I gotta admit there are some drivers out there who make me so nervous that I will literally open the door and let them past me. I get sweaty palms when I see them on the circuit, on the grid, ahead of me, behind me, wherever! These guys are so daunting to race against that I feel like a total noob when I'm racing with them.

I think they already know who they are, but I'll reserve name dropping for a little later....

But I wanna know... who does it for you?

Which driver out there (apart from the STiG) get's you into a childish giggle?

No-one makes me nervous now, well apart from GTP_Hun and his twitchy rear end of his GTR, i'm sure he's set it up like that to make it harder to figure out his next move

When i first started all other racers in the same event made me nervous

I don't mind being the first to name some names of drivers whose ability I respect and admire so much that it makes my palms sweat (not good for sixaxis users) and heart pound 3 times faster and harder whan I'm in front of them, and it's an absolute thrill to beat them:

- zabeu, GTP_RACER_LP, GTNDC_Honeycar, Truth123, GTP_Timppaq, GTP_Stotty, GTP_Mr_P, GTP_Beerz, Tameturtle, GTP_Sarlech.

I've mentioned them all many times before here and on other boards in Ace Drivers/Fastest Drivers threads.

I've gotten a lot better myself recently, thanks mainly to seeing these fellas race so damn well , error-free and being forced to raise my own game and take tuning seriously. Until I went online I'd never had any serious competition from anyone at Gran Turismo. I hope one day they too may see my name in the startlist and feel a pang of anticipation at a seriosuly hard-fought and clean battle which they could lose if they slip up just once, which is the way I feel currently about their ability.

If you don't see your name here, it is more than likely I haven't had the pleasure of racing you yet. So far my online games have been limited to a very certain time of day.

All the best

Twisteddeeds[GB]! D'oh! forgot him! He was electric yesterday and almost completely error free in over an hour of racing in his black (foreboding) WRX 07.

All the best

My wife. I'll be racing just fine then out of now where....."Are you going to.....blah blah blah". Next thing you know I am in the kitty litter.

But seriously, there are a couple I have had on my tail and I have become nervous and end up screwing up my line. I think Vanos was one, and maybe angelX.

OffT - Cashwars, that is probably the nicest way someone can come up with to say that my driving is a mess. :indiff:

Whenever we meet online again, if you are behind and close I'll just slow down and let you go.

OnT - Nobody makes me nervous. Maybe because I'm not really fighting to win, not with the GTR anyway. Whenever some of the fastest guys shows up in my rear view mirror I won't necessarily give way, but I never block also.

Last night I think I had one of those ocasions with Timppaq, his car (NSX) grew on my rear view mirror in the back straight, when we approach the fast corner at the end of it (130R?) I made it all always well to the right of the track and allowed him to pass losing very litle time. I don't know if I could do this with the pad, but since I use the wheel I find it much easier to drive without having to do it always in the correct (normal) line.

Nobody Psyches me out!!!!

Just myself when I try to over do my driving limits:crazy:

However I RESPECT everyone on the track until they prove otherwise.

👍 ..thanks, it was very kind of you! :)

Nobody psyches me out except for non-GTP

Guys like RudiRaser-GTRP are much faster then me and dissappear into the sunset but I don't get psyched out by someone faster then me.

You can't intimidate someone who's seen it all

I was thinking of posting this myself...

There are a few names that make my adrenaline start to flow if I see them in the race line-up. Primarily it's just the anticipation/excitement of a potentially great race, but it also includes a pang of nerves. The feeling only normally lasts for the first lap and to be honest, when I get that feeling I usually race at my best.

I won't name names as it's almost impossible to not accidentally miss some great racers off the list.

Nobody psyches me out, though I'm not immune to pressure. But I don't fold just because a GTP driver is behind me, for example. If anything, having a GTP driver behind me just means I can trust them more to pass me cleanly. If they're much quicker, then they'll pass.

Not a single time have i been psyched out. I have on the other hand made people make mistakes but nothing hardcore like making them wreck. the only thing that psyches me out is my own ghost on time trials..wierd huh..

Earth: Surely you haven't seen it all?

If you've seen it all the game wouldn't hold much enjoyment for you. The day I stop feeling a pang of nerves or anticipation at the start of a race is the day I've seen it all. And I guess the day I've seen it all in Gran Turismo is the day I stop playing the game.

I don't think I've raced against you Earth, but you would certainly be one of those 'pulse raisers' to have on the grid.

I'm intimidated by anyone who stays in my rearview mirror, period. It's a distraction, and I'm always worried I should just let them by, so they don't find my early braking annoying.

Sorry again Superwally, I bumbed your ferraris back end a couple of times as I didn't push the g35 pedal hard enough... :(

No one makes me nervous. I just drive the car. The only thing that annoys me is people who don't know how to follow another car closely, or people who try overzealous passing moves in the first lap of the race.

No apology necessary. I honestly prefer to follow and learn, and practice my passing if the opportunity shuold arrive!

You wouldn't like me then, I generally stalk the car infront lap after lap if neccessary right on the bumper until a clear opportunity presents itself. With the boost though its very common that the driver behind can match, but the closeness of my following is often to much for new drivers. You GTP folk don't fall so easily though :sly:

Nobody psyches me out, except for bad drivers, I'm always afraid I'll end up in the gravel trap... I mean more than usual. I just see each person I race against as an ordinary person having some fun on their PS3, not some super-human gaming machine.

In the 750PP Suzuka, the people who bring in the 6XXPP F430s, F40s, Evo IXs, etc. When we start and I'm in the pack headed for the first turn I just keep thinking, "They're gonna knock me off...I just know it...it's gonna be me...so much for a clean race." But I usually get so worried about them that I then end up running into someone else...

That is problem with many racing. People get too nervous. I udnerstand because we still don't have private rooms. But we should feel when a player is good or not. We should always go with the flow. Usually the people that have good hot laps are never too good on race track, not all but there are people like that. I am bad on the HOT lap session, but on racing, I am pretty decent because I don't get nervous when racing.

Since this thread has mostly PAL responses.. I will add my NTSC and PAL fears = I fear racing Timqap, Sphinx, Sharlch, Cudadude, Div, Earth, Ravenmaven, Hamilton, Angelx(in the R8). Almost everyone that can pass me..

In the Fuji 600pp races I can sometimes get out in front at the start. Then I psych myself out thinking "wow, I'm out it front. Don't screw up. Don't screw up. Don't screw... oh ****, I screwed up." I am more concerned with looking bad or messing up someone else's race than loosing. With the GTP in my name I really want to set a good example.

I often brake early too. If someone is right behind me I am afraid of getting punted, or causing someone to loose control when they try to miss me, so I often try to get off the racing line. Then of course as I loose sight of them and don't have time to "look around" for them before turning in.

Just to clarify, I don't have a problem with someone sticking to my bumper-it's my technique as well, to try and cleanly force a mistake. Just because it gets to me does not mean there is anything wrong with it!

Angelx and superwiley are 2 that amp me up, they're probably the best 2 drivers I've raced more than just a couple of times.

BMF u are pretty good yourself to bad we cant ever finish a race whats going on i see you then your car just stops?
