk, and they'd leave the gathering place that I've spent the last 15 years of my life to build. With no-one buying drinks or hanging out and talking with each other, I would have no choice but to close the place down.

That's why the ultimate answer to "who moderates the moderators?" is... you. If you don't like it here, you're going to leave, and that's not what any of us wants to happen. That's also why I choose moderators very carefully - they must truly love this community and the people in it, and they know that if they make the wrong decisions, they stand to lose something that is very important to them.

You silly republican 👍

In the true sense of course.

Pssst, fixed that for you.

:D

*Taps you on the shoulder and points at post*

I count them two: The Site Founder (dont ask who. Its obvious) and the true admin (the indigo one).
