-If he pulls Loblaws out of trouble, Galen Weston.
-Sir Stirling Moss, OBE
-Sir Jackie Stewart
-Arnold Schwarzenegger
-Famine
-Will Ferrell
-Sir Paul McCartney
-Shimada Humikane (not really)
-Gary Coleman

-The rest of the well-known names in breaking racial, gender, and other social barriers.

Edit: Forgot; Leonardo is replaced by Arnold Schwarzenegger and Gary Coleman.

I didn't feel like checking through the thread, but I'd like to add Richard burns and Colin Mcrae.

@ nd 4 holden spd: Keiichi Tsuchiya didn't invent drifting.

Well he pretty much made it world known, he is the father of drift.

You couldn't have found anyone better to replace Leonardo Da Vinci?

Maybe Sage. If L. Ron Hubbard gets to make up a religion then so do we. But ours is more believable, and with less freakazoid lawyers.

....:dunce:

The guy with a Japanese name (which for some domb reason I can't remember right now) who invented drifting (When someone mentions drifting, his name is mentioned)

 Its Keiichi Tsuchiya ffs, how can you not remember his name!!!!!

Ok just to clear a few things up Keiichi Tsuchiya as awesome as he is didn't invent drifting. If you have watched the option/hot version videos (or was it the drift bible?) he talks about when he started drifting and how the other guys that where drifting where criticizing what he was doing and saying that what he was doing wasn't drifting (pulling his e-brake) Drifting got started from mountain racers who found that it takes a lot of skill to hold a drift and slowly started holding events in the mountains to see who could "drift" the best. Keiichi just help to make the drifting scene more main stream. The name of the japanese guy who invented drifting is unknown I'm sure or some guys who are deep in to it might know from handed down stories.

Sorry for the rant. I just don't like it when people don't get the facts strait lol

A bit late there...

He just went a bit more in depth than you did. Saying he didn't invent it and not giving them the correct, or at least some, information on the subject as to who did doesn't help at all.

Martin Luther King
Nelson Mandela

Tiger Woods
Roger Federer
Michael Shumacher
Sebastien Loeb

Look, I know he doesn't invent drifting, in fact, no one knows who originated drifting. Tazio Nuvolari was the pioneers of four wheel drifts back then (along with J.M. Fangio I think) The correct answer to nd 4 holden spd's question would be Kunimitsu Takahashi. But somehow I just answer the most common answer anyone would give. So is it wrong if I got the facts wrong? More people would be saying my answer than saying Kunimitsu Takahashi because Tsuchiya is more well known for drifting....... I mean, he did popularize the sport all over the world.

All my facts came from Wikipedia, so don't say I'm wrong......

I just found it funny that nd 4 holden spd couldn't remember the guy's name in a thread specifically about who will be remembered in the future... :sly:

I've editted my list a bit - OBL is out, Elvis is in... and Matt Groening has kicked Mother Teresa's ass...

Come on man, cut me a little slack, I was tired and I dont know Japanese names, but when someone says his name I go yep- I know who that is. Matt Groening, why didn't I think of that? *face palm*
How about this guy:
Bob Lutz, maximum Bob has to be the most well known man in the auto industry at this time and perhaps more well known than people before his time. They will remember him as the bloke who kept GM from going down the sink-hole.

PS- I love GM :dopey:

No offense, but I don't see Bob Lutz being remembered anymore than the man who created the Corvette and people barely even remember him.

Ferrari's own Jean Todt has a better chance of being remembered and that's because he just got caught in a scandal and was fired.

Never heard of that Ferrari bloke, and I guess it's probable that only hard-core auto enthusiasts will remember people from the auto industry. That's me :dopey: I guess that's why I said him.

Edit: I wonder how many people who aren't into cars would know who Enzo Ferrari is (aside from the fact his name is Ferrari, they wouldn't knw much more than that)

Jean Todt would be Ferrari's CEO. Looking back, though, it was another worker who was fired, not Todt. Todt is also known for being engaged to Bond girl, Michelle Yeoh.

I think you guys have to remember most people will have no idea who these people are, like that drifting guy. I could go out on the street and ask 100 people and I bet 98 wouldn't know who he is. Only the people who do things influential and made a household name will be remembered.

I agree with Picasso and Warhol. Elvis is defiantly one along with many others mentioned in this thread.

Who is Malaysian. w00t!!! [/offtopic]

Well since we're talking about the car industry, I might have a few suggestions as well.

Carroll Shelby (you can't go wrong with him :sly:)
Jay Leno (great comedian and car collector)
Carlos Ghosn (the guy who saved Nissan's 🤬)
Ari Vatanen (yeah, you would know him if your into WRC)

Lol, how I always type very slowly..... :indiff:

Um, I do. That's why I disagreed with Bob Lutz being remembered. I only brought up Jean Todt because he has a better chance of being remembered because he's Ferrari's CEO, and even then, it'll only be by Ferrari enthusiasts.

I'm not saying either will really be remembered at all.

You said you never heard of him. I was explaining who he was.

Yeah, but I didn't know who the Bond girl was either  I don't follow celebrities much. Pay to see their movies, let them have their personal life personal, that's me.

Joey D, do you agree with my first list, getting a link now.

You do what? I don't understand why you quoted my post with that answer.

Not really, I have no idea who Peter Brock is and I'm sure many others do not. For people to be remembered they have to be known by many people, not just followers or fans of their field. Like Tiger Woods, even if you don't know about professional golf you probably know who he is.

Here's my first list, I think most will be remembered (except the drifter- who now I see won't)

My original list of people being remembered

Edit: Only a few million Australians know who Peter Brock is  Not including the rest of the world of people that do know him. He will never be forgotten, even by non-fans.

My original list of people being remembered

Tiger Woods - Yes
Roger Federer - No idea who he is.
Steve Irwin - Maybe
Peter Brock - No
AC/DC - Maybe
The guy with a Japanese name - No
Kevin Rudd - I don't think anyone knows about Australian prime ministers outside of your country. I don't think I could even name one.

Edit: Only a few million Australians know who Peter Brock is  Not including the rest of the world of people that do know him. He will never be forgotten, even by non-fans.

For someone to be remembered by a generation as a whole they need to be known by several cultures all over the world.
